He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:10-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:3‬ ‭

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It is the spirit that quickeneth;
the flesh profiteth nothing:
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:51‬ ‭

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭13:31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

….But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:22-23, 25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12:36‬ ‭

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

For ye were ( past tense ) sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:1-11, 14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

believing the gospel of Jesus Christ our lord and accepting him is what makes us the children of God who his teachings are meant for like this , this is for those children of God born by the gospel

“And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭23:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

….For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:9, 14-15‬ ‭

when we come to jesus when we hear the gospel and begin to hear what he’s saying he’s teaching us who’ve accepted him believed on his name as lord , how to be and live as the children of God promised life everlasting and we don’t need to add to or take away from anything he said

if we go all in with Jesus based upon the gospel he preached and said was forever true and can save or damn ll people of the world based upon tbier reception or rejection of it we will be saved consider the lords “ formula and doctrine for salvation it’s been the same for nearly 2000 years and will never change

There are several words for “children” when referencing the “children of God”.

nepios - this in an infant, a newborn. A nepios is not expected to add anything to the supply of the house. For the believer, this is their state when they first proclaim Jesus as their Lord and their spirits are made alive.

paidion - also a little child. This is a relationship. Here they learn simple things. In the house of God, simple things are things like the elementary doctrines: faith toward God, eternal judgement, etc.

teknon - this is a child who can put into daily practice the things he has been taught. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…” This is teknon. If we receive the Lord (nepios and paidion) we are given the right to do His work. By doing the work further wisdom and understanding is imparted.

huios - this is a mature son, able to represent his father in his father’s work. “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God” This is huios. When God said from heaven about Jesus “This is my beloved son” He used the word huios.

Sonship is a progression of maturity. If we submit to the instruction of the Lord through the Spirit, although we begin as infants we will grow into mature sons.

I don’t add anything that’s not already there ….simply sharing some scriptures about being born again as Gods children because people sometimes talk about it

It’s meant to open a discussion about what’s actually in the Bible

It seems more like Jesus and the fisoel and the rest of the new testement makes baptism important many simply don’t want to hear that so they say “ your adding baptism “

But it’s just already there I’m just acknolwedging what’s already there and sharing it …… if you don’t think baotism is important I do t have any issue with it , but the Bible makes it really plain and clear is my only point …..

brother when you have an infant boy you already have a son . You already claim him as your son he’s already an hier you the father already know he’s going to grow up later into a man but he’s already your son he will simply grow and mature but he’s always been your son before he could ever understand an instruction or even knew how to say “ daddy “

He is your son before he ever does a thing from the very moment he’s born he is your son

Even if he makes mistakes later he’s still your son who needs to repent and return home when he gets lost on his way

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. ( thou art my beloved son on whom I am well pleased)

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:26-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

a family has all ages of children the difference is the little ones who don’t know aren’t expected to fulfill those who grow up and learn begin to have accountability as we grow and mature and also much reward

Does he really? It was not in the OP. Neither was there a clear presentation of the New Birth which I suggested should be posted. If not I would have to explain John 1:12,13.

I believe water baptism is important. I do not believe being born again “above” has anything to do with water baptism. Nice post.

Yes of course.

Maturity is not a given: note the writer of Hebrews warning about remaining infants:

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.”
”For everyone who lives on milk is still an infant, inexperienced in the message of righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish good from evil.”

And Paul’s warning to the Corinthians:

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?

”Mere men“ is the key. The world is carnal. All men are carnal in the world. Believers are to be spiritually minded. When a man is transferred from darkness into light milk is needed. No matter his age he is only an infant in Christ. By applying what he is given: faith, wisdom, understanding, etc. he becomes mature. Time matures the flesh but not the spirit. Obedience to God matures the spirit. This was true even for Jesus:

“..though He was a Son (this is huios) , yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.”

And it’s not just about mistakes. Young children are not given much responsibility. Also, if a son refuses to be instructed he remains a son but his responsibilities might pass to another.

"If I told you earthly things [that is, things that happen right here on earth] and you do not believe, how will you believe and trust Me if I tell you heavenly things? " Spiritual, supernatural.. things of the spirit. So what is this "birth"? We make it clear we understand the natural things Christ said but.. miss everything else. That birth to me a new spirit new man which after God was created in righteousness and true holiness. That which is born of God does not sin. He can not go on sinning because he was "born" of God. That birth is not a simple choice. Oh to hear I long to hear all the angels rejoice when just one comes to Christ.

