The law exposes our condition and our need for Jesus and only He can change us from the inside out, through Him we can keep His law John 14:15-18
Wrong. We actually keep His commandments.

@Johann wrote a summary of this understanding:

John 14:15 - "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."
Love one another:

1 John 5:3 - "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome."

Uphold faith and obedience:

By following these commandments of Jesus with love, faith, and obedience, believers demonstrate their devotion to God and fulfill His will in their lives.

The commandments of Jesus encompass various teachings emphasizing love, faith, obedience, and discipleship. Here are some of the commandments of Jesus along with their corresponding Scripture references:
Repentance and following Jesus:

Matthew 4:17 - "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."

Matthew 4:19 - "Come and follow Me."

Love and obedience:
John 14:15 - "If you love me, keep my commandments."

John 13:34 - "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another just as I have loved you; you also are to love one another."

Discipleship and service:
Matthew 28:19-20 - "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations... teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you."

Luke 9:23-24 - "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."

Other teachings:
Matthew 5:11-12 - "Rejoice when you're persecuted in My name."

Matthew 5:16 - "Let your light shine before all people."
These commandments reflect Jesus' teachings on love, repentance, discipleship, service, and obedience to God. By following these commandments, believers demonstrate their commitment to living according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Are you aware that some of your cronies actually conflate the two? Yes, you ought to research that.
That comment was nasty and unbecoming of a believer. Now I know where you stand you have made it clear.

I was trying to make you aware of where some of your contemporaries stand on the issue, but apparently you don't like being informed of such matters. It is completely uncalled for you to get nasty about it. One even says the 613 are written on our hearts. How ridiculous is that? Maybe you don't want to know that either... But at least now you have been informed.

The main reason for not keeping the 7th day Sabbath is because it was never given to Christians in the first place. In fact, those who insist on keeping it are living in the shadows, because Christ is the reality of the Sabbath... from the beginning in Genesis, Sabbath pointed forward to Jesus and the fact that we would rest from any works in order to gain or attain salvation. Saying the Sabbath was given to man at creation cannot be supported with Scripture.
Creation Week, day six
[Gen 1:27, 31 KJV] 27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. ... 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, [it was] very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Adam and Eve were not Jewish

Creation Week, day seven:
[Gen 2:1-3 KJV] 1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Blessed and sanctified, i.e.made Holy

Though God does not need rest:
[Isa 40:28 KJV] 28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, [that] the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? [there is] no searching of his understanding.

Jesus is the creator:
[Col 1:13-17 KJV] 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

The Sabbath was made for man:
[Mar 2:27-28 KJV] 27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

If you put this all together, the Bible says that immediately after creating mankind another day occurred and God created the Sabbath and spent this time with man.

At the end of time:

[Rev 12:17 KJV] 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
[Rev 19:10 KJV] 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See [thou do it] not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Not sure what the point of all that was, since none of it says that the Sabbath command was given to man at creation.

The Sabbath is -> a day off <- It was unknown in Biblical times to have a day of rest, when only the minimum tasks were performed. God instituted something that was unknown. But clearly it was not and is not "iron clad", as Jesus clearly demonstrated.

Lok at the Pharisees' attitude toward "keeping the Sabbath" and Jesus' attitude toward "keeping the Sabbath". Nothing could be clearer!

They are not Mine. I know about the one you speak of and I told him the same thing we cannot follow the 613, impossible the sanctifies are over with, the fact that you place me in the same position is not right. What is surprising coming for you a person that I esteem because you have a good heart is your opposition the commandments that I cannot understand. Jesus was clear on the active status of the commandments. To me his words are like the words of GOD, unchanging.

We can disagree no problem but we need to respect one another.

Peace.

I'm sorry it seems so unfair to you that Sabbath keepers get grouped together. You say we ought to respect each other yet have no problem calling me names. I am not keen on such double standards. Likewise your claim that I am opposed to the commandments. Especially since I have said again and again that the commandment to keep the Sabbath was never given to Christians.

God works miracles for us when we want to do His will. He worked one for me, so I could keep His Sabbath. We have to have room for faith and God really takes care of us.
In the New Testament can a Gentile be under the law?

ChatGPT replied.

In the New Testament, particularly in the writings of the apostle Paul, there is a theological discussion about the relationship between Gentile (non-Jewish) believers and the Mosaic Law. The consensus in the New Testament is that Gentile Christians are not required to observe the entirety of the Mosaic Law.

The Council of Jerusalem, as recorded in Acts 15, addressed the issue of whether Gentile believers needed to be circumcised and follow the law of Moses to be considered part of the Christian community. The conclusion reached at the council was that Gentiles were not required to be circumcised or follow the detailed regulations of the Mosaic Law. Instead, they were urged to abstain from idolatry, sexual immorality, and consuming blood and strangled animals (Acts 15:19-20).

The apostle Paul, in his letters, further emphasizes the idea that justification and salvation come through faith in Jesus Christ rather than through adherence to the law. He argues that Gentile believers are not under the law but are justified by faith (Romans 3:28; Galatians 2:16). Paul stresses that the law was given to the Israelites and served a specific purpose in their history but was not the means of salvation for Gentile believers.

In summary, according to the New Testament, Gentile Christians are not under the Mosaic Law in the same way that the Israelites were. The emphasis is on faith in Jesus Christ rather than strict adherence to the Old Testament law for Gentile believers.

You must be not reading my posts because I have never said not to keep God's commandments, but quite the opposite. The post you are responding to says we should keep God's commandments. It's not something we can do on our own, we have to have Christ in us. John 14:15-18 but we have to cooperate and not rebel against what God wrote in our hearts. I believe God's commandments include the one He told us not to forget.

