Living and making a difference will make sense when it is in accordance to what the Bible says and is also according to the way Jesus lived. what do you think? I would like to gain insights by starting this thread.

That is right, when it is in accordance with what the Bible says and is done the way Jesus lived or did it. We are to different!! We are not of this world. We are to be the Light of the world, and Salt of the earth. We are to different. We go against the world's mindset and ways of doing things. We have no fellowship with the works of darkness, but rather expose them.

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you" (John 15:19).

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16).

"For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them" (Ephesians 5:8-11).

the biblical references are really insightful, especially being compared to salt, if it looses its essence then it is of no use...which is true for us Christians, if Christ is not visible in the way we deal with others and the way we lead our life then life is just meaningless.
