At some point, I thought I might start giving some extra clues if necessary; however, I was really hoping more people would jump in and play.
I applaud you if you try to figure it out on your own before running off to the internet.
But - when those ideas are gone - well - nothing wrong with venturing out a bit...
Back to the future? I haven't seen it but I think there was a professor and a few things you said made me think of time travel.

Since you "touched on it" - my next clue:
The movie has a time travel aspect to it.
I always [first] try to see if I can figure these things out without any "outside" help. Sometimes, when all avenues are exhausted, I decide to "venure out a bit"...I applaud you if you try to figure it out on your own before running off to the internet.
But - when those ideas are gone - well - nothing wrong with venturing out a bit...
I am guessing that everyone else does the same thing - the only question is - how long is it before they are headed for the internet?
Haha I don't watch a lot of movies in general so will probably sit this password out. I should watch BTTF sometime though for cultural literacy.

Umm, Gary ....... when you throw out that many clues all at once to the point that a simple Google search will reveal the answer, then say you did it for the "wimps"...... that's like saying anyone who solves it now is a wimp. So nobody wants to solve it

Like, I'm too dumb to try to answer but don't want to be quite wimpy enough to look it up, so I don't even try.
Not quite like that ladies - in a way, it was the reverse - I will explain later when I can use a real keyboard to write the post. It was meant with humor but with a serious side also.
