Jesus Only” (often called the Oneness or “Apostolic” movement) is a modern form of Modalism — a doctrine that denies the Trinity and teaches that God is one Person who reveals Himself in different modes or manifestations rather than existing as three distinct, co-eternal Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).

Baptism in Jesus’ Name only.
They reject baptism “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Matthew 28:19 KJV) and insist that the true formula is baptism “in the name of Jesus Christ” (Acts 2:38 KJV).

Baptism is essential for salvation.

They teach that water baptism is part of the new birth (John 3:5) and is necessary for forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38).

To them, an unbaptized believer has not yet been “born again.”
Faith, repentance, and baptism form a single, inseparable process of salvation.
So, salvation = Repentance --> Baptism in Jesus’ name--> Receiving the Holy Spirit (with tongues)

If you skip baptism, they say your sins are not yet remitted.
The “Jesus Only” (Oneness Pentecostal) doctrine is historically and theologically considered heresy by the mainstream Christian Church (Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox alike).

Wrong thread, perhaps? 🤔

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us a great warning about False Christ & Prophets

MATTHEW 24:23-24
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

If you know the Bible, the nature of God, the nature of Christ, and He is Lord and Savior, and the commandments of God, there is no way you will be deceived by anybody.

A false Christ or false prophet seeing that God is not working in their life will have the element of human nature there.

So they would not measure up to the truth of the Bible.

And they would be motivated by arrogance, and self exaltation, being of the occult, and wanting power, where Christ was a humble servant.

Also Jesus will never appear in the flesh again once He obtained a glorified body, and there is no need for Him to do that for He only needed to provide salvation once for all.

Some people say they do not understand end time prophesy but a person does not have to know every detail of it.

But if they go against the belief in a personal God and His commandments, and His love and mercy to love your enemies, and do no harm to a person feeding and clothing your enemies, and Jesus is Lord and Savior, do not go along with them.

Which in the future the world will go against that by stopping the belief in a personal God, the preaching of the Gospel, going against His love and mercy where they persecute all people who oppose them which the Bible says their conscious is seared with a hot iron, going against His commandments of love and morality.

It is not hard to know they are a false Christ or false prophet.

Them being like that the desires of their flesh would stick out like a sore thumb and would give them away motivated by arrogance and power and not the love and mercy and morals of God.

For in the flesh dwells no good thing.

Also a false Christ or false prophet would not claim Jesus as Lord and Savior claiming He is the Christ for they want to exalt themselves.

They might claim He is a great teacher or was exalted spiritually but they will claim they are greater and the solution for the prosperity of the world.

Like the the new age christianity where they interpret all religions the same who look at Jesus as a great teacher, and divine, who became an ascended master among others, but they will not claim him as Lord and Savior, and the New Age Christ is greater than him.

Which is the best example I can give but all of them will follow that pattern whatever their beliefs are because they are motivated by the flesh.

Knowing someone is a false Christ or false prophet is easy to know.

They might fool people wondering and having doubts about Christianity and do not have a foothold on the truth.

But they will not fool someone who accepted the truth as iron clad truth.

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Rev 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Those that are settled in the truth will not be deceived which is why Jesus said they would deceive the very elect if it were possible because it is not possible.

But the world and those wavering concerning the truth will be taken by it.

Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

Also Jesus will deliver the elect from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

There can only be one temptation that can come upon the world at the same time which is when the nations come together to work for peace saying they have the solution to stop the fighting, and the truth of religion.

The 7 Churches is a prophetic statement to how the Church age would go in popular influence and if any faults God always has people in the truth.

Which you can see the Catholic Church there and the Protestant movement.

The Church that Jesus said He will deliver from temptation He did not have fault with them.

Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

Pro 30:10 Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

Pro 30:11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.

Pro 30:12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Pro 30:13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

Pro 30:14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

And now we are at this Church age which we can see.

The 6th and 7th Church could not have happened in the first century but it would have to happen in the time of technology.

