Why does the Trinity Broadcasting Network continue eliminating end times ministers on their network?

Founder of EndTime Ministries and host of End of the Age, Irvin Baxter is yet another minister in the growing list who has been silenced by the largest Christian network on TV.

In his January 21st announcement, Baxter declared:

"You probably have heard by now about the passing of Paul Crouch, founder and President of TBN. Paul believed strongly in EndTime Ministries and was a great friend of our program. With his departure, his wife Jan has assumed the management of TBN. I have never met Jan but apparently she does not have a strong interest in Bible prophecy. As a result, our program, as well as several other prophecy programs on TBN, has been discontinued. Wednesday, January 15th was our last time to air. I wanted you to know because many of you watch our program, “End of the Age”, on TBN. We can continue to be viewed on the Church Channel, which belongs to TBN, the Daystar Network, TCT and on other venues." EndTime Ministries

It began with Hal Lindsey in January of 2006, when the International Intelligence Briefing notified TBN that he would not return due to, what he considered to be, 'efforts to muzzle his opinions about radical Islam.'

Lindsey, best selling Christian end times author, had anchored the program for 12 years on the world’s largest Christian network.

Then, in August of that same year, Zola Levitt Presents, a long-running, weekly TV program often critical of the jihadist principles within Islam, was also canceled by Trinity Broadcasting Network. TBN producers claimed it was due to their efforts to gratify its growing audience in the Arab world.

A few years later, in 2011, well known prophecy teacher, Jack Van Impe, was discharged over his criticism of Christian leaders Rick Warren of “The Purpose Driven Life” fame, and Robert Schuller from the now defunct Crystal Cathedral after they adopted a policy often referred to as "Chrislam" - which involves finding common ground between Islam and Christianity.

In most cases those efforts to “reach out” to Muslims involves incorporating the beliefs or practices of Islam into their Christian organizations. Several churches have allowed Muslim Imams to pray and preach from the pulpit to their congregations with Brian McLaren of the emerging church movement even taking part in the Islamic Ramadan celebration.

When TBN refused to run a program where Van Impe highly criticized leaders like Rick Warren and Robert Schuller for their Chrislam efforts, he announced, “I Will Not Be Silenced! I will not allow anyone to tell me what I can and cannot preach.”

He added, “When I see heretical teaching leading to apostasy, I will speak out. The Bible says ‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:’ (II Timothy 3:16).

The Apostle Paul also gives instructions in Titus 1:9-11, 13 ‘Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers … Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake…Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith.’”

Although Islam was not listed in the reasons given for Irvin Baxter's recent departure from TBN, it is noteworthy to mention that he too spoke out often against Islam in his programs.

Has TBN become fearful of end times prophecy teachings? Or, are they more concerned with political correctness, afraid they might offend Muslims and pro-Muslim/Chrislam advocates?

You would think they would want to keep that programming since they rake in so much bucks. Or, it could be that they make more by doing a different telethon each week...or twice a week. Gotta get those "faith" seeds sown. As they say, "God is obligated to make you rich..." If I walk and turn the station on right now they'll be reaping right out of peoples wallets.

Maybe they are just cleaning house for these false prophets, who they are tired of predicting the end, when it doesn't happen on their schedule?

But they DO have video camera set up to capture the rapture. Which is really kind of stupid of them. Especially since every eye will see when he returns...and for free. So there will not be a need to 49.95

TBN, in censoring those who speak against Islam and Chrislam is trying to be politically correct, to not take sides in a growing controversy. I would not want to be in their CEOs shoes on judgment day.

If they were to put up with the criticism of Islam they would completely lose that part of the market. They fleece others. At least they're EO

If TBN itself were cut maybe people would read the bible for themselves...and get some truth...without the infomercials, telethons, book sales, latest health and vitamin sales, etc

It's all about business. They spoke out against a market they're trying to get & they cut them off, plain & simple.

Their not concerned about offending anyone...especially if there could be money involved. Jesus were to show up in the studio I wonder if He could even make a big enough whip.

This is exactly why I quit watching TBN several years ago. Paul Crouch
made the comment on his 1:00 (EST) program....We must open our arms
to the muslim community. I know he was not doing it out of love for them.
Obviously he wanted to get rich from doing this.
I knew this was going in a bad direction. I was already questioning the
direction they were going in. I could not take anymore.
I pray the Lord bless the men who are not afraid to speak out the truth.
Now, IMO, the strong men who were leading the way to the truth, were
actually the strongest support of TBN. When we see men simply act as
if all is well and the prosperity gospel is the ONLY way to go, I have a
feeling we will see TBN begin to crumble. JMO ~

It is not just TBN. Most "Christian" networks focus on getting "partners" to support their "ministries'. They tell people if you will support us...God is obligated to bless them. This is coercion...if a minister charges money for some great teaching or revelation that people need to know...but charges money for it...they are doing no more then the Sham Wow guy. It is also no different than selling animals in the temple and charging people more because these animals are the ones you "must have". It was a racket back then and it is still a racket now. Except the sales are now televised. It's sickening and soon God's patience will run out. Is it any wonder the church is in the condition that it is in today?

