I wasn't referring to any hackneyed apostate. I was referring to Bart Ehrman.

It's OK to admit you can't debate his points and you only accept the contemporary written New Testament versions. Not every Christian is aware of the history behind the gospel present day appearance in a scripture.

Below is P-52. A fragment of the gospel of John dated to 2nd century A.D.

Keeping in mind we do not have the original scrolls containing the gospels.
What we do have are copies of innumerable copies of and beyond the originals.

And that the gospel first spread by word of mouth , the original written accounts are what would be called hearsay. Because original records do not exist for review.

And that's understandable when later copies beyond the originals are mostly fragments today.

So what exactly use your point? That the Bible we have today is not written by the Spirit of God and miraculous in nature? I will let you know that I am 100% convinced that it IS without a doubt miraculous in nature. Accurate. An integrated message system from beyond our time and space domain, written by the finger of God. It is for all intents and purposes code with all of its attributes.

If this hackneyed apostate disagrees that is his problem not mine.

If we're talking about the video uploaded to post#50, I did not find it compelling.

Each point in his argument could be explained multiple ways, so when he claimed otherwise, his claims just seemed extremely ad hoc.

So... I suppose the "5 crucifixion theory" is possible, but I didn't find it compelling because the claims were overstated, and all the points seemed ad hoc to me.

I also don't think it's that important, since it doesn't seem to affect any Christian doctrine.

Take care.

All that I can add is that Bullinger is no dunce.

Well, luckily we can disagree with Christian brothers respectfully, without calling them dunces.

Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side (one), and Jesus in the midst.

"enteuthen kai enteuthen"

2+1+2 = 5 crucifixions total.
CHuckle!! Victor Weirwille used to teach this lie at the "WAY INTERNATIONAL" HQ in New Knoxville Ohio. That was the first time I'd heard that garbage.

It is new to me. Quite frankly at the moment I lean towards five.

That's a pov not even held by pastors who attended divinity college. But if it works for you that's good.

God Bless.

Did your team win the playoff game?

OK.....THE hackneyed apostate lol.
Better tell him that yes, in all likelihood, it HAS been 2520 (360 day) years from the first siege of Nebuchadnezzar 606BC to May 14, 1948. But the 3rd seige 586BC to June 7, 1967 (2520 years) can be nailed down to the very day.

And that Scripture possesses certain attributes of code, fractals, holograms......and a whole lot of other things.

Maybe all of that stuff is beyond his reckoning. Maybe he needs to get around a little. Oh well. It is up to each man to gather his own manna.

Speaking of manna, you would think 40 years of it would be enough to convince anybody. Not this joker.

Yeah. That's Why I bailed on the last Church I was attending. He (the pastor) didn't "get it" either.

On one occastion, he sent me a paper, where he espoused a theory that the post-exilic Jews conjured up this whole business of fallen angels begetting nephilim and giants etc etc right out of their vain imagination.

And this guy and his second banana were vociferous amillenialists. This despite truly gargantuan volumes of Scripture to the contrary.

Goodbye, good luck, and happy landings was my response.

That pastors supposed claims has nothing to do with Bart Ehrman's field of study.

I think that you missed my point friend.

That being: both are holding.....and promulgating......lame-brain, uninformed, off the wall and bizarre apostate theories.

Truth be told, most any unsanctified idiot can do the same. And do so far too often.

On the other hand some others (who are genuinely sanctified BTW), see things.....differently.

I didn't miss the point.
Your pastor experience has no similarity to Bart Ehrman.
Bart Ehrman's field in part is Hermeneutics. His credentials are extensive.

You are fully entitled to your beliefs however, when it comes to professor Ehrman your slander against him just shows you don't know what you're talking about.
There's no sin in education. Thinking the bible was written by the finger of God is simplistic and of course untrue.
The bible has a history.

Ancient textual fragments exist as proof of that. Ignoring these facts and calling people names doesn't erase those facts.

Have a good evening.

You should know better than to be defending a false teacher -- a wolf in sheep's clothing -- a minion of Satan. Unless you yourself love false doctrine.

Bart Ehrman’s Latest Attack on Christianity
Whenever I read an Ehrman book, déjà vu kicks in. His core message is always: “Christians are dead wrong; I know because I used to be one before I became enlightened.”

his argument is: miracles cannot happen, therefore christianity cannot be true.

yet he would make fun of the counter argument: the bible is true, cause it says its true.

both are garbage arguments, yet the first gets away with it in the "intellectual" circles, while the latter is made fun of.

You would be wrong about that.....

Exo 31:18
When the LORD finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, written by the finger of God.

Exodus 25 thru 30 were literally dictated to Moses, who consequently wrote these instructions down (same goes for many of the prophets). Along with much much more. In fact, these 6 chapters should be enough to make a believer out of anybody.

Understanding the Seven Feasts of Israel and their prophetic implications ALONE made a believer out of me. A long long time ago.

The manifold and staggering truths of the Bible has that effect. On some. On the called, the elect, those who are bequeathed with eyes to see, ears to hear, faith to believe.

Mat 13:16
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

Like many people, I experienced a full-fledged miracle, and if I were to tell ehrman there’s no way he could refute it.

Disagree. IMO the internal evidence of the veracity of the Bible is so profoundly devastatingly overwhelming that it is frankly beyond the scope of the human mind to comprehend. And not only that, this "message system" has been DISTRIBUTED (with flawless consistency of thought) over 3500 years or so. No mere man or group of men is capable of such a feat.

And another thought: no way, no how did a supposed group of zealous, scheming, maybe epileptic pre-or-post-exilic Rabbis trying to perpetrate a fraud write ANYTHING that made it into the Bible we have today.

2 Timothy 4:2-4
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

There are lots of false "teachers" that have their followings. Because they teach "doctrines" that people wish for.

They all have their assumptions. Those assumptions they state as facts.

So we have an argument of faith. People stating their differing assumptions as facts. The best story teller wins, the one who gets the most "votes"...:ROFL::ROFL:

Does this Magnify Christ or does it diminish Christ? If it magnifies Christ then it simultaneously teaches us humility. If it diminishes Christ then it simultaneously teaches pride and humanism.

We should know, by now, which is Truth and which is not.

Ehrman's position can be simply stated as:

The Scriptures are a fraud, Jesus is a liar, and believing Christians are fools.

We have a more sure word of prophecy. Did this lecturer conveniently forget about that?
Now here we go saint....lead the way if you will. The birth..life and death was not radom but according to the scriptures.
Very good saint. How could one person fulfill all that was required. He had to be sent.
Mathematical...it would be impossible i believe it to be 1 in 100 to the tenth power something like that.
He says this was made up religion...why then does it continue to follow prophecy the same prophecy that are found in the old testament. Why then has Israel been and continues to be front and center of all nations?
Why then is christianty hated above all religions?
If this was a made up religion as he suggest why has the event change time world wide?
