She's working on a doctoral degree at the University. I shared a little about my opossum rehab. She said she prefers dogs and cats. She asked me what I prefer and I said............ children. 😄
The first time I read that line, instead of children I read chicken. I'd of probably said I prefer angus beef...

Some people are marrying animals…this is crazy!
We have dominion over animals. Do they have souls? So they get to go to heaven. ? I like animas but unless God says they go to heaven then I wouldn’t put them first. I’m not sure if they do.
I wouldn't put an animal first over a human even if God said that animals go to heaven - all humans are still first over any animal.

This is my problem with many of the posts I'm reading in this thread. There is this creeping worldly tendency to elevate animals to the level of, and sometimes above, humans. Sorry, that is unacceptable if you're a Christian.

If you turn someone down who'd make a good mate just because they don't like your cat, you deserve to be alone.

(As for animals having souls, etc., I don't think anyone knows. But, it doesn't matter in the context of this thread. They are still SUB-human. That being said, I hope they do have souls and will live eternally with us. I miss some of our family dogs, my gerbil Suzy, my water dragon Jimmy. But, they ought not EVER to be placed above humans or even made equal to people.)

A Persian Princess sat down next to me and asked about my day, normal chat. etc.

I think we all like pets, but some forget that children are a priority. They aren't mutually exclusive, contrary to some opinions. My pastor told me that some are.
Personally, I'm not a cat fan, but can appreciate them when someone else is raising them. I'm allergic to them. Besides, my ex gf had 2 and when they'd get upset with her, she said they'd spray her bed pillow. Yuk.
A Persian princess? Hmmm....

It's not really choosing an animal over a human, it's about finding a human with whom you are compatible.
And if you do, does that animal still come first? Some here seem to be saying it will. So, it is about just that.

So you'd choose an animal over a human.
I'd choose my pets over a guy that doesn't like them. When I adopt a pet, I make a commitment to keep them safe until they die. People have their preferences and if a guy doesn't like dogs or cats (or is allergic) then that's completely fine with me. I just wouldn't date them. Just like I wouldn't date someone who lives on the other side of the world. Nothing against the person, but I wouldn't want a long distance relationship.

Here's another example. I cannot stand snakes. Like at all! I despise them. I wouldn't date a guy that has snakes. But he shouldn't have to give them up for me. He should just find someone who is compatible with him.

Dating is one thing. Planning a wedding is another. If you're that committed to someone, and then decide against them because they do not want your animals, you deserve to be alone.

Why do you believe it shouldn't be the other way around? Why do you believe this person should not accept our pet/pets and get rid of their false stereotypes/false world views?

It is better to end some relationships sooner than later, and a person should make it known he doesn't want/like pets sooner than later. Pet people are great people so its their loss. If a person discloses later, that's called manipulation.

I must not be communicating effectively. And if I do? Do you mean if I find myself compatible with a woman who has cats? And if I do would not happen. There wouldn't have been more than one date and that relationship as far as courting is concerned would be over. The animals in that picture aren't relevant. Compatibility to live out your entire lifetime with someone is. I can't speak to what others are saying, but I think you're not understanding what some are saying. Given that text only communications leaves a lot to be desired, that's understandable.

Oh no! Whatever shall I do!:eek::eek:
Men like you like to make fun of us cat (or any pet really) ladies "dying alone." When in reality it's a cope because you don't want to accept that we prefer felines over your negative company.

I suggest that an attitude like this will increase the probability greatly that you will be alone with your cat/pet until you die.

You need to understand that - to a man - knowing that you prefer felines over a man - to him - makes you negative company.

A man would rather you prefer him over animals.

I don't think people should get married if the mindset is " they will be perfect if they change this or that". We grew up together with each of us making consessions because it was the right thing to do. I am sure he did not grow up thinking ( Oh boy I can't wait to be able to clean horse stahls etc. ) He never asked me to get rid of them or the lazy dog who wanted belly rubs or the cat who thought she was all that and more or the bird that whistled the theme song to Andy Griffith until you wanted to cry. Life/marriage is what we make it as a couple. With or without animals. He loved me in spite of myself for his forever; in the same manner I loved him.

Why do you assume that - if a person does not particularly care for having pets (or similar) - that there is something "wrong" with them and that they have a "false" world view...???

Different people have different personal preferences. It does not mean there is something "wrong" with them if they see things differently than you with regard to having pets.

Where human mates are concerned - just find someone who shares the same 'pet' view as you.