You're conflating the law at Sinai with the Commandments of Jesus Christ.

You're conflating the law at Sinai with the Commandments of Jesus Christ.
God's law is not in conflict with Himself

What did Jesus teach.....the commandments of God are the Ten Commandments.

Matthew 15: 3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; (only found in the Ten Commandments) and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father [a]or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me. (opposite of the New Covenant- God's law in our hearts)
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’

10 When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: 11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

Why its still a sin to break the Ten Commandments.

Again, only found in the Ten Commandments
Romans 7"7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

Breaking one commandment you break them all - again quoting and contrasting only from the Ten Commandments

James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but you do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.

You can find the rest of what He said in Exodus 20.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

We need the same faith of Jesus. Jesus kept all of the commandments of God, told us not to break or teach others to break the least of them. I am going to stick with His teachings but appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

God's law is not in conflict with Himself

What did Jesus teach.....the commandments of God are the Ten Commandments.
3. The moral law, which lies chiefly in the Decalogue, or Ten
Commandments (Ex 20:3-17), and which our Lord has reduced, even
both tables of the law, to two capital ones, love to God, and love to our
neighbor (Matthew 22:36-40),
as the apostle has reduced the commands
of the second table to one, that is, love, which he calls the fulfilling of the
law (Romans 13:9,10).

3b1. That it is perfect. "The law of the Lord is perfect" (Psalm 19:7), which
is true of the moral law, by which men come to know "what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2),
what it is his will
should be done, and what not be done; it takes in the whole duty of men,
both to God and man; for to fear God, and keep his commandments, is
the whole duty of man; it includes love to God, and love to our neighbor;
and which are comprehensive of every duty to both: it is very large and
capacious; it is the commandment which is exceeding broad; it is so
complete and perfect, that as nothing is to be detracted from it, so
nothing is to be added to it, nor can be added to it, to make it more
perfect:

The papists talk of counsels, exhortations, etc. as additions; but
these belong either to law or gospel.

And the Socinians say, that Christ
came to make the law more perfect; which they infer from some passages
in (Matthew 5:1-48), where Christ observes, that it had been said by some
of the ancients of old, thus and thus; but he said, so and so; which is not
to be understood of any new laws made by him, but as giving the true
sense of the old laws, and vindicating them from the false glosses and
interpretations of the Scribes and Pharisees: and when the apostle John
speaks of a new commandment, he means the old commandment to love
one another, as he himself explains it (1 John 2:7,8), and which he calls
new, because enforced by a new instance and example of Christ's love in
dying for his people, and by new motives and arguments taken from the
same.

3b2. It is spiritual; We know that the law is spiritual, says the apostle
(Romans 7:14), which is to be understood of the moral law; for as for the
ceremonial law, that is called, "The law of a carnal commandment;" and
is said to stand in "carnal ordinances" (Heb 7:16 9:10), which only
reached the flesh, and the sanctifying of that: but the moral law is so
spiritual in its nature and requirements, that so holy and spiritual a man
as the apostle Paul when he compared himself with it, and viewed himself
in the glass of it, thought himself "carnal, and sold under sin".

The law
reaches to the thoughts and intents of the heart, and the affections of the
mind, and forbids and checks all irregular and inordinate motions in it,
and the lusts of it. Thus, for instance, the sixth command not only forbids
actual murder, but all undue heat, passion, anger, wrath, malice,
resentment and revenge, conceived in the mind, and expressed by words.
So the seventh command not only prohibits the outward acts of impurity,
as fornication, adultery, etc. but all unclean thoughts, impure desires, and
unchaste affections, as well as looks and words.

The law directs, not only
to an external worship of God, but to an internal, spiritual one; as to love
the Lord, to fear him, and put trust and confidence in him, suitable to his
nature as a Spirit; it requires of a man to serve it with his own mind and
spirit, with his whole heart, as the apostle did (Romans 7:25), and the
assistance of the Spirit of God is necessary to the observance of it; and
God in covenant has promised his people, that he "will put his Spirit
within them, and cause them to walk in his statutes," and "keep his
judgments, and do them" (Ezekiel 36:27).

3b3. The law is "holy;" so it is said to be (Romans 7:12), and the
commandment holy; it comes from a holy God, from whom nothing
unholy can proceed; for holiness is his nature, and he is holy in all his
works; and the law is a transcript of his holy will; the matter of it, or what
it requires, is holy; even sanctification of heart and life; and it directs to
live holily, soberly, righteously, and godly, in this evil world.

3b4. It is also "just," as well as holy and good (Romans 7:12). There are no
laws so righteous as the laws of God; the judgments of the Lord are true
and righteous altogether (Deuteronomy 4:8; Psalm 19:9). It is impartial
unto all, and requires the same of one as of another, and renders to every
man according to his works; it is just in condemning wicked men for sin,
and in justifying those that have a righteousness answerable to its
demands; for God is just, according to his law, while he is the justifier of
those that believe in Jesus.

"The law of the Lord is perfect" (Psalm 19:7), which
is true of the moral law, by which men come to know "what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2),
what it is his will
should be done, and what not be done; it takes in the whole duty of men,
both to God and man; for to fear God, and keep his commandments, is
the whole duty of man; it includes love to God, and love to our neighbor;
and which are comprehensive of every duty to both: it is very large and
capacious; it is the commandment which is exceeding broad; it is so
complete and perfect, that as nothing is to be detracted from it, so
nothing is to be added to it, nor can be added to it, to make it more

He didn't reduce, He summarized...

Romans 13:9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

The summary does not delete the details. :)

God's Word hangs on love.

Love to God and neighbor is keeping His commandments
1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
