He is using a proverb to talk about people who at one time confessed to be christians who returned to their sin (vomit) and explaining why they returned to their vomit

because they are dogs.

A dog will always return to his vomit. like a non believer will always return to his sin. John said whoever sins (of the world. eats their vomit) has never met God, whoever is born of God can not sin (go back)

why do you reject scripture?

Peter is showing habits.

These saved people still kept their old habits and that example is no different than a dog returning to its vomit or a pig to its mud.

Face it, now you are twisting word meaning because of the doctrine you are trapped in.

If one escaped the world. yet has not recieved Christ, and has the knowledge of how to be saved, yet rejects that salvation in the end, that person have it harder than a person who rejected Christ from birth.

A dog returns to his vomit because he is a dog.

You can not interpret peters use of that any other way.

Maybe THIS is the whole issue with people who think Jesus can't keep them saved.

Knowledge may reinforce my Faith and certainty that I am saved but it is THIS that makes me KNOW IT!

16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
'm saved, but it is my spirit and the Holy Spirit

repent my friend, and allow God to save you. if you are not saved already,

He will change you.. and ge will give you thge holy spirit to help you change, and make you into a new creature

if you did get saved at one point, remember your first love, because it appears you have forgotten it

I pray you repent my friend, and stop trusting in yourself.

If I am twisted because my faith is in Christ, His promise, His work, and His holy spirit. and not myself, then thank God I am twisted. Because every time I rely on myself and not God. I fail.
