Thank you for the info. When I came to this Forum earlier, this Thread was on the page. Next time I will check the date of the Thread before commenting. Still, it was a question worth responding to simply because of the wrong assertion.
Thanks be to God for your correction. This thread is not old at all if you compare it with the book this whole forum is all about (i.e. The Holy Bible). We all benefit from every correction even to things that happened Millenia ago. Besides, it is important to please God, not people.
You do not have to check the date of threads in the future as that does not offend anybody, let alone the fact that nobody has the right to restrict your freedom to do good. It is a good idea to bring old threads back to life, especially when it is beneficial to discuss the ideas in them again today (ideas are timeless).
In response to this thread, God sometimes tells us through his prophets not to obey our parents if they don't obey him themselves and actually get in the way of true faith in God. God tells us to leave them to seek the Kingdom of Heaven.

On the other hand, when parents are good believers and followers of the Lord, you must
honor your parents (not obey) lest you be put to death otherwise:

Matthew 15:4 (WEB)
4 For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16 and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9

Only true children (people who have not reached puberty) are commanded to obey their parents without resistance because they have not developed enough yet to be able to follow the right path of Jesus Christ and resist the pitfalls of Satan. As such, they are blessed by God through their parents and must always obey them as such until reaching adulthood.
God gave believers wisdom to discern good from evil and know when and where to apply the teachings of the Holy Bible. That is in fact the whole point of following God; that is to manifest good in the world and benefit everyone in it. Do not misapply the teachings of the Holy Bible. Only do what is good and holy instead.
Godspeed
