And perhaps this is why Christianity has virtually no presence in this world. In my near 60 year life, I can think of maybe, maybe one person who has even tried to share the Gospel of Christ (with me). What am I getting at? Christians, when they [think] they are sharing the Saving Plan of Christ, they ONLY offer their limited perception of the Purpose of Christ. "They" leave out the Work of Christ and the Effect of His Work. Therefore, these said "christians" are offering a false gospel that couldn't possibly save a gnat. Therefore, those who have "heard" this false and incomplete gospel should [not] respond . . . and of course, they don't. How could a person who is held by the captivity of Satan respond to something that is incorrectly delivered? They can't . . . and this is the Good News for nearly every member here . . . it's not too late for you, because you have not rejected the actual Saving Plan of Christ! It's not too late: You CAN be brought to Repentance!
Well Said!

It takes a real person to be a convicted Preacher of the Most High God to be led by God so God can work through them.

But on these forums, many reject the idea that God is [WORKING] through the Preacher while He preaches the Gospel.
Paul was sent so that by his preaching the eyes of the blind would be opened by him via the Spirit of Truth.

Is that something inherent in the hearer? Not according to Scripture! It is something given exclusively by God,
yet we have many here screaming against it and repeatedly slandering those who affirm this Truth: The god of
this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ,
who is the image of God.

If "keep unity" involves submitting to error, then call me a rebel.
Unity involves submitting to the truth of Jesus Christ. Only the elect ultimately believe the correct sound doctrine of Jesus Christ.

You're not the only one calling for unity. I was addressing the general sentiment that calls for unity while setting themselves apart from others and intimating that, unless I submit to their view, I am an "outsider."
If you choose to believe incorrect doctrine, you choose to be an outsider. There is no other way.

That God grants repentance is in the good book. You really ought to read it sometime.

How do you feel okay making the Holy Spirit of God a liar?
Those who are not of the elect ultimately never repent.

God Gives Repentance to the Gentiles:

NKJ Acts 11:11-18
11 "At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.
  • Per 11:13 An angel sends men to Peter
12 "Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.
  • The Spirit sends Peter with the men sent by an angel to Peter
  • God sends the preacher/proclaimer [of the Good News of Jesus Christ 11:17]
13 "And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, 'Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter,
  • See 11:11
14 `who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.'
  • The angel who sent the men to get Peter had told them that Peter would speak to them the words by which they will be saved.
    • This language says they would be saved by the words Peter would speak.
      • Faith from a message heard Rom10:17
15 "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.
  • Peter speaks the words that would save them and God gives them the Holy Spirit
16 "Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, `John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
  • Peter recalls what Jesus had spoken to him (and others) about being baptized by the Holy Spirit
17 "If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?"
  • The Baptism with/by the Holy Spirit
    • Peter describes as a gift given by God
    • Peter says the Baptism by the Holy Spirit took place WHEN (simultaneous) they believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ
      • The Gospel is what Peter was speaking to them when God Baptized them with the Spirit
18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."
  • Those Peter was explaining this to concluded that God had given to the Gentiles repentance to life
    • Repentance to Life:
      • The word translated "repentance" in its most basic sense means a change of mind/thinking.
        • It can include other nuance depending upon context.
        • The only context in these verses is the clear inference that the words Peter was speaking provided a change in thinking - information to believe - the spoken words about Jesus Christ 11:17 - the words that would save them 11:14
      • Men needed to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ = the words that would save them
        • God sent Peter to give them the Gospel of Jesus Christ
        • As Peter was speaking the Gospel of Jesus Christ:
          • They believed in Jesus Christ (just as Peter and others had)
          • God gave them the gift of the Baptism by the Spirit
            • The men Peter explained this to summarized this activity as God giving Repentance to Life.
God gave Repentance here means:
  • God sent a preacher/proclaimer of the Gospel (Rom10:14-15 God sends preachers)
  • The spoken Gospel saves men who believe it (Rom1:16 the power of God for salvation for all who believe it)
  • Repentance as a change of mind seems to logically take place when men hear the Gospel that saves. It changes their thinking.
  • When men hear the Gospel, they change their thinking (repent) and believe the Gospel
  • When men repented and believed the Gospel, God gave them the gift of the Holy Spirit by which they were baptized
The Gift of Repentance was the Gift of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that changed their thinking and they believed and saved them, and the Gift of the Spirit by which they were baptized.

The Gift of Repentance was essentially God giving the Saving Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles so they could repent/change and believe. The writers of the Scripture often spoke in such summarizing terms.

