America remembers Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a national holiday today, January 15th,2018--

President Donald Trump said in a presidential statement:

"Through his bravery and sacrifice, Dr. King opened the eyes and lifted the conscience of our nation," the president said. "No matter what the color of our skin, or the place of our birth, we are all created equal by God."

Its sad that many people want to tie themselves to MLK yet either don't know or don't care for what he really stood for. His niece said the other day of the NFL players kneeling that when her uncle was kneeling it was in prayer for the nation. Far left libs have taken his message and meshed with their own when he didn't believe that way at all. smh

It's just another federal holiday paid for by the taxpayer. The day itself holds no meaning, just part of a 3 day weekend for a few.

"No greater love can anyone have than to face death for their friends."
--Jesus of Nazareth

1) Friday of the Cross;
2) Saturday of the tomb;
3) Sunday of resurrection;

according to tourist here:

I thought that the thread was about Martin Luther King day. Somehow you have connected this day with the death of Jesus on the cross and resurrection from the tomb. Truly bizarre. I would not equate this guy with Jesus but that's just me.

My personal thoughts about Martin Luther King, Jr.....................

MLK was a prophet raised up by God and sent to the the president and leaders of America.

The dream MLK preached was not his own, but God given because he spoke of all people loving one another. Like the prophets of old, he was killed because of the message.

Prophets are mainly sent to leadership to bring correction and instruction.

[FONT=&quot]Surprise how many are against him still nowadays. I saw a bunch of tributes and documentaries about him earlier today and it reinforced my respect for him. He wanted peace, he loved this nation, just wanted everyone to get along. He understood but was against Malcolm X's philosophy (who is better is a debate for another day). When he spoke out against Vietnam, he wasn't against the Soldiers. He publicly commended their bravery for fighting. He just felt things could be resolved without fighting and more people being killed. He wanted his people to be treated fairly and not be discriminated against. Things are better but not as great as they could be. He was a Christian who used biblical principles in his protests. If people want to fight for his cause, we need more people like him.

"I am not interested in power for power's sake, but I'm interested in power that is moral, that is right and that is good."

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

from what I have studied and read about the man, he was a businessman,
and a whore and a bigot...

let's see, where all of what he was supposed to stand for has gotten us TODAY?!?

This statement doesn't even merit a response since it is so totally negative and one-sided, but, I will defend the man's honor. So, what about powerful public speaker and fearless civil rights leader who gave a nation hope and was willing to die for freedom for oppressed people?
Do you think that God looks at His servants and sees only negative? Probably over 2/3 of the people in the world have some prejudices towards other people, since it is ingrained in our mentality, even if we don't like to admit it. Most people fight against it and try to overcome these negative impulses by trying to understand other cultures by reaching out to them.

King David of Israel, the Judaic King was blessed by God, even though he made grievous errors, including adultery. He remained a King after he repented and Jesus was also known as the "Son of David." But, God said he had "shed too much blood," in battle and therefore, could not build His Temple. King Solomon, who apparently had concubines of many women, although it may be unknown what their duties were, was the wisest businessman in the world, and could have been called a "bigot," because of his zeal for the Jews, was still quoted by Jesus:

"Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?" (Luke 12:27-28)

He didn't say that King Solomon was a failure and a loser, a whore and a bigot, did He? So you are dishonoring people who were chosen by God to fulfill a courageous purpose, therefore, you are dishonoring God.
So, let's see, where has all of what those two kings stood for gotten us TODAY?!?

if one doesn't do their 'home-work', but just posts out of emotion or their own personal agenda,
then of course we understand where you are coming from, a friend of the world'...

be a true Friend of your Saviour, and don't be afraid to speak Truth if you have witnessed it...

you are accusing someone who was there...so, try and choose your words in wisdom instead
of emotion or personal perception...
