Jesus did teach it. remember, Paul's word is the inspired word of God. ONLY those books that were inspired by the Holy Spirit made it into the Bible. (2nd Timothy 3:16,17 & 2nd Peter 1;20,21.
But how do you reconcile the Grace teachings of Jesus, with the Grace the Church says Paul taught?

Where did Jesus ever say that salvation was by good works or works of the Law?
Great Question!!
Answer.....
(John 14:21-23)
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

My witness??
(Romans 2:6-7) God "will give to each person according to what he has done." To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life

When Jesus died, he did so for the benefit of all men: He took on the the rightful punishment for the sins of men even though He had no sin Himself:
.
If this is true, why does God discipline those he loves when they sin?? Isn't disciple punishment??
(Hebrews 12:4-11)

That was A TEST. Not a declaration of how one may obtain eternal life! No one can keep the commandments perfectly.
According to the church this is true, but according to Jesus this os blatantly False.
Proof?
In (John 8:34-35) does Jesus say those who commit sin will be saved?

just a another weak attempt to make Paul contradict Jesus.

which of course he did not....
Brother...I wholeheartedly agree, Paul did not contradict the teachings of Jesus Christ.
But the teachings of Grace in the Church today, those teachings can not be reconciled with what Jesus taught in his Gospel. If I am wrong...show me where Jesus taught that Grace does not require our obedience to God.

Consider almost the entire book of John and then compare with Pauls letters... No contradiction
I totally agree Brother!!
But as you well know...the book of John is not bring taught in most of our churches as a foundational teaching.

Well here is how I see it, the main core of the issue to me is the one little phrase we made him our savior but not our Lord.. This is not a new concept but when taken to heart you realize the gravity that phrase holds.

Grace does not mean he is a cloud we can fall on he firstly demands our obedience that is the main and powerful theme in scripture. He also a king with a kingship that follows with that he is Lor of Lords so yes we will mess up but the first important step is to make him our Lord and as Lord you don't mess around with his decrees or what he says your grace is in him and he is all the good things spoken of and his grace is a wonderful thing on it's own but obedience is the fruit of a follower of God but to obey out of reverence for him as Lord is entirely different it is something that you do out of actual reverence to him not simply to obey but you know the fear of the Lord that is something I got to feel first hand many think of it as bad and scary and while yes it is very intense not scary but you certaintly don't dare to look up at him in that moment this presence demands respect as him being the true king it is actually so intense that your spirit kind of speaks on it's own and the words I am under your feet just come out.

Not in a bad way but you place yourself there that is how much you suddenly revere respect and adorn him./ This experience was something to behold but the importance of it is the respect and reverence one gets from considering these thing and how it isn't about what grace is or works or mere obedience it is about him as king we obey willing for a reason and anyone who respects him won't use grace to make excuses I would love to see someone do something like that before his throne in his presence as God all mighty as king and Lord of all trust me your going to be humbled and put in your place you will know the fear of the Lord but not in a fun way
Well I read your testimony and it made me very angry. I love children and abuse stories bring me to tears. And there are too many stories like yours. I'm very thankful that you now have the Love of God in your life. My mother was killed when I was small so, I didn't really know love until I came to know God. But I never suffered the abuse you did. I'm glad you made It and I hope the life you've had in Christ has put your past in the rearview mirror.

So...could you catch me up sometime on how your life is now? And though you may have brain damage, it sure doesn't seem to show.

Faith in Christs righteousness is what saves us, but works will naturally come as a result of Jesus living in you.
Obediance is a delight when the Spirit is abiding in you.

Called me Friend...I like that!!

But if you believe in the Son, wouldn't you do what he tells you to do to show you believe in him?
If you don't do what he tells you to do, wouldn't this show that you don't believe in the Son?
If you must do what he tells you to do to show you believe, and you must believe in the Son to be saved, wouldn't this mean you must keep the Lords commandments...else you will not be saved??
Depends which commandments your talking about.

Also depends on whether the Holy Spirit has empowered you to implement the commandments.

We can't do it ourselves.

Good reply.

This is one very tricky area to navigate.

1) We are only ever saved by grace through faith in Jesus
2) We bear the fruit (love) that the Holy Spirit has endowed us with

Everything is from above and we cannot earn salvation.

A true believer in Jesus will bear the fruit but the fruit does not save.