Is was the same with the Baptism of John (the Baptist). Those who accepted his Baptism believed, while those who did not accept this "work," did not believe. I don't know if you have ever studied this Baptism of John, but it is truly incredible. :)

I have commented on it a number of times from the angle of, how did Jesus fulfill all righteousness
in being baptized by John? This seems to get skipped over a lot, but it is my contention that Jesus
fulfilled all righteousness in having John baptize him because John, of the house of Levi, his father
being a Levitical priest, was an instrument in the transference of the priesthood to Jesus, which then
signaled and necessitated a change in the law. It was also part of the Torah law that priests undergo
ritual cleansing before taking up their priestly duties (limited in age between twenty-five and fifty).

Your first sentence makes a bold statement.

Paul was [sent]...
He was [sent] to preach...
But all Paul did was obey God.
By Paul being submissive God (worked) through his preaching.

Here's the flip side.
Had Paul not obeyed and went and preached.
The people saved would not have been saved.
Because they would have not [heard] the Gospel Paul preached.

Much like Nineveh and Jonah.

There's a good chance had Paul not went that God would have sent someone else because God will make sure everyone hears the Gospel preached.

But the key is they got to hear, because someone obeyed and allowed God to do His works.

Now here is a question.

The Thief on the Cross with Jesus said to Him, 42 And he said, “Yeshua, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”

How did the Thief know Jesus had a Heavenly Kingdom?
Chances are this man [HEARD] Jesus preach about it.
Jesus was famous so everyone would know about the Kingdom of Heaven Jesus spoke about.
And at the Cross he is repenting.

It really is all about hearing first.

I normally don't read extensive posts, but I've found myself combing through yours. Given that perhaps this is only to find fault, I've yet to find many with maybe a few exceptions *providing notice that I'll address if I encounter said fault.

God grants (the possibility of) repentance that otherwise the law only foreshadowed in the temple's sacrificial system. In that system, which is a figure of the reality, no one was 'chosen' in being granted repentance. Surely, that fact would be of relevance in reality. Or so I would think.

Hello, @Rufus — I’m wondering about something. So what happens to those who were not chosen? I mean why is it that we evangelize? If they hear the gospel and genuinely accept it, can they be saved?
Sorry for the delay in getting back.

"Why is it that we evangelize?" The short answer is: because evangelism is a God-appointed means to his equally appointed ends. And this should answer your second question: We evangelize because Christ commanded us to do so. Scripture is loaded with such examples to first answser. One that immediately comes to mind is in Act 27:21-32. God had ordained that Paul stand trial before Caesar, yet the ship he was on was in danger of sinking due to a great storm. Because of what God appointed for Paul, Paul assured the crew that not one of them would perish; but at the same time the crew, who became very tempted to abandon ship, were also told by Paul that they had to remain onboard in order to save themselves. Staying aboard the ship was the means to being saved.

There is also a deeper theological reason (and, therefore, a lengthier explanation) behind evangelism, as well that has to do with the New Covenant, which I'll just briefly mention. If we think of this NC dispensation as the ultimate fulfillment of all that God intended from the very beginning of the physical creation prior to the Fall, then we can easily understand how evangelism in this era of the New Creation is how God is spiritually fulfilling a specific Creation Mandate that he gave to Adam in the Garden (Gen 1:28). God, through the Last Adam's disciples, has been, is and will continue to fill heaven with believers until the return of Christ and the general resurrection, at which time the Garden, which will comprise the entire New Earth, will be populated with countless numbers of God's saints.

Re your last question re the non-elect: The answer is that none of the non-elect have the moral/spiritual power to hear because they are spiritually dead. Do the physically dead possess natural power to hear anything? Then neither do the spiritually dead have any spiritual power. The only people who can hear are those "born from above" or who have been "raised up from the dead with Christ" solely for the sake of the Father's Beloved.

Those with ears to hear, hear.

And just to be clear?

Not saying there are those with no ears.

LOL
Jesus shows we all hear.

18 “And others are the ones sown among the thorns. They have heard the word;
19 but the worries of the world, the seduction of wealth, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

^
These people heard the word because Jesus said they did but they allowed other issues to get involved and become useless to God.
Essentially, they Heard but ended up not saved!

No, I am making a case that we all hear.

This removes the predestined issue that only saved people hear.
But Jesus shows us we all hear and we allow ourselves to be saved or we place other things in the way and ultimately reject God.
So we have some responsibility and free will in the matter.
Jesus proves this along with the Wedding example.
