Psalms 119:126 It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.

The date of Easter and its controversies

Easter, Latin Pascha, Greek Pascha, principal festival of the Christian church, which celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his Crucifixion. The earliest recorded observance of an Easter celebration comes from the 2nd century, though the commemoration of Jesus’ Resurrection probably occurred earlier.

The English word Easter, which parallels the German word Ostern, is of uncertain origin. One view, expounded by the Venerable Bede in the 8th century, was that it derived from Eostre, or Eostrae, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and fertility. This view presumes—as does the view associating the origin of Christmas on December 25 with pagan celebrations of the winter solstice—that Christians appropriated pagan names and holidays for their highest festivals. Given the determination with which Christians combated all forms of paganism (the belief in multiple deities), this appears a rather dubious presumption. There is now widespread consensus that the word derives from the Christian designation of Easter week as in albis, a Latin phrase that was understood as the plural of alba (“dawn”) and became eostarum in Old High German, the precursor of the modern German and English term. The Latin and Greek Pascha (“Passover”) provides the root for Pâques, the French word for Easter.

Fixing the date on which the Resurrection of Jesus was to be observed and celebrated triggered a major controversy in early Christianity in which an Eastern and a Western position can be distinguished. The dispute, known as the Paschal controversies, was not definitively resolved until the 8th century. In Asia Minor, Christians observed the day of the Crucifixion on the same day that Jews celebrated the Passover offering—that is, on the 14th day of the first full moon of spring, 14 Nisan (see Jewish calendar). The Resurrection, then, was observed two days later, on 16 Nisan, regardless of the day of the week. In the West the Resurrection of Jesus was celebrated on the first day of the week, Sunday, when Jesus had risen from the dead. Consequently, Easter was always celebrated on the first Sunday after the 14th day of the month of Nisan. Increasingly, the churches opted for the Sunday celebration, and the Quartodecimans (“14th day” proponents) remained a minority. The Council of Nicaea in 325 decreed that Easter should be observed on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox (March 21). Easter, therefore, can fall on any Sunday between March 22 and April 25.

Eastern Orthodox churches use a slightly different calculation based on the Julian rather than the Gregorian calendar (which is 13 days ahead of the former), with the result that the Orthodox Easter celebration usually occurs later than that celebrated by Protestants and Roman Catholics. Moreover, the Orthodox tradition prohibits Easter from being celebrated before or at the same time as Passover.

In the 20th century several attempts were made to arrive at a fixed date for Easter, with the Sunday following the second Saturday in April specifically proposed. While this proposal and others had many supporters, none came to fruition. Renewed interest in a fixed date arose in the early 21st century, resulting from discussions involving the leaders of Eastern Orthodox, Syriac Orthodox, Coptic, Anglican, and Roman Catholic churches, but formal agreement on such a date remained elusive.

The Torah is not just laws for Jews. It is also instructions on how to function/live in the Kingdom of God for all of His People. It is also our teacher. When we turn away from our Babylonian mystery religions and follow the ten commandments, then we are on a lit path, showing us the way and gives us understanding and wisdom. This "way" will then make the New Testament make sense. If one lives by discarding or diminishing the LORD's Words, then blindness/stubbornness/rebellion occurs. If one adds to Torah, such as placing the New Testament above the LORD's teachings in the Torah and the Prophets and the Writings, then we err. One book with a beginning and an ending. Line upon line, precept upon precept. You have to dig for the treasure it holds. When you find that one pearl of great price, you are willing to sell all that you have and hang on to that pearl. I know that clinging to God's Holy Words is not popular. I get it. So hard to let go of man-made traditions that make void the word of God.

I see grace and truth throughout the entire Bible and the Torah is not a burden or grievous.
Your false doctrine just keeps coming doesn't it. I find what you said in the "About" part of your profile pretty interesting:

". . . and choosing to love and obey the commandments, the instructions, the laws, the regulations, whatever that is within my power, that I do to please the LORD and Christ."
Not only do you advocate keeping the laws and regulations, but apparently you rely on your own power to do so.

