It should have been done when they were very little plants. With them budding out they may have a deep root system. It might be too late to disturb the roots. But you'll have better tomatoes if you cut away some of the plants. They seem to be choking right now. Take some good scissors and cut as low as you can some of the stalks with the least blooms.

Hi Deade...I went and cut back a lot of the stems now , so hopefully this will help , thank you for the tips...I have quiet a lot of flowers coming on the stems , I hope I have a nice little crop , and yes I think it is to late to separate them...Shall I keep cutting back the new leaves that come through...xox...
