Because he was in groups of multiple/many languages. The Lord made it so ALL could hear......Simple.To edify ourselves, but my question would be why did Paul pray in tongues more than the entire Corinthian church?

Tongues were for a specific purpose.....It was used because there were many languages present.Give me an example beyond Acts 2 where tongues is interpreted when it occurs?
Okay, in Acts 2 yes, but what of the other times that people speak in tongues in the book of Acts and nobody was present to hear their language?Tongues were for a specific purpose.....It was used because there were many languages present.
If I were French speaking and had the gift of tongues for the English speaking people in the crowd....Why would the English crowd need an interpreter?
Passage in mind?Okay, in Acts 2 yes, but what of the other times that people speak in tongues in the book of Acts and nobody was present to hear their language?
Passage in mind?
And neither is modern day babble.FYI, Bigfoot is not mentioned in Acts 1:8 or in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 through 14
What's to say it's modern day Babbling? And neither is modern day babble.![]()
That is because you have a secular understanding that the term interpretation has to do with being inspired to speak, not translating word for word as many think. This is a supernatural thing, not a carnal mind-set.Really? Then what is it?
An interpreter is SUPPOSE to translate what is said.
We have Google today.
If we hear ," belgtou wtert qierw tm whae fas wedaq." We can punch it in to Google and the translation is, " Biblical tongues have ceased for today."
To edify ourselves, but my question would be why did Paul pray in tongues more than the entire Corinthian church?

Great question. What's to say it's modern day Babbling?
Claims Must Be Substantiated.true, but Tongues is.
Google translate or app translate. Anybody can look up a foreign language today and have it translated.
When a cessationist says knowledge has ceased.. it's the gift of knowledge.. not general knowledge. The supernaturally empowered gift given.. not knowledge in general.
Just like the gift of tongues..wasn't just people speaking another language..but the super naturally empowered gift given.
The other thing is most cessationists say it just prophecy, tongues and knowledge gifts that ceased..just those 3...there are a number of others in the bible that continue. Faith hope and love being the 3 primary ones with others that were in the OT that continue.
Well the Pentecostal and charismatics are almost unit in the question of the baptism with the Holy Spirit and the sign of speaking in tongues. But it the theology you can find all denominations and directions. F.e You can find calvinism teaching and menonite teaching, which is contrary to each other.
The Pentecostals and charismatics often dont agree with each other teachings.
You can find those with a serious, biblical teaching and those with unserious and non biblical teachings. From far right to far left.
If you are going to come with references, how about you choose theologians or scholars that approach it without presuppositions. Both of the references you gave are Cessationist and against the spiritual gifts being active today. Have you searched any spirit-filled theologians that speak on the gifts that have an opposite view? Also, what about Neutral theologians like N.T. Wright?
no I did my own research on it nowhere is there any records of pagan tongues in the corinthian church and especially not in scripture which we should take over books and commentaries
scholars theorize about it but no there is no actual records of such a thing happening
You just increased my knowledge base on really bad excuses for not believing in scripture. Not just anyone can do that cause I have heard all kinds of things. So, congratulations. Thanks also for clarifying the fact you are a cessationist. Took you awhile though.