With the temptation that shall come upon the whole world.

And the saints heaping money to themselves because technology is causing money to flow like a raging river.

You've really got to watch out on this forum. I've run in to a bunch of these “Jesus Only” (often called the Oneness or “Apostolic” movement) is a modern form of Modalism — a doctrine that denies the Trinity and teaches that God is one Person who reveals Himself in different modes or manifestations rather than existing as three distinct, co-eternal Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) crowd...

Yes you can see in the creation that there is God. Yes, you can understand God revealed Word through the Holy Spirit. But you cant claim that God revealed everything what he did and how he is, in his word!!!
I never said HE did if you read what I said. I said man is incapable of knowing all there is to know about God outside of the means to which HE provided to us to know him.

I haven't read all the replies so someone else may have said this.

The answer is overwhelmingly simple.

Read and study the Scriptures diligently every day till you take your last breath. THAT'S how you know. Never stop reading and never stop getting to know him as he has revealed himself in Scripture.

Without the revelation of Jesus. No one knows who is the false Christ and false Prophets.
Even his disciples should listen to Jesus first before they know who are the false Prophets.
MATTHEW 16:6-8 & 12
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8 Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

Even in our generation today.

Without Jesus no one could distinguish the false Christ and the false Prophets.

Perhaps other readers think.
Where is Jesus who can tell to us who are they.

If Jesus was existed in the New Testament and he said in Matthew 24:35 that his words never pass away.
Therefore Jesus is also existed in our generation.

Who is Jesus the equivalent of Jesus today?
Jesus is the word of God.
REVELATION 19:13
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

And Jesus said. He will come in the form of the book.
HEBREWS 10:7
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

There is only one book where Jesus is written as the word of God.
It is the holy bible. So, the holy bible that we have today is the equivalent of Jesus.

Now we can ask Jesus who is the false Christ and the false Prophets.
He will answer us thru his words.

That's not what Jesus said

But how can we know what Jesus said without reading? And how can we furthermore understand His teachings, the implications of His life and death, the perfect fulfillment of prophecy, etc., without reading and studying His Word? We can't. Remember, we aren't talking about salvation here; we are talking about sanctification and the command to renew our minds. That is primarily accomplished through the reading and studying of His word.

The answers are given by Lord Jesus himself. Search, seek and you shall find it. Dont add anymore dead weight to them.

Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

The false Christ is speaking the words of God (Not in truth)
The real Christ is speaking the words of god (Truth)

Then who can distinguish the false Christ where he also speaks the words of God?

Exactly! This is why we must always study Scripture. Look at the Old Testament and how seriously they took to knowing the Scriptures. The only caveat is that the Pharisees knew the Scriptures well and they still missed Him. We must come to our studies with a genuine desire to know Him and make Him known. Thank you for posing this question.

The false Christ is speaking the words of God (Not in truth)
The real Christ is speaking the words of god (Truth)

Then who can distinguish the false Christ where he also speaks the words of God?

Let us remember that when Jesus taught Apostle Paul, Jesus is no longer in this world. But Jesus was able to reveal to Paul who is the false Christ and the false Prophets.
GALATIANS 1:11-12
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

rather than existing as three distinct, co-eternal Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) crowd...

Are YOU three different persons?

God created man in His Own Image so if God is 3 different Gods, then doesn't that make us 3 different people?

1 John 2:23
Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

It's not automatic that a person goes to hell just because they say they believe in Jesus only such as the united pentecostals denomination.

Ever see all the scriptures about the Father?
Ever see all the scriptures about Jesus?
Ever see all the scriptures about the Holy Spirit?

Here’s a couple of passages of scripture nobody can explain away:

Matthew 3:16,17
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are One.

Concerning the trinity... the Father, the Son, and the Spirit... are One!

Pretty hard to explain away something scripture clearly tells us which is... One is Three, and the Three are One.

