I don't know what Bible you're reading.

The very first message that Jesus preached was that people needed to repent.

Mark 1

14Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

When he sent out the twelve, they told people that they needed to repent.

Mark 6

12And they went out, and preached that men should repent.

When Jesus was commissioning the 70, he pronounced woe upon Chorazin and Bethsaida because they hadn't repented, and he told Capernaum that it would be thrust down to hell.

Luke 10

13Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. 15And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.

When he gave his great commission, he instructed his disciples to preach repentance for the remission of sins among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Luke 24

46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Paul preached repentance everywhere he went as well, and he did so in obedience to the heavenly vision that Christ gave him.

Acts 26

19Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: 20But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

If I were you, then I'd take a second look at the cover of whatever book it is that you've been reading. My guess is that it doesn't say "Holy Bible" on the front of it.

Jesus and the apostles preached repentance, and all those who follow in their footsteps preach it too.
repentance simply means to turn

... you need to turn, you need to believe the FULL gospel [I'm not saying you are not saved] you need to understand that Jesus not only bare our sins in His own body but our sicknesses too, our grief, our sorrow, our burdens, our troubles, our poverty

You need to

Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all of His benefits
Who forgiveth thee all thine sins
who healeth all thine sicknesses
who satisfieth thy mouth with good things.

I guess you would say you were a staunch believer in the IMMUTABILITY of God, that is to say He never changes ... but you say He HAS changed, you talk about repentance, you've fastened upon that but you don't say why?

The Kingdom of God has come nigh

The Kingdom of God to the Jew is when God shall reign all nations, there will be peace and joy and friendship with God, sickness will be banished, every man shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree. All the good blessings of the bible will be ours.

... those things we can have now, those things you never talk about.

No, it doesn't.

2 Corinthians 7

9Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 11For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Genuine repentance unto salvation begins with godly sorrow or a sense of remorse for sinning against God or our neighbor. What comes after it is carefulness not to commit the same sin again, a clearing of one's self in that they've genuinely repented of what they had previously been doing, indignation against the sin that they once committed, fear to ever commit the same sin again, a vehement desire to do that which is right or pleasing in God's sight, a zeal for God, and revenge against the very type of sin that they once embraced. When these types of fruits or works are evident, then we've approved or proven ourselves to be clear in the matter.

Again, as Paul said in his own testimony:

We need to be preaching to sinners, and to ourselves, that they/we need to repent, and to do works meet for or worthy of repentance. You can claim otherwise as much as you want to, but I'll never be swayed from following what the scriptures actually teach.

Says you.

I've shared the gospel with thousands of people since becoming a Christian, and both God and I know what I've talked about with them. In fact, just yesterday, on this forum, I spoke to a new member here about some of the things that I allegedly "never talk about".

You've gone from misrepresenting what Jesus and the apostles preached to making false accusations about me.

What's next?

I'd recommend repentance.

You teach "quid pro quo" then.

Are you asking me if we need to repent of our sins in order to be saved?

If you are, then the answer is yes.

Is it possible that you don't know that the Bible teaches this, or am I misunderstanding your post?

For anybody reading this thread, repentance from dead works is the foundation of the gospel, and it is listed ahead of faith or believing in scripture.

Hebrews 6

1Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3And this will we do, if God permit.

This is the same order that Jesus placed them in when he began his own preaching ministry under the power of the Holy Spirit.

Mark 1

9And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness. 13And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. 14Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

We repent from dead works and believe in and put our faith towards Jesus and His work.

This verse does not state repent (feel sorry) for your sins and be saved.

What it is saying is to change your mind and accept that sin has been forgiven, that is the Good News, the remission of sin.

I just showed you that Jesus instructed his disciples to preach repentance for the remission or forgiveness of sins.

Do you believe the words of Jesus?

Is there salvation apart from forgiveness?

And btw "metanioa" in scripture does mean to .>>>> changes one mind away from one thing towards another.
And you know this because a concordance told you so?

The Bible interprets its own terms, and I've already provided a biblical definition of repentance in a previous post.

True repentance is accompanied by works meet or worthy of repentance. In other words, there's a genuine change in one's behavior. If there's no such change, then unquenchable fire awaits.

Matthew 3

1In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 3For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 4And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey. 5Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, 6And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. 7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 9And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 10And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: 12Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Wow is that the best you got, it is a well known fact what "metanoia" means in Greek, and the word "repentance" is derived from the Latin word paenitentia, meaning feeling sorry which is not the meaning of the Greek word.

