It seems like there are so many rapture predictions as a way to discredit Christianity, it seems like people who would like to discredit it make these ridiculous predictions.
Of course, when I say COINTELPRO, I just mean any organization looking to discredit Christianity, not just the FBI.
And, the obligatory scripture
Deception is all around us. And misunderstanding the words of Jesus is involved.
Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
Notice that it is an error to take verse 32, above, to then try and negate verse 33.
We don’t know the day nor the hour of Christ’s return.
That doesn’t mean nor imply that Christians don’t know the signs of the times, and are commanded of Jesus to, take heed, to watch and pray, so as to not be deceived by anyone teaching any false understanding of the signs of Jesus return.
Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
The correct understanding is reached by combining all the relevant scriptures and insuring that no scripture is broken.
The understanding I have been given is that we are like a man on a journey down a highway, looking to see the signs along the way. We can error in thinking we don’t need signs. And we can error in misreading the signs.
Therefore we are required to understand the signs of the times but not rely on our own thinking lest we not be ready.
So, if we think within ourselves that Jesus shall come at some distant time we may fall into the trap of not being ready.
If we think Jesus shall come without signs we may fall into the trap of not caring to notice them.
Both are tragic errors.
What we are commanded therefore is to Watch.
And as we watch we are commanded to pray.
And we are commanded to be ready at all times lest our thinking be found to have tricked us.
If we rely on our own understanding we may fail to pray for understanding.
Take heed what you think you know.
