Out of the heart, the mouth speaks. Only a guilty conscious would compel someone to proclaim, "I am not tempted to do (fill in the blank)." But having a guilty conscious doesn't make you guilty. It just proves you feel someone may think you are guilty. Because it's a defense statement.
Like God said to Adam, "Who told you that you were naked?" Adam felt guilty because he wandered away from God.
Adam answered, "I hid because I was afraid."
We try to hide our weaknesses because we don't want anyone to think we're guilty of something. But rest assured, not a one of us has anything in our flesh that is holy. We can't compare ourselves with ourselves. Our flesh was crucified with Christ. We now live with Jesus as the standard and by His Spirit dwelling within us walk according to his ways, not ours.
