But DID jesus say to love our neighbor?

HE has just added something to faith.

FAITH ALONE is a dead faith.

I guess we're discussing Sola Fide.

Many of the reformers, like Luther, believe the Book of James is not scripture

Luther even tried to get James removed from the Bible. clueless-doh.gif

please tell me you understand the difference between being saved by faith alone and having faith alone.

@Just_A__Follower

Let me make it easy...must leave soon:

SAVED BY FAITH
We are saved by faith alone....
Nothing else saves a person.
No amount of works will save us.

HAVING FAITH ALONE
Some believe that all we need is faith AND NOTHING ELSE ADDED even after we're saved.
They believe works are not necessary.
Some believe even obedience to God is a work,
Ssome believe works are an insult to God because He needs no help from us and they call our good works filthy rags.

Can a once truly saved believer backslide too much and lose the gift of salvation? If so do they need to repent and ask for forgiveness through Christ again? Thoughts are welcome and scripture too!

“Can a once truly saved believer backslide too much and lose the gift of salvation?”

“I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭

“Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: for if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭11:20-22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3:16-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Ssome believe works are an insult to God because He needs no help from us and they call our good works filthy rags.
Isaiah 64:6. I wouldn’t say it’s an insult. A filthy rag is better than no rag at all. A filthy rag will help clean up a mess but it won’t perfectly clean the area. It will leave some mess behind.

There IS a difference.
Now to explain?
There are a handful of versions that were derived from the KJV. Many of the modern versions were translated from the Hebrew and Greek texts. None of them including the KJV are perfect. There is no way to perfectly translate something from one language to another unless the original author is bilingual and translates it himself. We do have many tools at our disposal now such as concordances and dictionaries that we can doublecheck with. And no I don’t doublecheck everything to the KJV. When I double check I doublecheck to the Greek or the Hebrew.

With the KJV for instance, do you use the modern version or the original?

I’ll just agree to disagree on the Bible being a rule book.

As far as baptism I’ll just put it this way. When one truly believes and places their faith in Christ they are saved. They are saved from that point, not from the point that they get wet. We are cleansed by His blood. Nothing we do can remove our sins. Just as we are called to love each other, give to the poor, etc., these things don’t save us. We do them because we are saved.

You do know the way you think does not line up with HIS word right??

We have free will, we can believe anything you like.

Keep this in mind when we stand in front of JESUS HE will be the one judging with the same book HE left for us to read, ALL of it.

Do you think He will be holding an English KJV version in His hands?

So?

Let's look at the thinking of saint Ouch.

The saved have to get water baptized to be saved?
But, they are saved?

The saved have to get water baptized to remove our sins,
because the Cross was not sufficient?

As the King James would say?

You logic sucketh!

Did you notice I didn't say anything, I just shared HIS word.

So you having a problem with it, your problem is with JESUS not the messanger.

What is bad is people like you get showen HIS word and you don't like it so is that good logic?

Were the disciples saved before Pentecost and were they of Jesus?

Yes they were saved (regenerated) but they were not in Christ (baptized with the Spirit). They did receive an anointing from Christ to hold them together (so to speak) while waiting for Pentecost, much like the OT prophets received which, is analogous to the filling of the Spirit today. And just as the OT anointing could be given and lost (or taken back once the job was done), so too today the filling of the Spirit can be lost when we sin. That's when we apply 1Jn.1:9 to recover. But apart from that one time filling without the baptism, we now receive the filling when we are baptized. It doesn't make sense to be filled at some later undefined time which the scripture never mentions.

John 20:22
And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

Not sure what you mean the question.

LOL, SORRY, I thought you was commenting to a comment I made to someone else.

JESUS doen't need any bible HE knows everything, how many hairs are not on my head, how much sand is on the beach.

People who will not follow HIS word will be shocked, but it is what it is.

Indwelling is different than being filled. We are responsible to be filled with the Spirit, but have nothing to do with being indwelled. One is the work of the Spirit placing us into the body of Christ and the other involves our daily submission and yielding to the Spirit.

That's what he said. You are agreeing with @Genez? There really are miracles. :D

1. Are we born in sin?

2. If so how de we get rid of them?

In the mean while...

We are all born with a fallen nature.
Thus?
Born in sin.

Jesus got rid of the consequences for sin, in our place, on the Cross.
