Why is it so important for you to believe that a truly born-again Christian can lose their salvation? Do you find it a coincidence that ALL false religions and cults which promote salvation by works strongly oppose OSAS? I was born and raised in the Roman Catholic church and prior to my conversion, I subscribed to salvation by works and NOSAS, had absolutely no assurance of salvation and was miserable!

It was not until after my conversion that I embraced God's preservation of His saints. If you wish to remain on that roller coaster ride of fear and bondage to IN-security then be my guest but you will NEVER drag me back onto that roller coaster ride that I got off of when I left the Roman Catholic church.

It seems like we have too many people on here who are not genuinely interested in heart-to-heart discussions but are more interested in winning their arguments and accommodating their biased doctrines at all costs. I can't even get certain people on here to answer questions. They are too busy looking for that 'gotcha' moment, always in your face looking to win the "I'm right and your wrong game."

I've had just the opposite experience.

Some of the nastiest, most mean and evil people I've ever met were calvinists who actually believed they could live like the devil and there's no way they could not end up in Heaven because ... they are "elect" View attachment 257742

There have been people that have done terrible crimes against others that were calvinists... such as Dennis Rader the BTK killer

He was a deacon in the Lutheran Church who hold to some tenants of calvinism (Mart Luther and John Calvin were both big influences in the reformed movement where both teach one cannot lose their salvation even if they live in sin)

Yeah, so when someone tell me they are a calvinist or they are followers of reformed theology... I don't associate with them personally after having had numerous very bad experiences with these false brethren
... you're pretty mean yourself

I am elect according to foreknowledge. That is what the Bible says. Foreknowledge is not some strange mysterious concept. All prophecy is based upon it. No one should be struggling over this.

1 Peter 1:2
“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”
... there ya go God foreknew you and chose you.
this is the key to eternal security, if the choice was ours then it is fickle and frail, if it were our will then it is changeable and suspect.

if it depends upon our effort our steadfastness, our true grit kiss your butt goodbye

1 Timothy 4:1
But The Holy Spirit speaks plainly that in the last days they shall depart one by one from the faith and they shall go after deceiving spirits and after the teachings of demons

No debating this Verse means, the SAVED, will DEPART here.

any other explanation, is flat out calling God a LIAR.
The Spirit expressly says, but you seem to have altered His expression from "some" to "one by one" I'm not sure why but it always worries me when folks change God's word.

"Some" would indicate to me groups of people, sects, denominations. We know there are churches and denominations which have departed the faith once delivered. People as belong to them are not born again and never were.

No, all false religions are against christianity

Projection - the mental process by which people attribute to others what is in their own minds. For example, individuals who are in a self-critical state, consciously or unconsciously, may think that other people are critical of them.

Whether lexicon or concordance, "the faith" is not exclusively defined as saving faith in Christ, but refers to the apostolic faith, the New Testament apostolic body of doctrines (as we also see in Jude 1:3) and just because someone was previously in a state of professing adherence to the apostolic faith does not mean they were truly born again. There are people who believe in vain, whose faith was never firmly rooted and established from the start, which explains the departure.

The Lord preserves His saints forever. (Psalm 37:28) Jesus gives His sheep eternal life (not temporary life) and no one is able to snatch Jesus' sheep from His hand. (John 10:27-28) Believers are sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession. (Ephesians 1:13-14) Romans 8:30 - Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. ALL of them. Notice how Paul uses the past tense for a future event to stress its certainty.
You are saying that God has, in the Bible, presented different forms of Faith.
you keep saying, it's Faith, but not about Saving Faith.
how many Faith's are there that truly represent God?
only ONE!
so, why are you trying to say there's MORE so this Verse changes in meaning for your viewpoint?

i did not change anything, that is the Bible Translation.
but i also added the Original Greek. i see you kept your MOUTH shut about that.
probably, because it clearly shows you're stretching the truth in your perception of interpretation.

What exactly are you trusting in for salvation? Jesus Christ alone (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9) or Jesus Christ + works? I am trusting in Jesus Christ as the ALL-sufficient means of my salvation. I have found that ALL false religions and cults which promote salvation by works strongly oppose OSAS which has always been a major red flag for me. They would be the last people I would trust concerning my salvation.
i Trust Jesus because I do as He commanded and I ABIDE or REMAIN in HIM. He ain't leaving me or going anywhere. But i could. I could decide to LEAVE.

Grant it, I would never do that.

but some have or Paul would not write: 4:1 But the Spirit speaks expressly that in latter times some shall apostatize from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons

i looked up how many Faiths, found in the Bible, that relate to the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

all answers,
ONLY ONE.

so, according to a general populous of Scholars and Theologians, the usage of the WORD FAITH in the Bible pertains to ONE FAITH.

so, if we read FAITH, we cannot attach to it...well, but this is type Faith blah blah blah and then this Faith over here is type Faith blah blah blah...

NOPE, according to those who KNOW, FAITH, is ALWAYS the SAME FAITH, connected with the God of the Bible. that means, It's the SAVING FAITH, 1 Timothy 4:1 speaks about.

4:1 But the Spirit speaks expressly that in latter times some shall apostatize from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons

were they followers of Christ or were they heeding seducing spirits and being taught of demons? Mormons claim to be followers of Christ.

I trust the translators of the bible more than you.

so,
1 Timothy 4:1 speaks about....the SAVING FAITH of CHRIST - Followers of the SAVING FAITH are LEAVING.

I was raised baptist also

I used to say I knew all the lies also. Then God humbled me, and I learned some of the lies I believed myself.

we must never think we know it all.. we are in danger if we do this.
