The reason for the overabundance of cookie cutter metalcore is it sells. I remember writing to a Christian METAL label, and they announced the signing of two metalcore bands. I wrote complaining that he signed metalcore. He said it was either that or go out of business, because many metal projects are not full bands, they don't tour, they don't stay active long enough to form strong followings and that he was making no money off metal as a result. On the other hand, every metalcore release Christians would eat up. So the problem is our industry is being dictated by people with no interest in making good music, they're happy to buy any new piece of metalcore junk that comes out.
I remember Alethian. I also remember when their guitarist quit to join BTA, and saw a small set of them live, with him as the guitarist. Now there is a new project featuring members of BTA and Alethian called Solamors...
