You still don't understand.

Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?”
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”

And then:

There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also CEASED FROM HIS OWN WORKS as God did from His.

A man in Christ has no work of his own. He goes where he is led by the Spirit. This is the Sabbath life in Christ.
I don't believe its me that still doesn't understand.

When did God cease from His own works?

Paul's words are God's words if they are in scripture. The Holy Spirit is the author of scripture. No portion of scripture is more authoritative than any other.
how wrong you are.

We are doing His work as instruments in His hands every moment. The quality of our rest in Christ correlates to how well we are led by the Spirit. That takes experience and maturity. We learn obedience by the things we suffer (not by reading words) and by constant use of the things we are shown.

Listen, I get it. The Baptists have trouble with this too.

When you say to them the only compulsion in Christ is to be led by the Spirit they want to crucify you, condemn you, doubt your salvation et.al. They'd rather default to Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion (and his new laws) than to give up control over people lives. Prescribed rules, in black and white, are all the non-Spirit-led people have. The letter of scripture is easily used to trap the immature and so it is used to condemn from the (bully) pulpit and make people afraid.

You can't reason, they keep their own sabbath. They claim the Sabbath was altered into being Jesus, but Jesus rebuked this saying He is Lord of the Sabbath, the Creator Exo 20:11 not the creation, day or commandment. He said not a jot or tittle can pass from His law, heaven would pass before something as small as a dot of an i or cross of a t would pass, yet alone an entire commandment.

Jesus was the Mediator of the New Covenant, not the old as people teach, otherwise we can just strike out much of the gospels because if we are to abide in Him, we are follow Him 1 John 2:6 in His footsteps 1 Peter 2:21-22. He is the way, through no one else. He taught us how to live and His covenant was ratified by His blood, nothing could be added to His covenant after His death. He has all authority.

Jesus gives the best advice in these situations

Matthew 15:3 He answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the [b]commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 ‘These people [c]draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
I agree with what you say. In Honesty, I really wanted to leave this thread last week but got an "insight" to continue, there are some who might understand, it is just difficult to get to them, I will redouble my efforts to try and understand what biblical truths may in some at least, show them the light. I know the cause and it is deeply entrenched in their minds. The remedy is truth, A part of the problem is that some think all scripture is equal, I know it is not, almost all scripture are inspired by GOD but some texts of the new testament are not completely inspired and cause a lot of problem because it makes things easy for them to Just believe and nothing about it. As you know, Jesus said the path to eternal life is a narrow one and warned us about the wide path. I try to warn them as time is closer now to Jesus second return. I am preparing some texts to help clarify hoping they can help.

Ok, so don't follow what the scripture says, nothing you wrote shows when God rested from His works

BUT thankfully God's Word tells us explicitly and we are told to let God direct our paths Pro3:5-6

Heb 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

So we can see from this verse clearly, those who enter in Christ rest ALSO cease rom their works as God did from His.

When did God cease from His works?

This very passage tells us plainly

Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;

It truly cannot be made any plainly than this. One only misses it because they want to.

God rested on the seventh day.

This is a reference to God speaking on Mt Sinai about the seventh day where Hebrews is repeating what God said because it is still remains for God's people

Exo 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying:

but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Which is a reference to Creation

Where it was said THREE times God rested on the seventh day

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

So lets go back to Heb 4:10 and put it in its proper context

Heb 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

To enter into Christ rest, one also ceases from their works as God did the seventh day, which is the Sabbath.

Hence why the Sabbath rest remains for God's people

Heb 4:9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God;

sabbatismos: Sabbath rest
Original Word: σαββατισμός
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: sabbatismos
Pronunciation: sab-bat-is-mos'
Phonetic Spelling: (sab-bat-is-mos')
Definition: Sabbath rest
Meaning: a keeping of the Sabbath, a Sabbath rest.

In Christ rest there is no rebellion against God's commandments, why its just peace.

Isa 48:18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Heb 4:10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Let's break it down...

