Virtually everything in the OT was a shadow/type of the reality, ie Christ.
When Jesus was quoting verses from the OT they were very important.

The whole Bible is important.

All scripture is inspired

can you show me that the 10 commandments are a shadow law, and that they were nailed to the cross?

There are many verses that state that we should keep the 10 commandments in the new Testament.

Christ does not make the law of God void.
Christ does not make the morals and principles of love void.

Can you understand the difference between keeping the law to gain salvation and..... keeping the law because of your thankful love and appreciation of salvation. ???

Yeah I can, but I won't because you folks just blow it off and keep regurgitating your portfolio of practiced talking points that do violence to the word of God..

Amen! As Jesus Himself said that All the Law and Prophets, Psalms were written about Him..Luke 24:27, Luke 24:44
He is the living example of God, and God is Love, and Jesus obeyed the commandments...

If you want to be like Jesus, you should obey the 10 commandments too.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

We are told that God will write them in our hearts. How can God write His laws in your heart if you keep rejecting them?

Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye hav
e known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. Galatians 4:3-11
Colossians 2:16
Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath.

No you cannot. Because such scripture does not exist. Three things were nailed to the cross. The Decalogue of God was not among those 3.

If you idiots would get your heads out of your collective behinds, you would see that I am mocking the folks that want to tell us that all our days are "pagan based"..... someone said "Sunday" was for the sun god.... I carried it further and said that SATURDAY was for the agricultural god Saturn (look it up).....

good grief.... the "stupid" is strong in here. I think this is even worse than the "KJV only" debates we've had over the years...

I don't pass judgment on anyone who wants to take Saturdays off, but I do have an issue with those who bring anyone under condemnation for not doing so.

I posted this yesterday on another forum but I think it would be useful here so;

Psalm 19:7-10

"The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever; the judgments of the LORD are true, being altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb."

The laws in the Bible form a comprehensive framework of divine instruction designed to guide the lives of the Israelites and, by extension, provide ethical and spiritual principles for humanity. These laws are not a monolithic set of rules but a collection of moral, ceremonial, and civil directives that address various aspects of life. At the core are the Ten Commandments, which are complemented by an array of statutes, ordinances, and precepts. This short guide aims to clarify these distinctions, offering examples from Scripture and insights from external scholarly references, to deepen understanding of the Bible’s legal structure and its enduring significance.

The Ten Commandments: The Heart of Moral Law
The Ten Commandments, recorded in Exodus 20:1–17 and Deuteronomy 5:6–21, are central to biblical law. Unlike other laws, they were inscribed by God Himself on stone tablets (Exodus 31:18), symbolizing their permanence and universality. These commandments address moral and ethical standards essential to maintaining a relationship with God (e.g., "You shall have no other gods before Me" – Exodus 20:3) and with others (e.g., "You shall not steal" – Exodus 20:15).

A key commandment is the Sabbath law (Exodus 20:8–11), which calls for a day of rest and worship, mirroring God’s rest after creation. This principle transcends cultural and temporal boundaries, as seen in modern Christian observances like sabbath worship and Jewish Shabbat traditions.

Statutes: Instructions for Holy Living
Statutes, often described as God’s decrees, detail how the Israelites were to live in holiness. These include dietary laws (Leviticus 11), guidelines for festivals (Leviticus 23), and instructions about sexual morality (Leviticus 18). Statutes frequently shows the distinction between Israel and surrounding nations, reinforcing their identity as God’s chosen people.

Example: The statute against consuming certain animals (Leviticus 11:7–8) reflects both practical health considerations and symbolic purity.

Ordinances: Governing Worship and Justice
Ordinances are specific rules governing religious practices and civil justice. These include instructions for offerings (Numbers 28:1–8), priestly duties (Exodus 29:38–42), and community laws about restitution and fairness (Exodus 21:22–25). Ordinances often address immediate circumstances but also reveal underlying principles of worship, justice, and mercy.

Example: The ordinance of the Passover (Exodus 12:43–49) established a yearly reminder of God’s deliverance of Israel from Egypt, integrating theology into national identity.

Another example is also found in Col 2:14, "Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross" this verse explicitly refers to ordinances, describing how Christ’s sacrifice brought about their fulfillment. Some misunderstand this verse as referring to all of God’s laws, including the Ten Commandments. However, the context and distinction between ordinances and the moral law clarify that it specifically addresses the ceremonial and ritual requirements. The Ten Commandments, being the core moral law written on stone by God’s finger, were never "against us" but reflect God’s eternal character.

