Do you watch movies that aren't exactly holy?
I really liked the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but my mom grounded me for watching it.
But so many movies have swearing and sex it's hard to find a good one that's completely clean![]()
It is hard to find movies that are clean. When my mom was a little kid in the early 1950s her parents used to go to drive in movies because then my mom and aunt could sleep in the back of the car and they wouldn't need a babysitter. My mom loved the movies and would watch them as long as she could stay awake. The crazy thing is that those movies were not meant for children but they were appropriate for children. It would be pretty hard to find a movie like that today. I've seen the odd movie for grown ups that doesn't have anything inappropriate in it, but they wouldn't hold a kid's attention. It seems that most movies now that are appropriate for the whole family are primarily aimed at kids, like the Pixar movies. I saw Up on Friday night (I always see Pixar movies as soon as I can) which was entertaining enough for adults, but it is a kid's movie.
Anyway, for that reason a lot of the movies I see seem to have a lot of adults only stuff in them. I judge a movie based on how things are protrayed and whether or not they cause me to struggle. I mean violence is a big one. Violence in a movie can either be glamorized or shown for what it is, such as in Saving Private Ryan.
Christianitytoday.com's movie reviews are really good at recognizing that. They won't give a movie a bad review solely based on the presence of such things, but rather how they are protrayed. At the end of each review it has a detailed list of all the bad things in it (ie swearing, violence, nudity, sex, drug use etc). I highly suggest you check it out.