"For he who has entered His rest..." Here "has entered" is present perfect tense. It means "does and continues to". So, someone enters His rest "enters it and continues in it".

Let's continue...

"has himself also ceased from his works"

So, this is an addendum to the first phrase. The word "also" connects the two phrases.

So what it means is: whomever enters the rest of God ALSO stops doing his own work.

What's the example for this? God Himself...

"..as God did from His."

So, what does the man in Christ do? He rests from his own work. What is the standard for this? Christ Himself!

"Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."

The Son has no work of His own. He only does what the Father is doing. Not what His Father wrote about doing in the past. What He is doing today.

So, how does this relate to us? For one who is led by the Spirit, they also have no work of their own. They go to where the Spirit sends them at every moment. If you do what you want to do 6 days out of 7 YOU are the rebellious one.

Yes friend, our time is drawing near, I do believe Jesus is coming soon.

He really wants us to come out of our false teachings that have been handed down over the centuries

Rev 18:4 4 And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.

Soon we will all have to make our final decisions.

Rev 14: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

The only antidote keeping the commandments of God (His version) and the faith of Jesus.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

Why we are called back to true worship

Rev 14: 6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— 7 saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come;

What does fear God mean? To keep His commandments

Ecc 12: 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:

Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.

14 For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.

This is God's version of His commandments, the ones He wrote and He spoke that He said He would not alter Psa 89:34 not a jot or tittle Mat 5:18 because no one is above God.

Rev 7 continued and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”

and there is no coincidence this is a quote from the Sabbath commandment

11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

The Sabbath is God's seal- has His Name: God Territory: heaven and earth and Title: Creator all three elements of a seal and the Sabbath is a sign we are God's people Eze 20:20

Amen!

You still do not show scripture when God rested from His works.

He only did that by the clear scripture on the seventh day. Heb 4:4 Exo 20:10-11 Gen 2:1-3 repeated over and over.

You do not understand Christ rest, there is no rebellion to Him and His commandments including the Sabbath commandment. No one enters His rest, breaking any of His commandments, this is unrest, not rest. You can see this also in Rev 14:11-12

Those who enter His rest ALSO cease from their works as God did on the seventh day.

All gets sorted out soon enough.

God's Sprit will never lead us away from God's law.

Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

Thats the other spirit we are warned about

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

God's Sprit will never lead us away from God's law.
Correct. It leads us to the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

It's very plain.

But he continues to compare the Law of Christ with the law of sin and death. If they were the same law Paul would have no grounds to compare.

"For what the law (this is the Sinai law) could not do in that it was weak through the flesh" (this is not saying that man was weak but that the law was weak).

The weakness of the law of sin and death was that it required a person to DO the law.

So what was God's answer? He send His own Son.

"God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,

He "condemned sin in the flesh by keeping all the requirements of the law...EVEN UNTO DEATH!
When this occurred, the Son could proclaim "It is finished!".

Let's continue...

"..that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit."

So, Jesus died so that the righteous requirement of the law would be fulfilled in us.
How do we know that the righteous requirement is fulfilled in us?

"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you". That's it: if the Spirit dwells in you.

You want to remove "and" and add words whenever it doesn't fit your religion.

Like above when you quoted "Fear God and give glory to Him..." from Revelation.

You asked "What does fear God mean? To keep His commandments"

Then you pasted this verse from the Old Testament:

"Fear God and keep His commandments..."

See, you took the and out as if it said "Fear God BY keeping His commandments" IN the text "Fear God" remains alone.

Besides, the commandments of God to the Spiritual man, are whatever the Spirit directs. In the Old Testament they would have been the 10 Commandments and the law at Sinai.

You want to add "If the Spirit of God dwells in you AND you keep the 10 Commandments given at Sinai" to qualify the believer as "right with God".

