Thanks for letting me know. I'll check back this evening. Hope your day is going well😀
I'm not saying I haven't been a loser today (I concur!), but some medication I took this morning wiped me out which certainly didn't help.

In the spirit of Jesus Christ and the example of Joseph; It is God giving me the strength to do so😀
You're doing an incredible job, which is inspiring! Bless you.

Exodus Chapter 1
The children of Israel multiplied and the land was filled with them.
A new king rose up that didn't know Joseph. Apparently, they didn't have history class back in those days!
The Egyptians put taskmasters over the children of Israel, and they built treasure cities.
But, to the aggravation of the Egyptians, the more they afflicted the children of Israel, the more they multiplied!
The king told the midwives to kill the newborn sons, but the midwives didn't do this. God blessed them for this and made them houses, and the people began to multiply.
Pharaoh, the bleep, charged that every newborn son be cast into the river.

---

Ch. 2
Levi and his wife got together and she conceived. She hid the child, but eventually she had to build him a mini ark and she placed it among the reeds by the bank of the Nile.
Pharaoh's daughter seen the ark, had it fetched, and she felt tender toward the child inside. His mother was given wages to nurse the baby.
She named him Moses. He got older and knocked off an Egyptian, Pharaoh got wind of this and wanted to have Moses knocked off. He fled, ended up in Midian, dwelt there, got married, and had offspring. Meanwhile, the children of Israel are still under heavy bondage.

---

Ch. 3
Moses kept his FIL's flock and led them to the mountain of God where God appeared to him in a flaming bush that did not burn. God would not let him come near until he took off his shoes. This is to humble himself before God. Also, "he 'removed his sandals' and it was left to God to be the redeemer of Israel and all men. God does the redeeming, we are mere instruments.
God says He has come down to deliver the children of Israel out of the hand of the Egyptians and that He's sending Moses to Pharaoh. God gives Moses a heads up that Pharaoh won't let the people go, so God will smite them. Then they will be let go, and the Egyptians will give them an abundance of silver, gold, and clothing.

---

Ch. 4
God turns Moses' staff into a snake, and then back into a staff again. Then He makes Moses' hand leprous and then turns it normal again. God continues to give Moses a heads up about things to come.
God gets angry at Moses for questioning him, but He sends Aaron to help. Thankfully the Lord is patient with our fool selves!
Moses asks his FIL to leave, thus showing respect for his FIL.
Moses takes his wife and sons and heads for Egypt.

v24-26 Moses hadn't circumcised his son, which would have been an overt scandal.
"Once Zipporah circumcised their son, she proclaimed Moses a "bridegroom of blood," shedding light on the significance of blood in covenantal relationships. In this regard, the act was not merely about physical circumcision but also about the spiritual readiness required for Moses to fulfill his divine mission. The necessity of addressing one's own obligations before undertaking greater tasks for God is a recurring theme throughout scripture, emphasizing that faith and obedience must be uncompromisingly upheld before leading others. This encounter illustrates an important principle: God demands faithfulness not only in public deeds but also in private family duties."

Moses meets with Aaron and passes onto to him all God's words and signs. Then they went and gathered all the elders. Aaron passes onto them God's words and signs, and they believed.

---

Ch. 5
Aaron and Moses go to the Pharaoh, but he refuses to let the people go. Instead he makes their life even harder by not providing them straw to make bricks and still demanding the same amount of bricks to be made. The taskmasters made the people go get their own straw. The foremen are beaten and complain. The Pharaoh basically tells them that the people are lazy. So, they give Aaron and Moses a peace of their mind. After this Moses complains to God about the situation.

---

Ch. 6
God again promises to bring the people out of Egypt. He will give them the land of their heritage. Moses passes the message along to the people, but they are fed up.
At the end of this chapter, God again tells Moses to go speak to Pharaoh. Moses again complains about not being a good speaker (uncircumcised lips).

---

Ch. 7
God informs Moses that He will harden Pharaoh's heart that He may lay His hand upon Egypt and the Egyptians will know that He is God.
Moses is 80 at the time and Aaron is 83.
As the Lord commanded, Aaron throws down his rod in front of Pharaoh and it becomes a serpent. Pharaoh's magicians do the same thing, but Aaron's serpent ate their serpents.
Pharaoh's heart is hardened, as the Lord said it would be.
Next up, the water is turned to blood and the fish in the river die and the water stinks. Even the water in the vessels was turned to blood. Pharaoh's magicians did likewise, and Pharaoh's heart was hardened.

