To me, it sounds like that guy was in ISIS or the Taliban or something. They have to abduct the victims first, of course. Then it's considered within that which "all their right hand obtains' and is theirs to do with as they like.

So what is the proper amount of clothes to wear so that one isnt in sin?Take a look at what else is "just part of their culture". Just because things are part of a culture doesn't make it not-sin.
Apparently, the post-fall garden of Eden was not one of those places. Maybe some places were exempted from the Adamic curse. And other places where clothing has nothimg to do with it at all
So if we wear aprons made of leaves; thats enough clothes to be a christian?Apparently, the post-fall garden of Eden was not one of those places. Maybe some places were exempted from the Adamic curse.
Genesis 3:7
“And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”
Personally I feel you would be remiss if you didn't accessorize with matching toque and a bedazzled rolling pin, but to each his own.So if we wear aprons made of leaves; thats enough clothes to be a christian?
I think that verse dont support wearing clothes at all. So they were naked before sin, and made clothes in their sin. So christians shouldnt wear clothes because it reflects the fallen state.
You're entitled to your opinion on what the handle ladies are wearing or not wearing but they are also entitled to their own opinion on what is socially acceptable because that's their cultureA lot of western women walk around just looking trashy... a bag would be an improvement.
That's true, but it's not un-pragmatic to wear clothes in hot weather; and at least they acknowledge that immodesty is sin... and self-control is not part of the fallen man.
Take a look at what else is "just part of their culture". Just because things are part of a culture doesn't make it not-sin.
As I have already mentioned in this thread, if someone is in extreme poverty and can't obtain or maintain clothes- it's a different story.
Namibia was ranked #2 in the world for their skin cancer death rate, but apparently the Himba avoid this by applying some compound to their skin... that seems pretty smart; but, even if they are poor and adaptive, the fact that Himba men share their wives with other men demonstrates that they have a shameless culture; which is the opposite of what actual modesty is. If poverty is not a factor, Christians will wear clothes- and you can see other Bantu ethnic groups in Namibia that wear clothes.
Yes, they are. They can choose to go their way or God's way. God has given us His Word. God has made it clear about what is modest and what is not, but you can do your own thing. Just do us a favor and don't pretend to be a disciple of Christ.they are also entitled to their own opinion
Ok then, what is modest?Yes, they are. They can choose to go their way or God's way. God has given us His Word. God has made it clear about what is modest and what is not, but you can do your own thing. Just do us a favor and don't pretend to be a disciple of Christ.
Ok then, what is modest?
Every one wants to use that term but no one defines it.
Pretentious much? All I'm saying is everyone has a right to follow their own culture and you can't force your beliefs on anyoneYes, they are. They can choose to go their way or God's way. Jesus himself said if someone doesn't want to hear you, you walk away and wipe the dust from your feet. That means you don't force your beliefs on peopleYour argument is with God's Word, not Oyster. Try to tell Him He can't enforce His "beliefs".
1 Corinthians 6:19
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”
Are you asking me to wipe your dust off my feet Dude?Jesus himself said if someone doesn't want to hear you, you walk away and wipe the dust from your feet. That means you don't force your beliefs on people
Where is that in scripture
This going to be fun. I will get us started:
First, we cover our pee-pee... all of it.
This is a good answer and i appreciate the honesty and the openess.I know people have different understandings and may not agree with my convictions or understanding of Scripture. But I'll share them anyway for anyone who wants to listen.
My guideline verses:
1 Timothy 2:9 & 1 Peter 3:3&4 about modesty and not wearing costly or extravagant clothes/decorations
Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertains to a man. This is where many don't agree, and they will bring up culture and what men and women wore at the time it was written, etc. How I see it is there was always a distinction. And I look into history and where pants-wearing began for women. It began as practicality because the women were trying to compensate for the men being at war and they were doing their factory jobs and such. Then there was women's suffrage where they wanted equal rights, and pants-wearing for many was a sign of (I'm gonna step on some toes here) rebellion.
(Of course, I'm not judging anyone's heart here because of what you may or may not wear, so there's no reason to be offended.)
Here's another scripture that gives us a glimpse into God's view of modesty: "Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon. . .uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers. Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen. . ."
My family used to dress VERY conservatively, similar to the Amish. but in the last few years things have changed and we've realized it's not necessary to dress quite like that to please God and not cause anyone to stumble.
I truly believe if each of us really seek God with an open heart, He will show us how He wants us to dress. And another thing I wanna say, you can "look the part" and be completely "modest" the outside, but your heart be far from modest.
I hope you are not claiming to be ignorant of what the Word says about nakedness.Where is that in scripture
I am all for it, but it gets hotter than the surface of the sun in summer here too.So if we wear aprons made of leaves; thats enough clothes to be a christian?
