I'm seeing all these posts about the Jesus Revolution, the movie. This is a nice start, but are you getting the people out to help others in need? Faith without works is death. It's not enough to just believe, you have to help others to prove you have faith.

I agree. Christian entertainment has become big business and has replaced the gospel in many cases. In a lot of churches, entertainment has become the big draw. If there's not a great band who can play all the latest and greatest hits, a church might as well kiss itself goodbye.

For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’
45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” Matthew 25:42-46

The Jesus Revolution movie is a story about mainly charismatic christianity. It's showing the roots of the Vineyard movement among other charismatic movements. I started watching it and wasn't sure about it.. but will finish it on Friday night.

In regards to 'faith without works is dead'

This is assuming the people have faith. So it isn't that they 'never had faith to begin with' or 'lost eternal life' if they didn't do the works they did. It's about what happens AFTER being saved.. and what people do with their faith in response to the free gift of eternal life given.

It isn't an absolute certainty that a saved person WILL be faithful.. WILL do good works.

Abraham-- was not justified in terms of salvation when he offered up his son Isaac. Rahab, when she hid the people.. had faith to begin with.

David believed in a Redeemer.. so did Job.. so did others. Abraham was made righteous.. justified not by works a while before offering up his son Isaac.

So 'dead' in 'faith without works is dead'.. means 'unused', 'dormant' ... not 'never had faith' or 'lost salvation'

If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 1 John 3:17
Where shall I send the donation to you?

That movie has nothing to do with you wanting anything. It's not about you

smh

If they are not doing good works, such as helping those in need, how can the love of GOD be in them? They have no compassion.

It may not be obvious from the outside view . For eg someone who is very quiet who gets saved.

There will be fruit from being saved.. but that doesn't mean they will always be faithful.

Works are not measured by God according to outward activity but the underlying motivation in the heart. Read Matthew 7:21-23. Those people who Jesus told to depart had great works and would put many Christians today to shame. Nevertheless, their works didn't lead to eternal life.
What did lead to eternal life if not works? The answer is found in Jesus response...I never knew you.
If you read John 17:3...this is eternal life...KNOWING the one true God and Jesus Christ.
While it is true that all Christians will have works, the better barometer is the spiritual gifts which provide the proper internal motivation that makes their works acceptable to God. Do an individual's action express love, joy, peace, longsuffering, etc?
This is what was true of those to Jesus' right.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:35-40

Interesting this group didn't even know Jesus, but did the works expected of one who did. They were saved. Their works proved they were saved.

Wow...of course they knew Jesus. But because they did their works in the power of the Spirit they didn't take credit for it. But Jesus kept a record. That which is done in secret will be rewarded openly.
And knowing Jesus is not simply about recognizing Him and knowing details about Him, although that is included. The greater part of knowing Jesus is experiencing Him as you live, yet not you, but Christ who lives in you.

Assume whatever you want. Has nothing to do with the truth though, just you being yourself I guess.

You are trying to somehow discredit people you do not know. That actually says something about you.

John 17:3 literally says that eternal life is...knowing Jesus.

I am encouraging Christians to help others. You don't get rewarded for just sitting in church, going to a bible study and praying.

But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that God is one. Good for you! Even the demons believe that— and shudder. 20O foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is worthless?… James 2:19

Why do think we need that kind of encouragement? It sounds like you think no one here has stepped up.

Who gives out the rewards? You maybe? You must think so if you already think no one does anything

Your understanding of scripture seems pretty sketchy. Scripture handpicked by yourself to underscore your opinion seems to be nothing more than virtue signaling in ignorance since you have no proof of a single thing you are saying regarding other people

You can't make this stuff up. It's like some poor dog thinking life will get better when it catches it's own tail
