Chapter 2

The Memory Hole

The electronic censorship these days reminds me of 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and a theatrical remake based on the book, Equilibrium.
I found that most of the subjects I sought weren't in over a dozen libraries of the cities, towns or rural areas of my local counties. One university that I attended would not let me use their computerized card catalog to look up books or to check them out sometime after graduation. Specific books and subjects were so unavailable that I decided to buy 98% of the books that I thought important for reference. If there's ever a time when internet access or libraries are only available for biometric users, I should be more than content with my personal library. I am a friend to the librarians at my former church. Someone decided to get rid of books that were no longer considered important at the library. Unfortunately, it included the only copy of the King James Bible they had. The pastor made sure a copy of the Living Word paraphrase was available at the entrances to the auditorium. The takeaway I learned is that God has always provided everything necessary and many luxuries, like books. I appreciate the good librarians and any good libraries that shun the story hour fat girlie guy programs like This. <That's not my local town, but these types have been invited to lead children's programs at our main public library that receives lots of tax dollars. As much as I liked the library at one time, I reject everything about them now. I let others like yourself know, so that you can be aware.
What the local libraries would be better off with is Conan the Librarian. 😄
I buy my books on Google Play because I don't want to pay shipping and I wanted immediately
I just buy the digital book on my phone
I wanted to check out that latest Neil deGrasse Tyson book at my local library and I was number 50 in line

As far as I know China is not supporting Putin and his invasion of Ukraine and America will probably try to avoid war with China seeing as how we buy literally almost everything from them.
We are already at war with China. They are trying to bring down our currency. WWII determined that the US would be the reserve currency, that was perhaps the biggest spoil for the US for that war. All of our fighting in the Mid East since then has been our defending our position with a reserve currency.

It is incomprehensible to me that anyone would think that Putin would go to war with NATO and the US without China having his back.

You can't buy books on google play. They give you access to the book but they have it in the contract that they can withdraw that access.

As far as I know, Google Play books cannot be shared
It's linked to the Google account that purchased it
check the fine print, it includes giving Google the right to withdraw access.

I've spent a lot of hours in libraries.
One service believers can have over unbelievers is to influence head librarians, principals and school boards about this.
Public schools here are requiring biometric hand scans and finger prints for school lunch purchases. If you ever run into this challenge, let me know and remind me. I know a very good law firm who might want to fight for Christian rights on this issue.
what are you talking about ...some christians ARE head librarians, principals and on the school board.

Of course, but most are not. There aren't enough in those positions to make a difference because a small percentage are willing to risk their jobs.
That's why we should support our brothers and sisters when they have a challenge.
The homos are very vocal and supportive of their warped cause, yet they are in the vast minority. They get together and hound the people who make decisions in those positions.

On the other hand, I went to a school board meeting with a man who's boy was not allowed hot lunch or participation in restricted activities without a biometric hand scan. It was announced and phone calls made, but only three of us showed up. That was shameful.

Institutional lunches everywhere are horrible. I agree, schools are no different.
I told the parents that I don't agree with their choice to send their boy to the gt school, but I will support their stance against the biometric requirements on Biblical grounds.

I'm single with no children and have zero interest in the schools. They steal large sums of money from me every year like the mafia. That's my only involvement.
If the Lord ever blesses me with a right woman and we have children, they will never see the inside of a gt training institution like a public school.

Then why do you post about something you have no interest in?

Just don't pay your taxes and hide all your money in a swiss bank account then.

Sorry your posts don't make sense. I'm sure there are plenty of Dads in the US who take the Glass Castle approach to education.

Some people have argued for getting rid of public schools but I think that would be a bad idea because what would end up happening is only people who could afford private schools would get an education
Not everyone has the credentials to homeschool

I have not heard anyone who has argued for getting rid of public school. The only argument I have seen is that the $10k on average paid for each student each year should follow the student.

Also, most homeschoolers focus on Elementary school and JHS. Who doesn't have the ability to do that? BTW you don't need "credentials" to homeschool.

Homeschooling kids with no actual credentials? This is how you end up with a generation dumb as a bag of hammers entering the workforce

On the contrary homeschoolers greatly outperform public school kids. Your ignorance is incredible.

1. I have homeschooled 3 kids. There are several very good teaching programs that I used. One was excellent at teaching algebra, one was excellent at teaching geography (both US and worldwide) and there were other award winning software programs.

2. Every week we went to the public library and picked up books. I used lists that are easily available and searchable. They learned english by reading books at their level. My kids each read over 50 books a year, over 3 years we are talking about close to 200 books, many of which won pulitzer prizes. The authors were their "teachers". They taught them history, science, english, literature, etc.

I homeschooled my two oldest because they had come from China and didn't speak a word of english and would have gone into the sixth grade and been lost. Three years later they both entered the public high schools, they both were valedictorians of their schools, and no one at the school knew that english was not their first language. When my daughter was a senior they were concerned that she had not taken any foreign language, that meant she would not have an advanced degree and yet she was going to be the valedictorian of a school of 2,000 kids. I asked if you can test out of this, they said yes. I said give her the Chinese test. They had no idea she was fluent in Chinese. When my son was about to graduate he met with the principal who was also Chinese and she commented on how excellent his Chinese was saying that most Americans spoke with an accent. I told her he had been born and raised in Taiwan, she had no idea.

I also homeschooled my youngest child who had a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist and needed a para to walk around school because they were concerned he would fall down the stairs. We taught him the violin which helped his fine motor skills and gave him perfect pitch so he no longer needed the occupational therapist or speech therapist. I took him hiking up mountains which was extremely difficult for him. It would take us 12 hours to do what others were doing in six. Sometimes I had to tie a belt to my pack that he could hold onto. But after a few months he no longer needed a para because he could do the stairs at school without issue. He graduated as an honor student.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Just saying. If you are running a business do you want to hire someone whose parents taught him that two plus two equals potato? This is why allowing homeschooling with no credentials is a bad idea