---

Ch.8
Next up is frogs. Frogs were brought forth abundantly. Pharaoh's magicians did likewise and brought forth frogs, but apparently they couldn't get rid of the frogs (some magicians they are). So, Pharaoh wanted rid of the frogs. He told Moses he'd let the people go if he gets rid of the frogs. Moses prays to the Lord and the Lord kills off the frogs, this creates a big stink . I can only imagine how stinky it was in Egypt during that time. With the stinky dead fish and now the stinky dead frogs. Having fished in spillways where fishermen would sometimes leave a dead fish or two, it'd be quite stinky. Just imagine a mass of dead fish and frogs.
Pharaoh hardened his heart again. So, God told Aaron to smite the ground and lice came forth. The magicians could not bring for lice. This was a creation of life and they couldn't do it. Only God can create life.
Next up is swarms of flies. This annoys Pharaoh and he tells them to go sacrifice to God, as long as they don't go far. Moses prays to the Lord and He removes the flies, but Pharaoh again hardens his heart.

---

Ch. 9
Next up is the Lord's hand upon the Egyptian's livestock. Meanwhile, no harm came to the livestock of the children of Israel. God has been keeping them free of the plagues.
Pharaoh's heart is still hardened. So, next up comes boils upon the Egyptians. Even on the magicians. Pharaoh's heart remains hardened. Next is fiery, grievous hail. Those that feared God brought their livestock and servants inside, otherwise the hail would kill them. Pharaoh again called upon Moses, Moses again prayed to God and God ceased the fiery hail, and again Pharaoh hardened his heart.

---

Ch. 10
Next we have locusts covering the face of the earth, so that not any of the earth can be seen! They even filled the houses.
Pharaoh's servants have had enough and they ask Pharaoh to let the children of Israel go because Egypt is destroyed. This is so terrible, it's almost comical! ...
Pharaoh called upon Moses, Moses prays to the Lord, the Lord causes a mighty wind to take all the locusts away. What happens next? Oh yes...Pharaoh's heart is hardened...again. So, darkness falls on Egypt. It was so dark you could feel it. They couldn't even move due to how dark it was. This lasted 3 days.
Of course, Pharaoh's heart is still hardened. Poor fella, he needs the ultimate heart doctor (the Lord).

This part was confusing to me, I have to read over this again

Yes, I cringed thinking about that. I think I would have left the country if I was Egyptian😅

Very interesting, did notice this, thank you! Need to go back and review😀

Verite, I think you said to give you a heads up if there are long chapters...or maybe I read that wrong or you were joking
Well, nevertheless I put the amount of verses in each chapter in my notes, in case you'd like to know.

Ch.11, 10 verses
God says He will send one more plague.
God causes the Egyptians to be very favorable to the children of Israel and and they gave them jewels of silver and gold. And Moses was revered.
The final plague was that all the firstborn in Egypt would die, from Pharaoh's firstborn to the servant's firstborn, and even the firstborn of the beasts.
God continued to harden Pharaoh's heart so that God's wonders would be multiplied.

---

Ch.12, 51 verses
God said that that month would now be the first month of the year to them.
On the 10th day of this month, they were to sacrifice a lamb and put the blood on the door posts. They were to eat the roasted meat that night. Only unleavened bread was allowed (no yeasty bread). Bitter herbs were also to be a part of the meal. If any meat remained in the morning, it was to be burned. They were to be fully clothed as if they were going to leave at any moment. This is the Passover.
All those who have the blood on the door posts, the Lord will passover and they will not die. They were not to leave out the door until morning.
The Lord describes how they are to observe the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. Unleavened bread was symbolic. "Unleavened bread represented the promised Savior—the “bread from heaven.” Since the Bible sometimes uses leaven as a symbol of sin, the unleavened bread was a symbol of the sinless Messiah."
When the Lord smote the firstborn of Egypt that night, there was a great cry in the land and there was not one household that didn't have at least one dead.
Pharaoh sent them away in the night and the Egyptians were anxious for them to leave.
A great number left Egypt. 600,000 men. So, no doubt well over a million people left. Some estimate that after you add in an estimate of women and children the amount of people leaving was around 2.5 million. Then you have all the livestock and all their belongings. The exodus from Egypt would no doubt have been quite a sight to have seen!

