I can give you some EDM artists to look up - Kygo, Avicii (he passed away), Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta (Hit or miss for me because he features a lot of mainstream artists), and Marshmello. Search EDM on Spotify or Apple Music and you'll have a large selection to sift through to see what you like or don't like. I favor music that doesn't have featured artists or words in them. The beat has to be nice too😀
Thank you for taking the time to answer! I will look into your suggested artists and sources. A nice beat is always smashing!

I'm in, lets go!🙌
Alight, I'll be sure to do 11-20 for my next reading.

Winter will almost be over when we've finished!

GENESIS CHAPTER 15 NOTES

V2 - Abram is worried about not having an heir

V5 - The Lord reminds Abram that his seed shall be plenty

V6 - Abram believed the Lord

V8 - Abram questions the Lord how will he inherit the land he is promised

V13-14 - "And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve shall I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance." - History repeating itself. Abram and Sarai went into Egypt and came out with riches. Both Pharaohs were plagued before both left Egypt.

V15 - "And thou shalt go to they fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age." - I just noticed that there has been no mention of hell yet. Only that God created heaven and earth. When people passed at this time, where did they go? The Lord promised that Abram will go to his fathers in peace, where?

V16 - "But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full." - not clear on the meaning. What was the iniquity of the Amorites. The Amorites is a family of the Canaanites. Canaan was cursed because of his father Ham's action towards Noah.

V18 - Third time the Lord promises Abram Land, this time as a covenant. His seed was given land from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates.

The biblical teaching is that no one has seen God, whether physical or visual

I'm not sure what is meant by " the biblical teaching." What I can say is that I believe in God's Word.
Gen 12:7 - "And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him." It is stated twice in one verse that the Lord appeared unto Abram. This stood out to me and was marked in my notes

What makes reading the Bible more fun is to connect dots, sew OT & NT Scripture together, making notes in the margins as you go.

In my case, this is my first read from Genesis to Revelation. I do not have the knowledge of what is ahead in scripture like you do. I will get there in due time💪
The biblical teaching is the verses I cited: JN 1:18 & 1JN 4:12, which say that no one has ever seen God, but Jesus (the Word = God incarnate) has made him known.

GENESIS CHAPTER 11 NOTES

Gen 11:1 - The whole world spoke one language [probably not English :^]

Gen 11:4 - The children of men wanted to build a city that would reach heaven [because of sinful pride]

Gen 11:5 - "And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower..." - interesting that God came down to see the city [in one sense yes, although in another sense God is omnipresent]

Gen 11:7 - "Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." - "let us", multiple languages were created [reference to the Trinity?; including English?]

Gen 11:9 - The Lord is stated to have confound the language of all the earth

[GN 11:9b. “…The Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.” This verse apparently contradicts the teaching of Paul in 1CR 14:33: “God is not a God of disorder [disunity or KOTH] but of peace.” Sometimes when interpreting the Bible, we are forced to choose between diverse interpretations or conceptions of God. In this case, it would seem that the writer fails to distinguish between God’s intentional will for all to be saved (1TM 2:3-4) and unified (JN 17:20-23) and His permissive will that allows souls to sin (MT 23:37), become divided and engage in King of the Hill (KOTH) struggle.]

Gen 11:10-25 - Shem's lineage. Shem is one of the blessed son's of Noah [whose lineage is the Semite people]

Gen 11:27 - Terah is from Shem's lineage. He is the father of Abram, Nahor and Haran. Haran had a son named Lot

Gen 11:28 - Haran died before their father Terah

Gen 11:29 - Abram's wife was Sarai

Gen 11:30 - Sarai was barren

Gen 11:31 - Terah and his family headed to the land of Canaan from Ur of the Chaldees. Before reaching Canaan they dwelt in Haran

Gen 11:32 - Terah passed in Haran

GENESIS CHAPTER 12 NOTES

Gen 12:1-3 - The Lord tells Abram to leave Haran. The Lord promises Abram blessings and protection.

[GN 12:3b. All people on earth will be blessed through Abraham. About 2,000 B.C., Abraham became a monotheist and moved from Ur to Canaan, where he became the patriarch of the Hebrews, who became the Israelites after the Exodus and eventually the Jews by the time of Jesus, who fulfilled God’s promise made to Abraham by completing His mission as Messiah or the Savior of all humanity who accept Him as Lord. This covenant is restated in GN 17:1-14, 18:18-19 & 22:15-18. Abraham is also claimed as the patriarch of the Arabs through Ishmael (GN 16:12, 17:19-21 & 21:9-21), who are part of the people who would be blessed by accepting God’s Messiah.]

