That scripture is actually about the assurance of salvation, and actually now that I think it more, the entire Book of Hebrews is about the security and assurance of salvation.

You can only be born again once that is what the author is clearly stating.
Once can think that IF... they just bypass that Hebrews 6 Scripture I quoted, but doing that is to deny that written Scripture.

If one needs to be born again, or born from above, to be saved, and if this involves a work of God in us and to us, even if one desires to separate from God, how would one undo what God has done?

can we keep the arguing down?
I am also looking for biblical quotes. not convictions.
I fall firmly into believing that you can get unsaved, because I did choose not to accept christ. as a concious decision. like, i thought, i dont want it for myself. maybe someday. i believe it to be truth, but i do not accept the truth. I still care about others being and getting saved, but i myself do not want ti.
until I got saved, and truly believe his love now.

Mt 10: 33: But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Gal 5: 4: Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
Heb 6: 4-6: For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
2 Thes 2: 3: Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
1 Tim 4: 1: Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Rom 11: 20-22: Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Mt 12: 31-32: Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Rev 22: 19: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
2 Pet 2: 20-21: For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
1 Jn 5: 16-17: If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

SO WHY WERE HUMANS GIVEN CHOICE IN THE FIRST PLACE IF WE DON'T? WHY DOES THE BIBLE SAY WE HAVE FREE CHOICE IF WE DONT?
Try not to get upset about it or be emotional like your posts suggests being all capitals and bold. Fact is, free will is not taught in the Bible. This does not however mean that we are not to make choices and do not suffer the consequences of our choices. What the Bible actually teaches is that man is a slave to sin until God moves in a person's life to free them. Many people get all outraged when these things are pointed out to them, and they call those who say such things, and God as well, all kinds of names because of it. Many many many verses support what I am telling you, to the point where we are specifically told it is not by man's desire or effort at all but by God's mercy.

1 Corinthians 4:7b; John 3:27; Romans 9:15-16 What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did also receive it, why do you boast as not having received it? John replied, "A man can receive only that which is given him from heaven." "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." So then, it does not depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

We definitely do have free choice and free will. No doubt about it.
Integrated into creation, and so declared FROM BEGINNING TO END.
Anyone may "come". And they did. Rahab did. The Gibeonite Hivites did. The Ninevites did. The widow of Zarephath did.
The Matt 15 Syrophenician woman of Canaan did. The adulterous Samaritan woman at the well did.

God turns down.....NOBODY who sincerely asks Him for His salvation. Nobody.
BUT.....you have to ask!

Gen 2:16
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

Rev 21:6
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Rev 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

BTW @enril

The action of "ASKING" is in fact a FREE WILL DECISION, a decision that is PERMISSIVE.
The Bride MUST giver her PERMISSION (by accepting the cup of betrothal) before entering into the MARRIAGE COVENANT.
Only then can the wedding can take place.

Well; I recommend that folks get themselves rescued from the wrath of God
at least once before they pass on instead of never at all because debating about
saved/unsaved is kind of meaningless when people aren't saved to begin with.
That would be sort of like somebody attempting to take their shoes off without
first putting them on.

Ps 34:8 . .Taste and see that The Lord is good; blessed is the man who
takes refuge in Him.

FAQ: How might one go about taking refuge in Him?

REPLY: Find a quiet place; anywhere will do. Cover you face with your hands
for a sense of connection, and tell God-- under your breath or out loud if you
like --that you have never yet measured up to His standards and you're
pretty sure you never will. Tell Him you would like to take advantage of His
son's death to protect yourself from judgment.

I believe in eternal security myself.

But I've heard (and read) some say that although your salvation can't be "taken" from you, you can willingly forfeit it.

We cannot save ourselves and likewise we cannot "unsave" ourselves either.

Oh and just because we are unable to save ourselves by our own efforts doesn't mean that we don't have free will/free choice.

I put my trust in GOD to keep me based on Ephesians 2:8,9 'For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of GOD, not of works, lest anyone should boast.' This right here tells me that my salvation is from GOD, because it's a gift I can't lose it. It's not by anything I have done so if I can't earn it how can I lose it.

Heb 6:1-8 . .Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ
and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from
acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about baptisms, the
laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And
God permitting, we will do so.

. . For It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have
tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have
tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if
they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they
are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public
disgrace.

. . Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful
to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that
produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In
the end it will be burned.

An outstanding example of the above is Judas. He was given every
advantage a person could possibly be given relative to strengthening one's
faith in Christ and still thought little of him. And what was Judas' one regret?
That he was an apostate? That he was unfaithful to the Son of God? No, his
regret was that he sold out an innocent man.

How someone could live and work side by side with Jesus for three years and
still be so indifferent I just don't know. Folks like Judas are an enigma.

OSAS doctrine began with John Calvin in the 1500's. However, many of these teachings originally with Augustine of Hippo in the 400's.
Augustine was declared a Saint by the RCC because he was RCC.

I ask everyone here: Why would anyone believe ANY doctrine of the RCC?

I ask everyone here: Why would anyone believe ANY doctrine of the RCC?

I was baptized an infant into Catholicism and anon attended enough
catechism to complete First Holy Communion and Confirmation. As a result,
I was 110% confident that the RCC is the one true church; and that its
beliefs and practices are infallible. I also sincerely believed that all non
Catholics are on a road straight to Hell; no exceptions.