In fact.... you and I are three that is one (we are a spirit, we possess a soul, and we live in a body)

1 Thessalonians 5:23
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

After all... the Lord did create man in His Own Image.

Genesis 1:26
God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness

That's the Father, the Word, and the Spirit saying "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness"

But how can we know what Jesus said without reading?

Many today think what ever thought pops in to their head is God speaking to them.

That's how we got people supporting abortion and sexual perversion believing they can still be saved (liberals)

Genesis 1:26
God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness

That's the Father, the Word, and the Spirit saying "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness"
That’s actually a good example of how Scripture distinguishes between unity of being and distinction of persons.

When Genesis 1:26 says, “Let us make man in our image,” the plural shows internal distinction within the Godhead — not three gods, but one God who is tri-personal. Notice in verse 27 it immediately says, “So God created man in His own image.”
→ Plural communication, singular action. One divine essence, three distinct Persons.

Your analogy from human composition (spirit, soul, and body) points to unity, yes — but even that doesn’t erase distinction. My spirit isn’t my body, yet both are equally me. Likewise, the Father isn’t the Son, nor the Spirit, yet all are equally and eternally God.

At Jesus’ baptism (Matthew 3:16-17), all three Persons are active simultaneously — the Son in the water, the Spirit descending, and the Father speaking. That isn’t one Person wearing three “masks,” it’s three distinct Persons sharing the same divine nature.

1 John 5:7 affirms their unity: “These three are one.” Not one Person, but one divine essence.

That’s why the early Church didn’t invent the Trinity — it simply named what Scripture already reveals:
→ One God in essence, three in Person.

Grace and peace.

When Genesis 1:26 says, “Let us make man in our image,” the plural shows internal distinction within the Godhead — not three gods, but one God who is tri-personal.

So quit saying God is 3 persons which leads people to think you are saying there's 3 different Gods.

1 John 5:7 is definitive telling us God is ONE person that has 3 parts

Your analogy from human composition (spirit, soul, and body) points to unity, yes — but even that doesn’t erase distinction.

That was not my analogy

The Lord specifically said He created man in His Image and scripture shows man is a 3 part being - spirit, soul, and body

1 John 5:7 affirms their unity: “These three are one.” Not one Person, but one divine essence.

OK so there you go again claiming there's 3 Gods.

No, there is only ONE God and there are 3 parts to His Being.

We were made in His Image so we too are one being made up of 3 parts.,

What part of 1 John 5:7 continues to confuse you? - God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33)

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are One.
I never said there are three Gods — that’s a misrepresentation.

Scripture reveals one divine Being who eternally exists as three distinct Persons — Father, Word, and Spirit — co-equal and co-eternal in essence. That’s exactly what 1 John 5:7 (KJV) affirms: “For there are three that bear record in heaven… and these three are one.”

Being “one” (εἰς ἕν) speaks of unity of essence, not numerical singularity of personhood. The same word is used in John 10:30 (KJV) — “I and my Father are one.” Jesus wasn’t saying He was the Father, but that He shares the same divine nature.

God isn’t “three parts” of one person — He’s one eternal God who exists in three divine Persons. Any view that divides His being into parts risks making Him a composite creature rather than the uncreated, self-existent “I AM.”

Grace and Peace
Acts 17:11 (KJV)
“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

OK so He's ONE God that has 3 parts which is how He made us when He created man in His Own Image as being ONE person made up of 3 parts.

Scripture reveals one divine Being who eternally exists as three distinct Persons

Back to claiming there are 3 different Gods again.

That's like claiming you are 3 different people - sometimes you manifest as a spirit, sometimes as a soul, sometimes as a physical body

Any view that divides His being into parts risks making Him a composite creature rather than the uncreated, self-existent “I AM.”

OK so will you be erasing 1 John 5:7 from your bible than?

1 John 5:7 specifically tells us that God is ONE being saying these 3 are ONE
