Yep. God would tell us to use our best judgement. I don't measure feet either, but during distancing, I tried staying a few paces from people. If it wasn't possible, I didn't fret. He doesn't measure stuff in feet, but in how well we treat others and respect his creation. I hope you have a wonderful week also.
Hi SanderB, hope you had a great weekend.
I want to mention a few things we should all keep in mind.
You said, "
He (God) doesn't measure stuff in feet, but in how well we treat others and respect his creation."
1. I agree these are important.
2. However, this requires we first have definitions for these terms - and people have different definitions.
3. In order to "treat others well", we first need definitions for that, and in order to "respect creation" we need definitions for that.
4. If we are to "treat others well", we should be concerned with others' safety... but how do we define this safety?
This definition REQUIRES that we first KNOW which things are, and are not, genuinely unsafe. However, we live in a world so driven by politics and propaganda, that these necessary facts have become very unclear.
- Please keep in mind, many tyrannical governments, in the past, have used "public safety" as the reason for MOST of their tyranny. They have literally used those exact words, "public health" and "public safety", as the excuse for atrocities. If we read some history, we find this all over, including with the Nazis.
- So the mere USE of terms like "public health" and "public safety", simply cannot be taken at face value... not if we are to learn from history.
- We need to look at data, and facts, and evidence... and give some real thought to how these terms are being used, and defined.
5. If we are to "have respect for creation", this requires that we can define this respect, and have facts and evidence to know when it is, and is not, occurring... but the facts and evidence are very controversial, and disputed.
- We live in a world so driven by politics and propaganda, that all the facts surrounding these issues are very unclear.
- We even have facts, evidence, and opinions that are censored... so that we can't even hear them.
Conclusion:
- I agree, as do most, that we should treat others well, and respect creation -
but this REQUIRES that we first have definitions for the terms, and it REQUIRES we also have facts and evidence to determine when we genuinely cross the lines.
- We all have very different definitions for these terms, and we have a great dispute (even censorship) around the facts and evidence.
- Simply stating a truism, like "we should all treat each other with respect", does not resolve the problems.
I believe you have nothing but good intentions.
But even with good intentions, we are still left with a lot of serious issues to sort out.
God Bless.
