I'm not an Elvis fan at all - not my era and I don't like old-fashioned gospel singing. But I do appreciate the fact that he had a wonderful, powerful voice. Apparently, Elvis was very religious (though his lifestyle at times didn't show it). I always noticed as well in the few interviews I've seen with him that he was very respectful of the interviewer, calling them Sir or Ma'am.
I saw a movie of him with I think Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Elvis was so overwhelmed with stardom at an early age, that he couldn't handle it. Apparently girls were tearing all his clothes off at one performance, and he had to be hustled out by body guards. He had no guidance except his Dad.
Such a shame
My mom and her sisters are big fans of Elvis. It is such a heartbreak how his life turned so badly and for the worst. And ultimately a lifestyle that took his life at far too young an age.
Love his rendition of that old Gospel classic.
God have mercy sir. Your fans will always miss you. Your voice lives on.
