I just wanted to share with you all something that I had learned by listening to a sermon online:

Here is how to know God's will for your life:

Your concept of who God is becomes the most important part in terms of hearing God.

  • Having a distorted view of God causes one to not hear from God, but eventually listen to Satan's lies. And this is definitely true in the midst of tragedy or failure where we are tempted to think negatively about God.
  • Every tragedy, sin, or failure is an open door that Satan uses to make it seem that God is finished with us.

Jeremiah 29:11

God's will was created for us when we were in our mother's womb(from conception onward) and that has not changed.

  • None of us are after thoughts.
  • God created each and every one of us right.
  • We need to quit comparing ourselves to others by seeing that we are beautiful in God's eyes no matter what.

Psalm 139:15-18

Our mistakes and the devil's attacks don't cancel out God's will for our lives.
Romans 11:29, Jeremiah 29:14, Romans 8:28

God released the knowledge of His will and activates it when we surrender to Him.

  • God loves us more than we love ourselves.
  • God blesses us more than we ever bless ourselves.
  • God's will for our lives is better than our will for our lives.

Jeremiah 29:13, Proverbs 16:3, Romans 8:1

God doesn't think negatively of us, like we may tend to think. He wants to give us a hope and a future!

God wants us to have life and have it more abundantly and to know blessed assured hope that we will one day spend eternity in His presence.

Agreed, Court (and welcome!)...

Our preacher shared the gist of the children's Sunday School lesson in the main message today... four terms to frame our prayers:

Wow! (God, You are great)
Thank You!
I'm sorry...
Please...

That first one fits nicely with the message you heard... when God is magnified in our hearts, the limitations to perceiving His goodness are diminished.