Typical religious trick.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Is one breaking God's commandments by walking in His Spirit? Not according to scripture

1 John 3:24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [e]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Acts 5:32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh

The flesh is not God's law, that was written by God own finger on stone. Its our weakness to sin that is the flesh, not God's law that is holy just and righteous

What is walking the flesh? Its sin, breaking God's law
It's sin- breaking God's law 1 John 3:4 James 2:10-12 Rom 7:7 Mat 5:19-30

, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be [b]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7

What does it mean to set our minds on flesh and be carnally minded?

Because the [c]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

You keep claiming the Ten Commandments is not God's law

God wrote Exo 31:18, God spoke Exo 20:1, God numbered them Exo 34:28, God added no more to them Deut 5:22 and then collectively called them "My commandments" Exo 20:6.

Not much more God could have done to set the Ten Commandments apart from all other laws. God's perfect law converting the soul written by our perfect Savior. Best to let God be God and we to be His humble servants living by His every Word.

Jesus quoted from the Ten calling it the commandment of God- sounds like either God or Jesus is wrong or someone else is.

Mat 15:3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; found right in the Ten Commandments Exo 20:13

Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who [a]do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

Tell us all about how sinless you are. We are all ears...

1 John 1:8-10~ If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His Word is not in us.

This is all sorts of twisted out of context scripture.

Jesus said He was Lord of the Sabbath because He is the Creator of it, when the Pharisees accused His apostles for breaking the Sabbath. You can read about it in Matthew 12. Who better to know how to keep the Sabbath than our Creator.

The issue of the Pharisees according to Jesus, is they wanted to keep their own rules instead of obeying God's commandments, the way God said. They too had their own sabbath adding subtracting from God's Sabbath essentially making themselves their own god, and kept their many traditions overing obeying what God commanded this is what Jesus condemned, not obeying God the way God said. What a sad, sad teaching and sounds like the same deception we heard in the garden, doing the opposite of what God said. Teaching the opposite of what Jesus taught and lived.

Mat 15:1 15 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.”

3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

The path of breaking God's commandments is the path that leads one into a ditch. Jesus tells us to take the narrow path- to follow Him- He kept the Sabbath and if we abide in His love we will also keep His commandments John 15:10 following in His footsteps. 1 John 2:6 instead of the popular teachings of man.
Where your SDA vehicle gets a flat tire is in Acts 15.

Acts 15:8
But some of the sect of the Pharisees who had believed stood up, saying, “It is necessary to
circumcise them and to direct them to keep the Law of Moses.”

Do the Gentiles need to keep the law of Moses including the sabbath?

The reply by the apostles was no.

Acts 15:19-20
Therefore, it is my judgment that we do not cause trouble for those from the Gentiles who
are turning to God, but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated
by idols, from acts of sexual immorality, from what has been strangled, and from blood.

If your interpretation was correct the apostles should have said. But we write to them
that they obey the ten commandments only.

Acts 15 is the focal point of this debate concerning Gentiles and the law of Moses.

You may not believe this is what you are saying, but it is the application of what you posted. By virtue of any writing's inclusion in scripture, it is assumed to possess the wisdom of God. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been included.

So what do you make of those who are walking in the Spirit and who experience the perfect peace of God yet don't prescribe to your understanding of the Sabbath?
Cameron if you walked in the spirit you would follow everything Christ was teaching. Our brother Nehemiah6 sometimes spoke that people receive a different measure of the Holy spirit, perhaps it is the case here also.

John 3:34:
"For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure."
This verse shows that Jesus received the Spirit without measure, in contrast to others who may receive the Spirit in varying measures.

Ephesians 4:7:
"But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift."

Peace.

You may not believe this is what you are saying, but it is the application of what you posted. By virtue of any writing's inclusion in scripture, it is assumed to possess the wisdom of God. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been included.
Cameron, do like I did and STUDY how the books in the bible were put there and why and by who, also you will notice there were quite a lot of shuffling of the bible writings over time, this you can find in published articles found in specialized university libraries, Most are fully accessible online, just go and research this, then we will may discuss again.

if you research the criteria for inclusion or exclusion for texts from the bible, you will be surprised.