Verite, you are not keen on goat...how about lamb? I personally like a good lamb burger once in a while.

---

Ch. 13, 22 verses
Abib is the first month in the Hebrew calendar.
The Lord promises to bring them into the land that He had promised to their fathers.
The Lord again instructs them on how to observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, as it is a sign and a memorial.
The Lord leads the people. He leads them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
Moses takes the bones of Joseph with them!

---

Ch. 14, 31 verses
The Pharaoh's heart is hardened. Again. He gets himself ready and takes every chariot in Egypt and all the captains and all his army. Oh, the fool.
As the Egyptians draw near, the children of Israel are afraid and they cried out to the Lord.
The children of Israel get whiny. "Why didn't you leave us in Egypt? Why did you bring us out here to die?"
-But, verse 13 and 14 are touching.-
Moses stretched forth his hand over the waters and the Lord caused a strong wind all night. And the water was divided and there was dry land. And the people traveled on the dry land with a wall of water on either side of them. Must have been an exhilarating feeling.
The Lord told Moses to stretch his hands over the water, and the Lord brought the water together and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the sea.
The people saw all of this and feared the Lord.

---

Ch.15, 27 verses
The song of Moses and Israel vs. 1-21

They left the Red Sea and went into the wilderness, after 3 days they found no water. The came to Marah, but the waters were bitter there. The people grumbled. Moses cries out to the Lord, the Lord directs him to a tree, Moses throws the tree into the water, and the waters become drinkable.
The Lord tells the people to listen to Him carefully and to do what is right and to follow His commandments, and in doing so they will be well.
The people came to Elim where they camped by the waters.

---

Ch. 16, 36 verses
They leave Elim and go to Sin on the 15th of the month of Ziv.
The people murmur against Moses and Aaron. Here we go again!
Moses tells them that their murmurs are not against him and Aaron, but against the Lord!
The Lord gave them flesh in the evening and manna in the morning.
I like verse 18. Those that gathered more than they should had, had nothing leftover. Those that gathered little had no lack!
The people are told not to leave any until the morning. Did they listen. Of course not! As a result, it bred worms and stank.
The only day they were allowed to gather more and leave it till morning was the 6th day, for the following day was the Sabbath.
The Lord commanded that a tenth part of an ephah of manna be put in a jar to keep as a memorial. The children of Israel ate manna for 40 years.

---

Ch.17, 16 verses
They travel to Rephidim where there is no water. So, what do they do? They murmur again, of course!
Moses cries out to the Lord. The Lord tells him to smite the rock in Horeb, and water flowed out. Then Moses calls the place Massah and Meribah, meaning testing and quarreling.

The Amalekites fight the children of Israel. The Amalekites descended from Esau. Amalek is a son of Esau's first-born son Eliphaz and of the concubine Timna.

As long as Moses held up his hand, the Israelites prevailed. When he let his hand down, the Amakekites prevailed. So, Aaron and Hur had him set down and they held up his hands.
This shows us that should let others help us. I think it is what the Lord wants, for us to help each other. I am terrible at this. I have a hard time asking for help or letting others help. I try to remember that sometimes the Lord's help comes through others.

Joshua weakened Amalek and the Lord promised to wipe out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

---

Ch. 18, 27 verses
Jethro, Moses FIL, arrives with Moses' wife and offspring.

Jethro and Moses visit. Jethro rejoices after hearing all that the Lord had done.
Jethro watches Moses judging the people. Jethro advises Moses to choose able bodied men to be rulers over thousands, hundreds, 50s, and tens. These men judged the people, but the difficult cases were brought to Moses.
Then Jethro departed back to his own land.

---

Ch.19, 25 verses
In the month of Sivan, they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
Moses went up to the Lord. The Lord said, "If ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine."
Moses came down and told the elders of the people what the Lord had commanded. The people said that they would do all that the Lord had spoken. Moses passes the message on to the Lord. The Lord says he's going to come in a thick cloud so that the people may hear His voice. Moses passes this message to the people. Moses sanctifies the people. Gods warns that the people are not allowed to go up the mountain, nor are they allowed to even touch the border of it. Nor animals either.
The Lord descends on mount Sinai. Smoke ascends and the mountain quakes greatly. The Lord calls Moses up and he goes up. Then He sends him back down to speak to the people.