Neither of these Scriptures teach that anyone is save BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW! However, if you want to go that route God will expect 100% obedience to ALL the works of the Law from Exodus to Deuteronomy.

Why do you believe Paul taught, "Not by Works, but by Grace", when Jesus Christ didn't?
Why do you believe Pauls teachings on "Grace", are foundational teachings, when in the Gospel of Christ, Jesus never even said the word?

Its very important, especially in these days of globally excepted immorality, for all believers to discernibly understand why Paul taught it.
The reason...
Paul taught what he did about the Law, because the Jews never really grasped....why God had given them the Law. Paul used Abraham as his example, but the answer is in understanding why God never gave Noah, Abraham, Isaac nor Jacob, the same Laws...he had given to Abrahams children.
That's right....many do not realize it, but all these men were given Laws to follow. God commanded each one of these men to do something. The things God told to do...were Gods commandments.
(Genesis 26:5) Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

But Paul says...Abraham was not under the Law. This is true, but Paul was talking about the Ten Commandments. These men did not need to be given these moral Laws of God, because they loved him and because they loved him, they were already written on their hearts. Obviously...there were very few men like Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob...else they would also be in the Bible. But why did God give Moses the Moral Law??

Well we must remember, the Children of Abraham were enslaved in Egypt for over 400 years. So these generations of children, did not even know God. And because they did not know God, they did not love God as their Father Abraham did. Read about their actions right out of the gate, immediately after they left Egypt. These folks couldn't even follow the simplest of Gods commandments. They were a very disobedient lot to be sure. So they needed discipline, discipline there forefathers did not require.
So how do you discipline the the disobedient?
You must exact punish for disobedience, for breaking the rules.
But what if there are no rules, no rules written on their hearts as there were with their forefathers?
This is why God put them under the Law of Moses. God had given their Forefathers commandments to keep, but they were never Under The Law.

outta time...talk more tomorrow

Gotta go...

Did you forget the verse below? “Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” (Matthew 19:17)
You have quoted from a corrupted bible version. Here is what Jesus actually said: And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Your quote omitted "that is God" which was the most critical part of that quote. Also it is not "about the good" but "why callest thou me good?" BIG DIFFERENCE.

1. So firstly Jesus was telling this man INDIRECTLY that if he considered Christ to be good then he would need to acknowledge that Jesus is God. Which meant that he would have to put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not his own good works which God would regard as "filthy rags".

2. Secondly Jesus was telling this man INDIRECTLY that his claim to keeping the commandments was false, and even if he went that route he would need to keep them 100% perfectly to obtain eternal life. An impossibility for anyone and everyone since God sees them as "filthy rags" compared to His perfect righteousness, and no one can actually keep them 100%.

3. Thirdly -- and most people fail to see this -- Christ only mentioned the SIX commandments which pertain to relationships with others. But the first four commandments were not mentioned. Why? BECAUSE THIS MAN WAS BREAKING THEM DAILY BY WORSHIPING WEALTH MORE THAN GOD! That is exactly why he walked away when told to abandon his wealth.

4. Anyone who foolishly believes that salvation is via good works, or a combination of faith + works is just fooling himself and ignoring what is actually taught in Scripture.

And what are Jesus' commandments? Are you suggesting that it's the 10 Commandments that Jesus is referring to?

Because your definition creates a Faith without proof of God.
it is not my definition ---it is God's Word who says it ----Jesus is the Word ----------Jesus is Grace --

So you are entitled to your view as well ---but you can't change what the Word says ------

Grace is Jesus

Grace is a gift from Heavenly Father given through His Son, Jesus Christ. The word grace, as used in the scriptures, refers primarily to enabling power and spiritual healing offered through the mercy and love of Jesus Christ.

Where in the Bible does it say Jesus is grace?

Romans 3:23-25

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

The law came by Moses but grace and verity came by Jesus Christ . John. 1.

I think Jesus taught grace but the apostles never really understood it till Paul taught it.

But by grace we have received.....the gift from God (JESUS) who takes away the sins of the world.
We did not earn that gift but by the grace of GOD he was sent.
All of us are dead in trespasses and sin...fit to be gathered and burned.
But GOD held back and holds back his judgement and offers a way of salvation which is the only way (JESUS) not that we deserve it because of our actions but because of his love and mercy.
