The Commandments and Eternal Life

This is legalism, Judaism, and heresy.

Here is what you wrote.

Jesus showed that eternal life is not earned by wealth or words, but by living in obedience to God’s law. The commandments are the practical way to love God and love others.

You just said that eternal life is by living according to the law. That is heresy.

You are not under the grace of Jesus Christ.

At the bottom of your post there are 2 options, reply or report. if you continue to accuse me and cause further trouble I may press report next time, it is not my type to do so and it would be a first and hopefully a last but i will let them know, in this case it would be justified.

And yes I am a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ.

Go ahead and press the report button but don't forget to report everyone who points out the way you twist scripture. I asked if you were a Christian. I know you say you follow Jesus, but you choose which parts you follow.

I am a Christian and so are others here. You are on a Christian forum. Understand that saying you follow Christ and calling yourself a disciple, does not mean you are aligned in your faith with actual Christians here. Mormons, SDA, Jehovah's Witnesses and other say
they follow Christ but they obviously are not aligned with actual biblical beliefs.

Acknowledging you are a Christian, means you agree with the gospel as presented in scripture. You agree that Christ is the only way to God and you agree that He died for your sins and was resurrected and has ascended into heaven.

You agree that you have received the Holy Spirit upon conversion and you agree that the commandments do not play a part in salvation at all.

You do not agree to these things, you know you do not agree to these things and we all know you do not agree to these things.

You never mentioned Aarons rod that budded and the golden jar containing the manna.

They were in the Ark and hold the same significance as the stone tablets.

You never mention them?

The two most important commandments were also written in the "rest of the law".

These two commandments were not in the ark itself.

Your interpretation is broken.

Let’s look at what the Bible says about the Ark and its contents.

God commanded that the Ark contain the two stone tablets of the Ten Commandments, the covenant itself:

“And you shall put the Testimony (the tablets of the law) into the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord your God.”
Deuteronomy 10:5 (NKJV)

He also commanded that Aaron’s rod that budded and a golden jar of manna be kept as signs:

“Bring Aaron’s rod back before the Testimony, to be kept as a sign against the rebels.”
Numbers 17:10 (NKJV)

“Take one jar and put it before the Lord, to be kept for generations to come.”
Exodus 16:33–34 (NKJV)

Each item had a specific purpose. The tablets were the covenant itself, the law God wrote. The rod showed God’s choice of the priesthood. The manna reminded Israel of God’s provision.

The two great commandments that Jesus later taught (“love God… love your neighbor”) summarize the Ten Commandments—they were never physically in the Ark but reflect the heart of the law (Matthew 22:37–40).

The Ark and its contents were placed carefully to teach Israel about God’s law, His provision, and His order. The tablets remained central; the rod and manna were reminders. Hebrews 9:4 later confirms this same arrangement:

“The Ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant.”

So the Ark shows that the covenant (the Ten Commandments) is at the center, while God also provides signs to remind His people of His care and authority.

thank you Inquisitor, I had forgotten about this verse that proves once more the 2 tables of stone, containing the Ten Commandments are in fact the Covenant and with a Bonus it is in the New testament! So No one can claim anymore it was only for the Jews.

Note: I did reply to your 2 unanswered questions about the Law of Christ and Royal law, I do not know if you found the thread.

The Commandments and Eternal Life

Jesus taught that God’s commandments are not only the guide for living well now, but also the path to eternal life.
There it is! Straight from the horse's mouth -- salvation by works.

Jesus taught that God’s commandments are not only the guide for living well now, but also the path to eternal life. Keeping them is how we walk in God’s ways and remain close to Him.

Eternal life is through faith in Christ, in His shed blood and the new covenant confirmed by His blood.

It is not in keeping the commandments, which no one can fully keep as the Bible tells us many times, and the commandments judge all who cannot keep them. Yet here you are again, promoting your unbiblical salvic plan and you have the nerve to say you follow Christ.

What you believe and post are nothing short of veiled mistruths that do not align with scripture.

Jesus showed that eternal life is not earned by wealth or words, but by living in obedience to God’s law. The commandments are the practical way to love God and love others.

A confession of actual beliefs right here.

He believes salvation is earned. But then, he mixes in some truth with talking about loving God and others.

Wake up and do not be fooled by this deceptive kind of mixing truth with error. It is the worst sort of false teaching.

You just said that eternal life is by living according to the law. That is heresy.

You are not under the grace of Jesus Christ.
The context here is the ten commandments not the rest of the law of Moses as you know very well.

Let’s clarify;
the text I posted does not say that we earn eternal life by the law as a “work” or “payment.” It says that Jesus taught the way to eternal life is through obedience, which shows our heart belongs to God. Jesus Himself said:

“If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
Matthew 19:17 (NKJV)

when will this verse of Jesus sink in Inquisitor?

Notice that Jesus does not say “obey to earn life” like paying a debt. He says that the commandments are the practical way to love God and others, and this love is the evidence of trusting and following Him. Obedience flows from a heart transformed by God, not from trying to earn life by effort.

Jesus’ death and resurrection are the foundation for salvation. Without Him, no one could live fully in obedience. His obedience, His death, and His resurrection make it possible for us to obey God’s commandments from the heart, why? Because He sent the Holy Spirit to His people, as He said:

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
John 14:26 (NKJV)

The Holy Spirit works in our hearts to guide, strengthen, and remind us of God’s commandments, making obedience a natural response to His love. YOU should KNOW this why dont you?

In other words, eternal life comes because of God’s grace and the work of Christ, but it is lived out through the law of love, the commandments that He teaches. Obedience is the fruit of salvation, not the price of it.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
John 14:15 (NKJV)

So keeping God’s commandments is not heresy, it is following Jesus as He taught, empowered by Him, in response to His grace and love.

I was actually surprised to see you agreeing with what he posts.

Do you agree that you go to hell if you do not observe the Sabbath?

Do you agree that Jesus only started salvation and we complete it by obeying the 10 commandments?

Do you agree that we can now perfectly keep the commandments?

If you do, then I would sadly have to tell you that you also do not understand the salvation God provided for us.
Some of these folks can be very cunning but eventually their true colors are exposed.

Example:

Jesus taught that God’s commandments are not only the guide for living well now, but also the path to eternal life.

Jesus showed that eternal life is not earned by wealth or words, but by living in obedience to God’s law.

Such folks may claim they teach salvation by grace through faith, not works, but what they actually teach is salvation by grace plus law, faith plus works.

just to lighten up the mood in the video below, who is @Inquisitor, @pinebeach or @mailmandan;

If they missed the true message of your posts before, do you think they will finally get it with this one? :)
probably not but I know why, it is sad I wish it would be different.
Please keep posting those messages though. They are very encouraging and nice reminders to God's people!
Thank you, I will.

Vassal, go to Got Questions and see what an actual Christian is. Got Questions is an easy to understand site and they use scripture to prove what they say. Now I don't agree with their stand on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, but otherwise I think that site can be pretty helpful.

Here's the link. and another about salvation here

and here is a link about whether or not the commandments play a part in salvation and if we will be saved if we obey them