Precepts: Daily Guidance for Righteousness

Precepts are practical commandments that emphasize detailed obedience and daily conduct. Psalm 19:8 celebrates them as "rejoicing the heart," highlighting their role in maintaining spiritual alignment.

Example: Deuteronomy 6:6–9 instructs families to meditate on God’s laws and teach them diligently, emphasizing how precepts integrate faith into daily life.

External Reference: The Bible Project provides multimedia resources on how biblical laws connect to God’s larger story, available for free online.

Moral, Ceremonial, and Civil Laws: Key Distinctions

Moral Laws: Represent timeless ethical principles, such as the Ten Commandments. These apply universally and reflect God’s unchanging character.
Ceremonial Laws: Focus on rituals and worship practices, including sacrifices and festivals (Leviticus 16, Exodus 12). Many of these laws are specific to the covenant with Israel.
Civil Laws: Governed societal interactions, such as property disputes and marriage laws (Exodus 21–23), and provided justice and order in ancient Israel

In conclusion, the laws of the Bible, encompassing commandments, statutes, ordinances, and precepts, provide a divine framework for moral, ceremonial, and civil life. At the center of these is the Ten Commandments, which hold a unique and eternal significance. Unlike other laws, the Ten Commandments were written by the finger of God on stone tablets and placed inside the Ark of the Covenant (Exodus 31:18; Deuteronomy 10:1–5), symbolizing their permanence and sacredness.

The Ark of the Covenant, described as God's earthly throne, highlights the centrality of these laws in His covenant with humanity. The special placement of the Ten Commandments within the Ark signifies their role as the core moral foundation, distinct from the statutes and ordinances written by Moses and placed outside the Ark (Deuteronomy 31:26).

This divine significance is further affirmed in Revelation 11:19, where John’s vision reveals the Ark of the Covenant in heaven. This vision underscores that the principles embodied in the Ten Commandments are not merely earthly but eternal, remaining central to God’s plan and authority throughout eternity.

By understanding this distinction, we recognize that the Ten Commandments are not just historical laws for ancient Israel but enduring principles that reflect God’s character and govern humanity’s relationship with Him and one another. Their placement in the Ark and their appearance in the heavenly vision reaffirm their divine origin and unchanging relevance.

They killed Jesus for stating and holding firm to the truth.

God's people have been killed for holding firm to the truth.

How do you think God's remnant will be treated?
Mat 5:10-11
10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

I don't have any issue with people worshiping 7 days, every or any day. But I do have an issue with people saying that the 7th day is not made holy and sanctified. I disagree with people that say it is okay to commit adultery and its okay to freely lie. I also disagree with those that say we should forget the sabbath.

How do you explan ....
Jesus said to keep the commandments.
After being asked which....He quoted from the 10 commandments
He said,
Mat 19:17-19
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Jesus plainly tells this man to obey the 10 commanents.

James plainly tells us to obey the 10 commandments
Jas 2:10-11
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

Paul plainly stated....

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

How do you justify that the 10 commandments are void.

How do you justify that the same law that is holy and just and good is nailed to the cross.

God does not contradict Himself.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Mat 5:17-18
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

All the laws are important. It is the sabbath that is attached the most. Justification by faith alone requires us to believe in the perfect life of Jesus.
But we also believe in loving Jesus...

Do you love Jesus?
1Jn 5:2-3
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1Jn 5:18 KJV We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Is it wrong to love God and keep His commandments...? Which includes the sabbath day. ?
It's telling when anti-Sabbarh leiple who denigrate the laws of God will later claim they attend church on Sunday .

Very strange.

Thats not the truth....
It has been shown that there is a difference between the the laws of ordinance and moral laws.

You refuse to see it and your statement is not true.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;....
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
Understanding which law is vital....

Heb 8:4-5
4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
Heb 10:1-6
1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. 5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Notice the law of ordinances are abolished....

ABOLISHED.

Heb 9:1-2
1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. 2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
Heb 9:9-10
9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10 Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

It is clear that a law was nailed to the cross. And that law was the shadow laws...

No verse states that the 10 commandments are a shadow law.

The new Testament states that we should keep the 10 commandments.

Rom 3:31 KJV Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Jas 2:8-12
8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Mat 5:17-18
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Make sure you understand the difference...

These verses clearly show us that the moral law dose not change ...
The handwriting of ordinances against us was the moral law.

The children of Israel made an oath, to confirm and obey every word. If they failed even one time, they were guilty of the law. james said this himself saying if you keep the whole law yet even stumble in one point your guilty of all

They are also called the minister of death written in stone. Here we have the ten commands.
