I have to ask this because of things I've read about Alice Weidel and her being the AFD front-runner but is she really openly lesbian? If so it would surprise me that Vance,Trump ect. from MAGA would be backing her considering they are against this in the US.

I think we learned that authoritarianism can happen in America when the COVID-19 lockdowns occurred.
In fact I think that whole episode was a social experiment to gauge Americans complacency in the face of a supposed viral threat. To see if we would sacrifice freedom so to feel safe from a virus.
Could Authoritarianism or Fascism become policy in America?
I would think the system of checks and balances and the U S Constitution would afford a remedy and so preclude such a thing.

If the last election went the other way, the Constitution would have been trampled....
They have a strategy alright; it's called Project 2025. One of its architects, the director of the OMB Russ Vought, is laying low; but his strategy is playing out right before our eyes. The idea is to traumatize to the extent that people are afraid to do anything. There's an authoritarian fascist takeover in the making, and if people keep enabling it, I do believe they'll regret it.
The Republicans in Congress are as traumatized as anyone. They claim to be conservative and want to protect American values and the Constitution; but they're cowering in the corner afraid to do anything while an authoritarian regime takes over. I say primary all of 'em.