Gen 12:4 - Abram obeys the Lord by leaving Haran [his faith was shown by his works/obedience/cooperation]

Gen 12:6 - In the land of Canaan, Sichem (plain of Moreh) is the land and where the Lord promises Abram in the following verse.

Gen 12:7 - "And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him." - The Lord appears to Abram [John in the NT clarifies that no one has ever seen God the Father, who is Spirit, but Jesus is God Incarnate/the Son]

Gen 12:10 - Abram went to Egypt because of a great famine [this will become a common occurrence]

Gen 12:13 - To save his life, Abram claimed Sarai as his sister in Egypt instead of his wife [uh oh]

Gen 12:15 - Sarai was taken into Pharaoh's house [I was afraid of that]

Gen 12:17 - "And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife." - The Lord keeping His promise to Abram [poor Pharaoh?]

Gen 12:19 - Pharaoh gives Sarai back to Abram and tells them to leave [money back guarantee?]

Nice work! Amen to live, laugh, and love righteously!

I do not see it as a work, not of me anyway, I have in past seen it that way, where pride would leach its way in and be a person better than others as in Luke 18:9-14 tells me about pride

I have not read the Bible to John yet. Will be a moment before I get there😀. I cannot make comment on those verses yet. From what I read thus far in the verse mentioned earlier, the Lord has appeared to Abram.

Gen 11:1 - The whole world spoke one language [probably not English :^]

You're probably right 😀

[GN 11:9b. “…The Lord confused the language of the whole world. I believe context is critical when reading or listening to anything. Most, including myself, have not read the Bible in its entirety. Once someone has read His Word in its entirety with His guidance, the meaning of His Word should reveal itself. I can't comment when people compare verse to verse since I have not read the whole Bible. I have a feeling comparing verse to verse the way that a lot of people do is not how we should go about understanding His Word.

[GN 12:3b. All people on earth will be blessed through Abraham.

Is this what Gen 12:3 says in your Bible? Mine states "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." - Everything else that was mentioned I cannot comment since I have not read those books in their entirety yet.

Gen 12:4 - Abram obeys the Lord by leaving Haran [his faith was shown by his works/obedience/cooperation]

Amen!

I have not read up to John yet. I have to go by what is clear in the Bible at present.

Gen 12:13 - To save his life, Abram claimed Sarai as his sister in Egypt instead of his wife [uh oh]

😂

Gen 12:15 - Sarai was taken into Pharaoh's house [I was afraid of that]

Yeah, this was unsettling

Gen 12:17 - "And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife." - The Lord keeping His promise to Abram [poor Pharaoh?]

What happened in Gen 12:15 explains the Lord's wrath. Regarding Pharaoh, we revisit this situation again. When I post notes for that chapter, I will make comments there.

I don't think where one begins reading GW is crucial, but believing what I think I know now, I recommend beginning with the Gospel of Matthew, then John, then Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians and Hebrews before going to Genesis, then Exodus and then alternate more of Paul's epistles with Psalms, etc., so that as one reads the OT he is able to interpret it in the light of the NT.

However, I am happy to provide commentary pulling from the NT as we read thru the OT when I think it will help us have the proper NT perspective. :geek:

I am asking if your version of the Bible is stating "All people on earth will be blessed through Abraham" for Gen 12:3 - Are those the exact words used for that verse?

GENESIS CHAPTER 13 NOTES

Gen 13:2 - Abram gained riches from Egypt

Gen 13:4 - Abram returns to the area of land where the Lord made a promise to him

Gen 13:6 - Lot also gained riches from Egypt. The land could not contain all that Lot and Abram gained out of Egypt. Nice problem to have😂 Amazing work of the Lord!

Gen 13:7 - Strife between Lot's and Abram's men occurred

Gen 13:9 - Abram is patient, peaceful, and humble

Gen 13:10 - "And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as -thou comest unto Zoar." - Jordan was well watered before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

Gen 13:11 - Lot chose to move to the plain of Jordan

Gen 13:13 - "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly." - wicked and sinners, exceedingly- these words really describe how bad it was

Gen 13:14-15 - The Lord promises Abram land again. He states it is Abram's and his seed's land forever - This makes me think of the war that is going on now and how it may relate

Gen 13:16 - that is a lot of seeds!😂
Yeah, including Lot's seeds.

Note that much of GN including this chapter are descriptive of history about what occurred rather than didactic or teaching moral truths concerning how we should believe and behave.
