Who and what are the two beast of Revelation chapter 13? And what is the number of the beast 666?
Daniel 7:23 “Thus he said: ‘As for the fourth beast,
there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth,
which shall be different from all the kingdoms,
and it shall devour the whole earth,
and trample it down, and break it to pieces.
24 As for the ten horns,
out of this kingdom
ten kings shall arise,
and another shall arise after them;
he shall be different from the former ones,
and shall put down three kings.
25 He shall speak words against the Most High,
and shall wear out the saints of the Most High,
and shall think to change the times and the law;
and they shall be given into his hand
for a time, two times, and half a time.
Beast out of the sea shall consist of 10 nations around the Mediterranean sea
“And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion:
and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”
Revelation 13:1-2 KJV
John is referencing this
“And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion, …..And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, …. After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard,… the beast had also four heads;
and dominion was given to it.
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.”
Daniel 7:3-7 KJV
when john receives the understanding ofbrhe beast he sees he’s told that five heads of that beast have already fallen , one head was ruling in Johns current day and one more the seventh head was about to take power in johns near future
Johns beast is from the past and in the present and also os in the future because he’s speaking near the end of the vision after it’s been occurring for a long time daniel spoke at the beginning of the events being fulfilled with babylons conqiering of Jerusalem that began a long period of time when foreign kingdoms would rule over Jerusalem foret babylon did then media Persia did then Greece did Greece split into four after Alexander the Great died and his four generals rules the empire until the Greco Roman wars led to the consolidation of the Roman Empire who rules still over Jerusalem in Jesus day . That vision on Daniel os the beginning the what john saw in revelation 13-14
john is near the end daniel was at the first the future part of the seven headed beast of the head that looks like it was killed but yet lives he rises with ten others in the future
just the one image of the beast with seven heads and ten horns is all of these
“And there are seven kingsseven heads )
five are fallen, ( five kings in johns pat )
and one is, ( one currently ruling in John present day )
and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. ( one more to rise up in johns near future )
And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. ( this now is talking about in the future long range not the first appearance of the seven headed beast but in ne of the heads will return )
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. ( future tense ) These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of Lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”
Revelation 17:10-14 KJV
the beast with seven heads covers from bc600 - about 100 ad there’s a second arrival of one of those seven kings in the future who will have ten partners or minions serving his Will just that one beast is all of that stuff. it’s explained really well by jesus angel to John and also by Gabriel to Daniel in his vision
There is no real beast it’s an image of world powers who will rise up in succession fulfilling the things prophecies against Jerusalem fornthier covenant breaking
I love prophecy …. Around here though it seems like an invite to arguments to discuss much of it I have a lot of ehh contrary understandings from the popular things I read here so I basically avoid talking bout it very muchNice to see you dabblin' in apocalyptic prophecy, brother. I may have to join you a little...
Interesting read throughThe tower is pivotal. I find that Paul in Romans 1 and 2 is speaking in general towards man what he has done in his nature. Also find that Paul was being specific and we have an example when mankind knew only God and what he had done and only he existed. That is post flood.
Then mankind refused to see the truth and was given over to a reprobate mind. He gave them over to principalities and powers at the tower. However, he set apart for himself one nation to bring about the destruction of the god of this world both spiritually and physically.
After the devil attempted a one world government and God shut it down by confusing language. The very next chapter we see him introduce Abraham and the start of his plan. Of course we know that Christ is the blessing, he is the one.
God in the old testament restrained the plans for a one world government by confounding language. He no longer did that come the day of Pentecost. The Spirit now indwelt in us the church restrains the plans of Satan for a one world government.
2 Thess 2........ 6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
The general way this is usual explained is that the Spirit is holding back evil. I don't find that the case as the verse is specific. It is a person who is being held back.
That person is being held back by the Spirit using the church. When Christ asked who am I, Peter replied the Christ the son of God.
Christ in Matthew 16;18 says, And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Gates are a defensive weapon. In ancient warfare when you sieged a walled city they would at times sally out and counter attack. The gates would also open for campaign to allow ones troops to go and wreck havoc.
The word gate the ones that won't prevail is pyle in Greek. Here is what Strong's has to say..........."4439 pýlē (a feminine noun) – a large door; an entrance-gate to a city or fortress; a door-gate. 4439 /pýlē ("a door-gate") typically refers to the exit people go out, i.e. focusing on what proceeds out of it. "
The emphasis here is on what comes out of the gate. The spirit using the church is holding back a person keeping him from exiting hell or the pit.
In the absence of the church we read in Revelation what proceeds out of hell or the pit. As it is no longer being restrained shut.

I think we miss the power of Revelation when we try to ascribe this imagery to one specific, future reality.
Can you give an example? It’s true that Preterists ascribe most of Revelation to the destruction of Jerusalem. I am not a Preterist, however, and so I see it as both/and rather than either/or.Maybe we miss it when we do not ascribe it to a specific past reality.

Oh, that’s unfortunate. Perhaps the topic is too combative for some people on here. Well, I’d be happy to learn more about your views privately if its permitted to share them that way.
It happens brother lolThanks brother. Also sorry if before it came across that I was on attack when I mentioned the length of the siege of Jerusalem. I am not completely anti-social have gotten better since coming to the Lord. However, at times I still do come across as being combative or just arguing for the sake of arguing. So my apologies always if I come across as attacking or just being difficult. God is still working on my social skills......LOL