I was watching a man of God where millions after millions gave their life to Christ. WOW lol what do we do? Or me

Also, if a son refuses to be instructed he remains a son but his responsibilities might pass to another.
amen to all that brother also there’s this

“And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, And scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:5-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he doesn’t discipline his children because they are perfect but he’s correcting them when they aren’t doing right . What I mean is non of us are yet perfect we’re just all in a process of maturing and we’re all at different stages of our growth

i can look back at least at my own life and see what I knew and how I lived at thirty being a believer , then what I knew and how I lived at fifty , now what I inor and believe at seventy

i was always convinced but it has progressed and grown over time is my point we’re all in a lifetime process one day at a time following the lord as his children knowing the truths he’s spoken to us regarding everlasting life

awe can rest assured he’s going to finish the work he began in us and we can also accept that we’re meant to give our lives for Jesus and live as a light in tbe world following after his ways as we learn and grow and apply and begin to mature

over a decade one can look back and really note the cha ges in thier own self and even see gods hand at work in our lives to bring about that change all this being because first he’s called us his children by faith those who believe the gospel

Thing is man...you add water baptism to complete salvation. That isn't being born again.
If you are refering to this passage posted in the OP:

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The "born of water" refers to our physical birth, that being when a womans water breaks at our birth. Nothing to do with water baptism. I agree water baptism has nothing to do with salvation. It is the first act of obedience a new believer should do because Jesus said to. It serves as a witness to both the Church and the world that a person has become a disciple of Jesus.

Spiritual baptism/conversion can not be seen by the eye, so this is why water baptism is important. Truth told, one should already be "born again," baptized by the Holy Spirit prior to water baptism..............

I agree…
Baptism does not make one born of the flesh but the birth from the amniotic fluid (water) of the womb does.

Okay. No worries. I know from previous posts of yours you do have water baptism as part of salvation. Water baptism is important, but it isn't linked to salvation except as a picture of it.

Does he really? It was not in the OP. Neither was there a clear presentation of the New Birth which I suggested should be posted. If not I would have to explain John 1:12,13.
brother why do you feel you would need to explain anything ? My point is really simple what does the Bible actually say about being born again ? How many scriptures even talk of it and what is it that they say ?

Like for instance does this have anything to do with bieng born again as the children of God ?

“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Or this does this have anything to do with being born again ? And why would it need to be re explained ? It’s an apostle explaining something to the chrich meant to be heard and accepted

“And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. ( this isnt something I need to re explain Peter is explaining something to believers )

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:17-23, 25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You see Peter is saying something plain and clear it’s for people who have heard and believe the gospel and have been born again in Christ …..

theres no reason for us to hear the word and then re explain what’s plain the New Testament is that explaination our place is to hear and believe what’s being taught by Jesus and his apostles they were explaining the mysteries not creating them

Let’s talk about what the Bible teaches about being born again brother

That where the language comes from the full doctrine is already there in scripture

Regarding baptism lol I don’t have an issue with baptism I just believe what’s there in scripture

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Here’s my whole point quoting that part about one baptism jesus said this

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Now very clearly this is a perfect example of belief and baptism

“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:35-38‬ ‭

To try to remove water from baptism knowing there’s one baptism we would have to insist Philip eas oracticing this false “ water “ baptism or Peter in chapter ten with the gentiles also practicing this irrelevant “ water “ baptism

Truthfully the Bible only ever established one baptism for mankind to perform and partake of which is baptism for remission of sins that’s done in water like Philip just did above there like Jesus did like all his apostles ect baptism is there because God established it it’s 100 percent part of the doctrine regarding being born again and saved

Another note: chastening is not necessarily punishment for doing wrong. Often, it is punishment for growth.

In English we use the word "punish" in such a way. We might say "Man! The coach put us through a punishing regimen today!" or "That obstacle course was really punishing!" Nothing about correcting wrong here, only difficulty to help us grow and strengthen.

This is the linchpin for understanding "[Jesus] learned obedience by the things He suffered." Jesus never sinned or needed corrected for wrong, yet, as The Son of God, His Father brought difficulties into His life to teach Him obedience. This should comfort us in two ways: 1st, framing suffering accurately: we know that suffering does not come only because we did something wrong; and 2ndly, Jesus, who likewise suffered in such a way, knows how to assure and support us in our times of suffering.

I think being born is where new life starts ,

and not where it ends of that makes sense was just meaning to begin a conversation about what the Bible says on many many places about the whole born again as children of God concept we sometimes discuss I think this is helpful

“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:1, 9-11, 14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we see a sample of what he was preaching in the gospel creating of believers who hear him children of God

“And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭23:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:12, 14‬ ‭

“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭

“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:35-37‬ ‭

The reason we need to hear the gospel and accept it ( believe ) is because the son is teaching all Believers to be his disciples the children of God without we hear and believe the gospel well
Never have faith of the son of God and know the father through the son and actually begin to know the true God and our Heavenly Father

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

to be a child of God it seems we need to believe in the son and the gospel is how we can know the son