Before you ask or make any accusations, the answer is no I do not celebrate Christmas, or make use of any Christmas "decorations". I do not celebrate Easter or make use any Easter "decorations". I do not believe in Good Friday, either.

I do believe whole heartedly that Jesus/Yeshua was born September 11, 3 BC. at Feast of Trumpets (1st day of the 7th month on Hebrew calendar using the moon to track God's months).

I have 100% conviction that Jesus/Yeshua was crucified on Wednesday April 25, 31 AD. (14th day of 1st month on Hebrew calendar using the moon to track God's months) I have a Stellarium photo of the moon on that date having a partial solar eclipse, darkening Jerusalem while Christ was hanging on the tree. I also have Stellarium photo of Feast of Trumpets showing the renewed moon (first visible sliver of the new moon) at the feet of the constellation of Virgo and clothed in the sun and again in Stellarium you can see from Jerusalem Israel on September 11, 3 BC.

Rev 12:1 And there appeared a great sign in the heavens, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head,
Rev 12:2 and having a babe in womb, she cries, being in travail, having been distressed to bear.
Answer this question: Based on the four things new believers were to start with in Acts 15, does God (YHWH/Yeshua) hate pagan practices?

So why do many Christians keep man-made traditions that make void the Word of God?

Matthew 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition (Strongs G3862)?
G3862 π+α+ρ+ά+δ+ο+σ+ι+ς 80+ 1+100+1+4+70+200+10+200 = 666

paradosis From G3860; transmission, that is, (concretely) a precept; specifically the Jewish traditionary law: - ordinance, tradition.
Do you believe Christianity is superior to the Jews traditions that make void the Word of God?

Remember, we are warned not to add or diminish from the Word. However, many believers hide behind the lie "the old covenant is done away with". and we are under grace and free to not keep or observe any laws mentioned in the Old Testament.

Abstain from pollution of IDOLS!!

Abstain from fornication!! On the surface, one can say stay away from sexual intercourse with the exception of sexual intercourse between a husband and his wife. All else is fornication. However, what is spiritual fornication?

Spiritual fornication, is idolatry, and can take many forms. We must be careful not to look down at the ignorant and ancient pagans and faulty Israelites who worshiped at the foot of wooden idols and think that we are superior to them in intellect and knowledge. Idolatry is that which places something above the sovereignty, majesty, adoration, and dependence of the true and living God. We can fall into varying forms of spiritual fornication, spiritual idolatry, even as Christians.

Act 2:13 Others mocking (G5512) said, These men are full of new wine.
Act 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

G5512
χλευάζω
chleuazō
khlyoo-ad’-zo
From a derivative probably of G5491; to throw out the lip, that is, jeer at: - mock.

Luke_11:54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

Godlessness in the Last Days
2 Tmothyi 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Sorry, not mocking. Just posting what you believe.
Luke 11:54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Keep quoting scriptures all you want; doesn't change the fact you think you can earn points with God by keeping the law. You're very deceived and you seem to see it as your mission to troll here and deceive as many others as you can.

Aren't all the days of the week named after pagan gods? Does that mean, by your reasoning that we are worshiping other gods by acknowledging that fact?
Do the Jews worship the Norse goddess Freya and the Roman god Saturn when they observe sabbath on those days? Do Christians worship the sun when they meet on Sunday?

Such sophomoric thinking is unbecoming.

No answer to my post.
I answered you in post #95.

wolfwint said: Then we should also follow what is written in the book leviticus. And what means to you what is written in Acts 15, 5 - 31. regarding follow the torah?
And 3rd. Do you belong to any of the 12 tribes of Israel?

1). Leviticus 11 is what is food and what is not food.
Leviticus 23 are the Feasts of the LORD, the weekly Sabbath and the Spring Feasts and the Fall Feasts and these are called “Rehearsals”
Leviticus 25 is about Sabbitical and Jubilee years.

