I'm doing it, I'm starting a positive thread in BDF and the first person to be negative or fight or insult is gonna be barked out by my little white dog. And if I am forced to, I will pull out my German Shepard, Miss Brie and then you will be sorry!!

I grew up in an old timey church, we sang hymns, we testified as to what the Lord had done that week. The preacher stood up and preached the truth. He told us we could know that we know that we were saved and on our way to heaven. It was kind of like a song one of my favorite singers use to sing.

I believe in a God that sets the captives free
I believe in the blood that flows from Calvary
Does anyone love Jesus, does anyone hate sin?
Does anyone believe that Christ is coming back again?
But what God wants me to ask you, what He needs to know most
Are you saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost?

So here's the deal, what makes you "Happy in the Lord" today? You can keep coming back and post again if you like. Post a Scripture or a poem a song. What makes you feel blessed today?? Negative nellies need not post. We're having a praise fest, we're in the blessing corner and we ain't coming out.

I'm gonna start with being thankful for sisters in the Lord, not that I am not thankful for brothers. But I am thankful and happy in the Lord for sisters who are an encouragement in the faith. Some of us just talk in the forum, some privately but I am thankful and happy in the Lord for you!!

So who is next, let's keep this positive thread going and show the BDF we can give more praise and thankfulness than we can negative comments and arguing.

Sister Seoul Search, I sure do hope you will join this thread. Your posts have been an encouragement to me personally and I know I am not the only one. Let's light up the BDF with praise of all kinds. Let's go!!

I learned just now that I did not get a job that I really hoped to get. So why am I “happy in the Lord”? I prayed for God’s will to be done. I am confident that this is for the best because God’s will is better than mine.

I'm happy that I have some brothers and sisters in Christ to fellowship with in person each week.

Psalm 133:1
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

I'm also happy that Miss Brie's favorite bone to chew on isn't in either one of my legs.

Psalm 107:1-3

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the LORD say so...!

I did a biblehub search on "happy" and Psalm 137:9 came up... That was really disturbing without context.

But if you read the whole thing, it's a beautiful psalm; and I guess that makes me happy.

I have a friend who I've never seen without a smile on his face. He was saved when I met him and I learned of him as our relationship grew that he had a very sinful past. And when I asked him why he was always smiling he said, "I still can't believe God would save someone like me."
They say that as we age we lose our sense of wonder. I hope my friend never does.
Just recalling this story gives me great joy.

That reminds me of a friend from home. Wonderful man of God, always a smile too, there to do anything to help at church, or help someone in need. He was a horrible alcoholic and he was with his friend in a bar one night. His friend said " Do you know what we need to do"? he said "no, what"? His friend said " We need to get saved, that's what my mother tells me". And my friend left the bar, went to a local church and got saved. He went back to tell his friend but his friend would not listen. He's been promoted to glory and I don't know if his friend ever came to the Lord, I hope he did. He would tell anyone who would listen what the Lord had done for him. One of his daughters went on to Bible college and is now married to a minister. How the Lord can change a life. Wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks very much for the mentions, I greatly appreciate it!

I have to admit I'm struggling a bit right now, just trying to tread water against the waves 🌊 of life.

However, I am grateful that God has never abandoned me and continues to always provide.

A friend once told me that God may not give us what we want, but He gives us what we need -- including life lessons that might be painful.

If this is what God felt I've needed the past 18 months, then I'm thankful He brought me through and hope I am grasping the lessons He's trying to teach me.

God bless you all. 💕

Our church used to be a host church for Campus Outreach. College students would spend 2 months during the summer at the beach studying and evangelizing.
On Sunday's after church we would have a group of 4 or 5 over for lunch. After sharing a meal, we would have the students share their testimonies.
Stories of grace never grow old.

The other day I was in a nursing home talking with a woman who was visiting her dad. She was sitting in a wheelchair and she had an incredibly beautiful, radiant smile, and it saddened me that she was confined to a wheelchair. Then at one point she simply stood up. Turns out there was nowhere for her to sit so she sat in the wheelchair. I thanked God for her well-being. That made me happy! 😊

I do hope so! But usually if there is no fighting a thread won't stay alive. Pity.

Lol that actually works. Brie cornered a kitty the other day and hubby said she barked but didn't get close to kitty. As far as I know she's never been kitty slapped, so she has that instinct not to push her luck. lol

Brother, sometimes we agree, sometimes we disagree, but I do appreciate your posts. I appreciate your tone and your answers are backed up by Scripture, you never try to twist something to make it fit.

Don't we all just appreciate our sister?! She has made me think more than once with her posts. She is a blessing around here.

I recall back when I was in ministry. We had a split in our church and we were forced to leave. We had some seriously ill people in our family and then trying to cope with ministry to others when you just weren't feeling like you had anything to give. One evening we were all meeting at a friends home because we had no church to go to. My father picked this song to sing, I didn't know he did. It was one that I kind of knew but it hit me like a ton of bricks. I did something I hardly ever do in public, I feel apart. I cried and could not stop. I did learn some lessons, some I am still learning. I will just post part of the song, music speaks a lot to me.

Many times I have questioned "Lord why is this? I'd rather be living on mountain top bliss" but looking back I learned a lesson that I might have missed had the Lord not called me this way.

All things are working together for me, though at times it seems I don't understand. It's hard looking forward and his will plainly see. Back looking back I know I've been in His plans.

Very encouraging story, Kayla -- thank you so much for posting!

I know others in Christ have been going through and are going through a lot worse -- it's very inspirational to hear how others have made it through their hard times.

So, I am happy for the faithful witnesses of others who put their hope in the Lord.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and for writing this thread! :giggle:

Hi, seoulsearch,
Our church has been having a bible study on faith. The Lord led me to mention because it never came up, that the modern church as a whole gets involved in a lot of good works that require no faith at all to do. Then when a serious trial comes our way, we find ourselves without the faith to believe because we get outta practice.
Many times in my life I've went thru things to force me to use faith. Then I realized I was the one responsibel for many of these trials in the first place.
I dunno if that's your situation, but I prayed for you that the Lord would prepare you to fight the fight of faith.:)

Here's some scripture for you:
1Peter 4:14If you are insulted [k]for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, and of God, rests upon you. 15Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a [l]troublesome meddler; 16but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name. 17For it is time for judgment to begin [m]with the household of God; and if it begins [n]with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, [o]WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER? 19Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God are to entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.

Many in the church are going thru judgments in these last days, because God judges the church to get us ready before the tribulation. That's good news, because God is getting His church prepared for what's coming. Trust Him with everything, & He'll see you thru.
I hope this helps.
:)

Hi Edify,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this. I have a good friend who likes to tell me, "We're called Christian SOLDIERS for a reason." :) Your post reminded me of that.

Thank you so much for your prayers and edification. I really appreciate your time and prayers, and may you be richly blessed.

Also, to our beloved friend @oyster67, thank you so much for summoning me to this thread!

I would have never known about it if you hadn't tagged me. :geek:
