Why is inflation escalating out of control (can we help slow it down, if we all put our mind to it)
I have been a bit frugal with this follow story, and have emailed around

The reduced color font was done that way from my collection of many saved quotes, IT IS THE CHEAPEST HOBBY I CAN THINK OF.

If you copy the idea, I think it take any message to a whole new exciting level.

I noticed it many years ago (b465y.o.a.)

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results. ~ Willie Nelson
(but how do you succeed with positive thoughts today)

Tip #1 “There is no free lunch in life
A closed mind is like a closed book; just a block of wood ~ Chinese proverb
There is a claim by people that any ongoing expense to city maintenance from the city council, then it is only the poor old rate payers that suffer. Hello, hello Landlords do not give “free lunch” permanently to their tenants after the local rates go up, and the city is riddled with “Rent Payers” that can not afford to become ratepayers. Remember that as all the big money dream projects flood advertising leading up to any local government elections.
We can not be sane, in a insane system.
Towards the end of my employment I worked in electronics factory, on a cold windy winter day. The cold wind went straight through the area. As I did a fast walk to work~home about 40 minutes each way and changed into fresh clothing after getting to work, then let the damp clothing dry off in the car-park below on the ground floor. One very cold mid-morning I got cold feet, thinking inside the square, thought of hypothermia from first aid lessons, I put on the extra shirt dried off from the previous day and the extra jumper, wearing two shirts and two jumpers, not long later I had to remove some of the extra clothing to prevent getting hyperthermia.
Always believe something wonderful is about to happen
I have used this same thinking at home to keep warm and avoid turning the heating on. I first tried to send the story to a “Government department” starting with the last year of the last government with the illusion they could put it in a newsletter to save people in retirement on heating expenses.
Happiness is good health and a bad memory ~ Ingrid Bergman (1917 ~ 1982)
The confusion on why this idea has lost the space in any newsletter led me to think
Better to Light a Candle (with knowledge) Than to Curse the Darkness (from Ignorance)
Putting on the heater faster than warmer clothing is Inflationary” And yet the Government is trying hard to slow inflation, how kinky. I heard on UK radio via internet one UK Member of Parliament said “Inflation is a tax on everyone
Give someone a Road Code as a gift, it could save your life (and~or reduce inflation)
Some people might have trouble thinking on this one “Ignoring safety is Inflationary
(with the potential of cost to ambulance, hospital, work sick leave, ACC costs etc)
Do not fix the blame, fix the problem ~ Anon
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution ~ Stanley Arnold
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything ~ George Bernard Shaw
Serenity prayer.
God, grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change...
Courage to change the things I can,
And Wisdom to know the difference.
We cannot change the direction of the wind... but we can adjust our sails

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. ~ Albert Einstein
The trouble with the rat race, if you win you are still the rat
Disclaimer: My mind is so fragmented by random excursions into a wilderness of abstractions and incipient ideas that the practical purposes of the moment are often submerged in my consciousness and I often don't know what I'm doing.

The bottom line, Do hardened drunks keep their methylated spirits in the fridge?

I am lost on your response,
Not nearly as lost as we are, trying to make sense of your rambling, disjointed post..
I think your disclaimer at the end of it says it all...

But I agree... inflation=bad

Saw a great church sign the other day.
It said:

Inflation did not change the price Jesus paid

Is anyone trying to think on this, or just turn it into a big sad joke
lets give a clue there is a lot more things available to buy.
We have gone from a fix it world to a use it once and throw away world.
People used to be able to buy homes when they got married, not anymore. Local government has tried to turn the city into rank number one of the world, now it is turning into a bankrupt dump, nobody wants to fix anything, before you add in the city crime.

We have a Government new from about a year ago, that looks like they are trying put everyone out of work to fix the economy,

At least it's more coherent than the first post...

Whatever you believe about how the nation is being run, there is nothing anybody on this forum can do about it. You can complain, but that only increases your blood pressure.

Do you have any answers, anything the common man can do to either prevent or guard against the things you don't like?

I believe the man is an expert on the subject. Seems like his answer is the best, though a little dated.

Well at least my aim was to look at what is wrong, and not start to insult members of this forum

This is positive proof Christians are gutless

No wonder the world has not ended for the second coming of Jesus

God is having trouble finding people to fill heaven that can work together instead of throwing rocks

What a discombobulated group I can not say anything without someone from this group throwing rocks at me.

I see postings at this group I might not agree with I DO NOT SAY ANYTHING

Calling people gutless, kind of an insult. Forums do better when people state plainly what they want to say. It's not the same as in person. Try to be more direct about what you're asking.

Who is working together in this picture? Christians? Political parties? State plainly what you're trying to drive home.

If we all did this then wouldn't this site be almost nonexistent?

I'm sorry, but the OP is very difficult for me to read and follow. Not only from the extra light font that I had to highlight and darken to read, but also it just plain don't make no sense.
I mean, taken apart as individual thoughts I can make some sense of, but together as a whole just leaves me feeling like

 should I have started my own thread for my above comments?

zhi @Eli1
I honestly can't imagine anyone over 25 not knowing that inflation is real. How in the world anyone could think that it's some cause of the GOP candidate would presume a certain level of lack of knowledge of financial history and the changes that come in pretty much all large economies. I don't know why it is that you want to portray me as being this person that you're posting about, but ok.

A day is coming when men will not put up with sound doctrine. But rather, they will gather around them those who would tell them what their itching ears want to hear.

Of course, I can't speak to @EricAuckland and what's going on in New Zealand, but I know that here in the states we've already brought inflation under control. At least to the degree that it now sits pretty close to the standard that is generally acceptable within our economy. I believe that here in the states we're rapidly getting back to a normal, stable economy again.

But that's just the way that inflation is. So many people on here seem not to understand the phenomenon that is inflation in an economy. It comes and goes, and an economy adjusts and carries on. That's why you don't buy bread for 19¢ a loaf. Once an inflationary period passes, we all just adjust to the new normal. It's been going on since pretty much money systems began. I honestly don't understand why people don't, from all the historical economic evidence that we have, know this. And no, 'inflation' never goes down. That's called deflation and generally means that an economy is in some sort of trouble.

Much like gas at $1.99. That's happened twice in the last 20 years and in both times, our economy was in trouble. People weren't using their cars as we normally do and therefore, we experience a glut of gasoline and prices go through the floor just so the manufacturers can stay in business and sell gas to people who aren't using it. Trust me or not, we really don't want gas to be $1.99 a gallon. That would mean that our economy is in trouble. Just as it has indicated in the times that it has been $1.99. But somehow, many don't seem to understand this fairly basic economic phenomenon. In a free market society, the value of a good is based on the supply AND demand of that product AND the normal cost to produce such product.

And despite what the fakers will try to tell you, it isn't usually based on some administration's agenda or policies. Not to say that never has any bearing, but just that it isn't the normal cause of price increases.

Eggs are hitting near $4/doz. right now. That's not because of something that the administration has caused.

Eggs are so expensive because of a widespread outbreak of H5N1, a highly transmissible and fatal strain of avian influenza, or bird flu. The outbreak started in early 2022 and has grown into the largest bird flu outbreak in U.S. history. The outbreak reduced the egg supply, while demand remained consistent, leading to higher prices.

See how the cause of expensive eggs isn't because the government decided that eggs should be more expensive. It's a simple supply and demand matter. And it's how all large economies operate. Gas gets cheap because there's a glut of it and retailers can't get rid of it. But the producer wants to keep his business open and wants to keep his people employed and so they continue to produce gasoline, but fewer are buying and so the price collapses. That's not the kind of economy that we should want to live under.

A healthy economy allows for some slight inflationary forces on prices, but every once in a while it gets out of whack and processes come into play to bring inflation down. Never stop. Just bring it down.

So, in New Zealand, I don't know what the economy is doing. But here in the states, we're working to bring it under control and have had a fairly good measure of success in doing that.