2) Acts 15 and the discussion of circumcision of the flesh. The LORD wants circumcision of the heart. The commandment to circumcise your 8 day old son did not apply to the Gentiles coming out of paganism to accept Christ and 15:21 clearly implies they will learn the Torah week by week if they attend the sabbath synagogue.

3) Do I belong to any of the 12 tribes of Israel? Several parts to answer. One what is my genealogy? Yes I am of both the House of Judah and am also of the House of Israel. However, before the genealogy research, I was adopted and grafted into the good olive tree. I know the end-time Temple has 12 gates named after each tribe and each made of a solid pearl. I will only be entering and exiting in one of these gates. This is an unknown to me at this time. But one thing I do know is Jesus and the Father will be there and the KINGDOM IS REUNITED.

And yet Paul asks the Galatians, who had turned from faith back to following the law, who had bewitched them.

You cannot accept salvation by faith and then imagine you can add your works to the work of Christ on the cross who stated that
work was FINISHED.

Speaking of the law, you are mixing different fabrics together and God states that is not acceptable. We'll just pretend that part of the law is not applicable though I guess

How does a believer in Christ abstain from pollution of idols? What say the scriptures?
Do you not know that the scripture states we are a new creation in Christ? Why are you nailing Jesus to the cross again?

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
II Corinthians 5

We are reconciled to God through the Lord Jesus Christ and no other. The law condemns. It has never saved one single person including Moses.

The law keeping & Jesus are not salvation.

Pagan Christianity?: Exploring the Roots of Our Church Practices
by Frank Viola and George Barna

However, this book does not speak to the Sabbath or to Sunday. But none the less, very eye opening if you want to understand your roots in the practices that have been handed down to our generation.

It is no wonder, Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Critique on Frank Viola, a prolific author

Frank Viola's "Pagan Christianity"
This book's appeal, sadly, is that it panders incessantly to the need many people feel to blame someone else for their own deficits. Let's sum this up with a few questions, then proceed to a chapter by chapter critique.
Is Viola right, that many modern church practices are rooted in paganism? If by "paganism," you mean, "pagan religious practices," the answer is no. If by "pagan" you mean, "it's something pagans happened to do also" then that's closer to the mark.
Under that rubric, Viola may or may not be right on some things having an origin in paganism; it's not really worth while to check, for reasons detailed below. I am also far from disagreeing with some aspects of the book, such as on tithing not being biblical [172f], and the impracticality of many sermons delivered today [99]. (But the answer to the latter is to make the sermons more useful, not do away with sermons altogether; more on this in a moment.)
That said, I do know Viola is just plain wrong on several issues within my purview, and his skills at contextualization are dismal. In dissing the practice of a sermon, for example, Viola objects to the use of rhetoric, or persuasive speaking (he calls it a "polluted stream") -- utterly oblivious to the fact that Greco-Roman rhetorical techniques were a staple of Paul's letters (see Witherington's Paul Quest). Paul did object to how rhetoric was being used to hide the truth or to distract from it (that is at the heart of the first part of 1 Corinthians) but he did not hesitate to use stylized, structured, persuasive forms of speech and writing himself.
Viola also is oblivious to the process of ancient letter collection; his analogy for explaining how Paul's letters were arranged, in a way that supposedly distorts their message [223f], misses the point that Paul himself, or perhaps Luke or Timothy (not just "someone" [226]), would have been the ones who would have arranged the collection in the order we now find it.
His understanding of the Trinity is deficient and fails to differentiate between functional and ontological subordination. Viola's serious lack in these areas does not give me a lot of confidence in his skills as a researcher.

But how much do you love your Savior who died for you?

Salvation is not about performance. Don't you have that new heart Christians are supposed to get? That is what will keep you from disappointing Jesus.

Ok, about your answer no 2.
Acts 15 Is not only an discussion about circumcision. In Acts 15 is clear said, that Christians (gentiles background) have not to hold the law as a jew has to. Except the points are listet in Acts 15.
But you mentioned only the circumcision thing.
So you also gave no answer you agree with what I wrote or not.