---

Ch. 20, 26 verses
The 10 Commandments are given.
- Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
- Thou shalt not make any graven images.
- Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain.
- Thou shalt remember the Sabbath day.
- Thou shalt honor thy father and thy mother.
- Thou shalt not murder.
- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
- Thou shalt not steal.
- Thou shalt not bear false witness.
- Thou shalt not covet.

Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.
God instructs Moses concerning sacrifices.

Have a blessed day!

EXODUS CHAPTER 12 NOTES

v3-4 God instructed Moses to tell Israel that every household should have a lamb

v5 The lamb should be without blemish and a male of the first year. It seems God gave an option of using a goat

v6 The lamb should be kept until the 14th day of the same month and all of Isreal should kill their lamb in the evening

v7 The blood of the lamb should be put on two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses of where the lamb will be eaten

v8 The lamb will be eaten with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs

v9 God says not to eat the lamb raw and do not sodden it with water.
“Sodden” meaning is saturated with liquid especially water, soaked through. God said to roast the lamb with fire - the head, legs, and purtenance. “Purtenance” (archaic) meaning is the inner organs, viscera, liver, heart, lungs, of an animal

v10 God said to let nothing of the lamb remain until the morning. Whatever remains until morning shall be burned with fire

v11 God declared this the Lord’s Passover. Should be dressed with shoes on while eating the Lord’s Passover

v14 “And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.” - God mentions to keep this feast forever for their generations

v15 “Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.” - This is likely the reason bread with yeast is harmful to people’s health.
“Leaven” meaning is a substance, typically yeast, that is used in dough to make it rise.

v16
“Convocation” meaning is the action of calling people together for a large formal assembly

v17 “And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.” - God repeats “in your generations.”
“Generations” meaning all the people born and living at about the same time, regarded collectively

v18 “In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.” - not sure what “at even” means. Evening?

v24 “And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to the and to thy sons for ever.” - Moses is telling Israel who should keep the ordinance

v29 God carried out the Tenth plague

v33 “And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.” - Pharaoh and all the people of Egypt wanted the children of Isreal out of Egypt

v35-36 God made it so that the Egyptians favoured the children of Israel where they gave them jewelry and clothes

v37 “…about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.” 🫨

v38 Not clear the meaning “And a mixed multitude went up also with them…”

v40 “Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.” - Have to go back and review, but I think this was mentioned by one of the fathers in Genesis

v42 “…in their generations.”

v43-49 Ordinance of The Passover

EXODUS CHAPTER 13 NOTES

v2 God tells Moses to sanctify the firstborn among the children of Israel for it His; man and beast

v4 “…in the month Abib.” - It is referencing verse 3.
Looked up Abib, not sure how accurate this is - “Abid is the original name of the first month of the Jewish sacred calendar and the seventh month of the secular calendar. It means “Green Ears (of Grain)” and ran from mid-March to mid-April” - don’t have time to research in depth right now the accuracy of this statement

v5 Moses tells the children of Israel that they shall keep the ordinance in the month of Abib to receive the promise that was sworn to the fathers of the children of Israel

v10 The ordinance should be done annually

v12
“Matrix” meaning is something within or from which something else originates, develops, or takes form

v 13 “And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among they children shalt thou redeem.” - ordinance of the firstborn

v19 “And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.” - CP you remembered right😀

v21 “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light, to go by day and night:” - fascinating how God lead the children of Israel through the wilderness out of Egypt

v11-12 The children of Israel complain to Moses as they fear Pharaoh and his army

v13-14 Moses tells the children of Israel to fear not for the Lord will deliver them from the Egyptians and they will never see them again - Power of God😀

v19-20 God’s protection via an angel of God

v21 “And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.” - Power of God😀

v22 What a sight!

v24 “And it came to pass, that in the morning…” -the children were walking across the Red Sea in the night

v25 God removed the wheels of the chariots of the Egyptians

v27 “And Moses stretch forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.” - God kept his promise that the children of Israel will never see them again

EXODUS CHAPTER 15 NOTES

v1 Moses and the children of Israel sung unto the Lord - first mention of singing that I can recall in The Bible thus far

v2 “The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” - Amen!😀

v3 “The Lord is a man of war…”

v8 “And with the blast of thy nostrils…”

v14 “The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.” -when I look up “Palestina,” only results for “Palestine” show

v15 “…all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.”

wonder why he took this direction from Jethro and not God. Was it that Jethro openly admitted that God was above all gods that the direction could be trusted?

v26 “And they judged people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.”
