What's in Your Wallet? (Or Purse?)

So women will often lament that much of our clothing is made without pockets -- and even if we do get pockets, they're extremely small and hardly functional (which is purpose, of course, because smaller/no pockets means less fabric, which costs manufacturers less.)

Now I have to wonder...

Are the pockets on men's clothing made to be much more rugged and sturdy?

I've put my keys in my jeans pocket a few times, but knew if I continued to do so, the fabric would quickly wear through (especially with all those sharp edges from the keys.)

I wish I could trust my back pocket to something important, but it would never feel secure enough for me to keep anything of value there.

* Do men ever have problems with the pockets on their clothes wearing out because of using them daily?

* Do men often have to replace pants/jeans because the pockets are no longer functional?

I bought my last pair of jeans over three years ago. I usually replace a pair when the leg hems wear out. I buy good quality, loose fitting, work jeans. I haven't had any problems with my pockets.

Black metal cigarette case. I use this for my wallet, it has: credit card, debit card, ID, voter card, library card, some cash (for tips and small purchases), and an index card with numbers that I might need in case my phone is lost or dies.

While I've never smoked and certainly can't promote smoking, I LOVE the look of those old-time cigarette cases. I wish they would make modern vintage versions but repurpose them to hold other things.

I've seen lipstick holders from those times modeled after those cases and I would love to find one! (Most I've seen had built-in lipsticks, so unfortunately, they couldn't be reused for modern tubes.)

There is a guy on ebay who makes metal cigarette cases with your choice of cover, he makes them to be used as wallets since the metal helps deter perps from scanning for credit card numbers. I chose mine to be black with the cover of The Astounding She Monster, which is an old 50s horror movie. He had, or has, all kinds of choices. I don't know if he still makes them, it's been a long time ago since I purchased it. I use stuff for ages before I replace things lol.

I can have a pair of jeans for a decade and never have a reason to replace them due to any fault within them. And I keep my keys in the same pocket consistently. As well as my phone and wallet. Left front, keys, right front, phone. Wallet back left.
I did, however, experience problems with pockets, sometimes, as a kid. Though it seemed like back then I heard more about that even from adults, but mostly kids. Clothes for kids aren't meant long term since well grow out of them quickly, so likely no need to make them as sturdy.

I definitely prefer a bag/mini-backpack with lots of compartments, and it has to have zipper closures.

I don't trust pockets or closures such as snaps, toggles, or drawstrings -- I've had too many things fall out of them, so I won't even buy a carrier without sturdy zippers.

The only thing I'll keep in my pockets are eye drops and lip balm, since they're no big deal to replace if they do slip out (and even then, I hate losing anything!)

Keys, phone and wallet. Sometimes some headphones depending on where I'm going.
In my wallet is some cash, a debit card, drivers license and misc cards from doctors offices that I never use or look at.
I have a small bottle of hand sanitizer I keep in my car that I sometimes take with me when going into places.
That's about it.

That's an unusual set of self-defense items! I get the pen and keys, but I'm trying to figure out how one would use lip balm in self-defense....

It has been suggested that the electromagnetic radiation from the phone could possibly "scramble" the data encoded on the magnetic strip of a credit/debit/ID/etc. card. (If it has an onboard chip - it is not likely to be affected.)

Yeah, it’s a planned event to check my cholesterol levels one day and to get an ultrasound to see if my liver got bigger or smaller. I could probably just add the events to my Google calendar but I just keep them in my wallet cause my wallet, even though most slots are filled, isn’t that big or bulky and I don’t have it in my back pocket because I used to do that, sit on it and have really bad sciatica nerve pain running up and down my legs and lower back.