The church in China, and other overseas churches have been experiencing persecution for years. Yet, since it has not reached us yet, it does not seem to matter. Because...after all...we're America. God's favorite nation.

I dislike hearing these words....
"Go get your credit card out and call us and we will get
your order out to you right away."

Why do I dislike this ? Because it wasn't many years ago
we were warned about Credit Cards. And preachers actually
taught the congregation the trap credit cards held. Not to
speak about it will be leading up to the mark of the beast.
Getting off track here. Sorry.

Warning: Going into credit card debt ensnares you and thinking
the Rapture is going to occur soon, so you don't have to pay
your bills. Yeah, that has been an old deception in past.

I don't get TBN around here. Reception was spotty to begin with, but it went out a couple of years ago, and i never got it back. I didn't watch it much before anyway, but it was nice having that children's cartoon channel. The local station is only a few miles away. PBS only comes on in certain parts of town, too.

I am not sure if I heard Jack Van Impe's comments on Rick Warren. I think i have. I've read similar criticism and heard them form a local pulpit, from a preacher who lamented on people bad-mouthing him.

I looked at the declaration, areas of agreement that Rick Warren signed. I didn't see anything outright heretical in it. If Muslims and Christians agree that people should worship the God of Abraham, I don't see that as a problem. I don't consider that to be 'Crislam.' Some of the extremes of 'insider movements' with Jesus mosques, people going to mosques and secretly changing the prayers, that might be considered 'Chrislam' (or 'crisis' as one preacher, and critic of it described trying to mix Islam and Christianity.) I'm okay with staying with cultural forms and religious practices that actually biblical. I think it's fine if female converts cover their heads and people prostrate (translated 'worship' in the Bible) when they pray.

I don't think it's fair to accuse Rick Warren of syncretism based on what I've read. I am not in favor of having nonChristians of any type lead prayers in church. What about joining in Rahmahdan celebrations? Christians in a Muslim country I went to would eat at events to break fasts or meals for Idul Fitri. Muslims would go to Christmas dinners. The Christians don't go to the mosque to partake in prayers and religious festivities. The Muslims didn't usually go to church services. A lot of Christmas parties were actually mixed in with religious events, so Christians were more likely to go to some kind of dinner for breaking a fast, IMO, when I was there. I don't see a problem with this. Eating dinner with a Muslim is not a sin, and it's not a religious event per se. Christians call God 'Allah' in that country, which seems to be cognate with the Hebrew word for God based on the linguistic speculations and derivations of scholars in Semitic linguistics.

On eschatology, I can't find the pre-trib rapture in the Bible, but that's all you get on the topic from TBN. I am not upset that they pull more pre-trib rapture stuff off TV. Back in the 1990's, they had this show with two brothers who would talk about some new technology. The first half of the show would be about the technology, and the second half would be how the technology could be used to make the mark of the beast. So many aspects of theory that have developed are treated as doctrine though they aren't stated in scripture-- like the idea that the mark will be some kind of implanted microchip technology, or the idea that the 144,000 will be evangelists. After watching that show a bit, I realized how boring and repetitive it was. I saw Hal Lindsey's show way back when and it had a high snooze factor, IMO. Intelligence reports aren't as important as preaching the Gospel. I hope they filled in the time with that.

When it comes to saying inflammatory things about Muslims, just practically, I think they have to be careful not to do that. At the least, they should restrict certain shows in some areas. Maybe their satelites aren't set up for that. Paul preached against idolatry, but they didn't have a specific charge against him for saying bad things about Diana in Ephesus.

Apparently it is okay to go into credit card debt if you are sending money to them or for their products (statues, prayer shawls, cd, dvd, sweaty prayer cloths, etc. By sending them your "faith seed" I supposed the credit card companies will be nice and not charge a person interest? You're right. Ministers and teachers used to teach on the subject of going into debt.

I guess this does not apply to them.

The network has removed programs that some viewers found to be anti-Islamic, and has replaced them with new programming. People have been complaining about TBN's change in programming, and are saying that it is a sign that the end times are near. Other people are saying that the network has made the change because of low ratings.