I am sad you are are front loading works onto salvation which is a gift, there is no quid pro quo.

We are not given the gift of salvation based upon how much sorrow we can generate.

We receive the gift of salvation when we beleive, have faith/ trust in Jesus and His work.

You most likely believe salvation can be lost or forfeited.

it's the completed Holy Scriptures which exhort us to earnestly desire the gifts and to speak in tongues

... doesn't say anything about them ceasing
You know it does...

1Co 13:8 Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall be done away; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall be done away.

The Greek word translated here as: "done away", in regards to prophecies and knowledge, could be translated "will end" or "will stop". In both cases the Greek word is "Passive" in it's voice. This means something will cause them to stop. As for tongues, the Greek word translated "shall cease", is in the "middle" voice, which means that tongues will cease on their own and they have. There is no mention of tongues in the NT after about AD.58. (About the time of the Corinthian epistle). All of the rest of the letters that makeup the NT, do not speak of tongues anymore. There is no mention of tongues being seen or used in the early church letters, from AD.95-AD.350. These writers being the closest to the Apostolic era.

Now that God's Word, has been perfectly revealed, in the Scriptures, these gifts are no longer needed.

do not I pray you be foolish

knowledge has not been done away, the perfect has not come, Paul wrote the best scriptures in that his understanding was greater than anybody else's, his revelations more. yet quoth he "we see as through a glass darkly, when the perfect is come what we now know only in part we shall know fully, we shall see face to face"

At the end of his life he claimed no perfection, no perfect knowledge, no perfect revelation.

Knowledge shall indeed be done away along with the gifts ... when the Perfect is here.

You've gone from misrepresenting what Jesus and the apostles preached to making false accusations about me.

What's next?

I'd recommend repentance.
I wish brethren would learn the difference between dealings with the church and dealings with the sinner. I BELIEVE in godly repentance and producing the fruits thereof.

You can't expect sinners to produce godly fruit, what should you expect from sinners? you should expect them to sin. Whatever the sins of the day may be. Is it fashionable to be homosexual or bi sexual? or transgender? these things were fashionable in the Greco/Roman world that Paul lived in, they are fashionable today ... go read Pauls sermons [there are but few] in Corinth or at Mars hill see if he blasts them for these things, threatening them with the everlasting burnings.

He does not.

Again look at Peter's dealings with Cornelius and importantly God's dealings with Peter in preparation to his going to Cornelius.
Aw those Gentiles were dirty, unclean. You can be sure that Cornelius in his position of authority was well conversant with all the sins of Rome.

Peter said "oh no Lord I have never had aught to do with unclean heathen, not so much as to enter their homes" But God said "I've cleansed them"

What about that?

God said "stop calling them unclean see, I've sent My Son to bare their sins away on the cross"

"Ok" Peter grumbled "but after I've told him all the good stuff I'm going to put the fear of God up him. I'm going to tell him if he doesn't change he'd better be prepared to burn"

Peter never got to all that stuff, while he was still recounting the good news the Holy Ghost took over and fell upon Cornelius and his whole household.

The same thing is true of Phillip in Samaria the people turned to the Lord when they saw the miracles God did.

Once we's saved is different, we don't go back, it is very foolish to go back, it is foolish say Peter if we do not go on to add virtue to our faith, we look for fruit.

Sin for the Christian is not against the law but more seriously against the Spirit of grace.

Repent, turn to God, believe in His kingdom, receive the benefits of belonging to his flock.

Change your mind, change your mind, stop saying bad stuff, stop with your finger wagging, your dark threatenings ... tell the GOOD news.

I never forget my earliest experience of church, it was a communion service at which people stood and gave testimony to the Lord. One by one they old saints stood up to give praise, telling how good God had been to them, what blessings they had received, His marvellous patience with them, how He pardoned their frailties.

And I heard how the Christians went down to the park in the afternoon to witness so I went with them. I got a shock, blown away.

These very SAME saints standing on boxes pointing around at all the people cursing them to hell fire, telling them what wicked sinners they were. I was staggered beyond belief, these were the same sweet and gentle saints transformed into snarling rabid dogs.

Change your mind, change what you are saying, the things you testify in private to each other THAT'S what people need to hear so badly.

Some folks get saved by this kind of preaching ... most people get saved because they were in trouble and they turned to the Lord and He helped them.

It's easy peasy to stand up and holler the sins of the people, people know they are sinners, what we have to learn is to smile and say God loves you, turn to Him, He'll help you, He'll fix you up.
