The Bible says that no husband should divorce his wife except for sexual infidelity to the husband.

Anyone who divorces his wife without the instance of unfaithfulness to the marriage bed and goes and marries a woman commits adultery and also causes the wife to also commit adultery if she chooses to marry again. Refer Matthew chapter 5:31 - 32.

This is Jesus directly laying it out for us.

That's why Paul would urge Christians not to get married. But with today's people, anything goes.

Whatever happens, don't let go of God under any circumstance. God bless.

Sexual infidelity is the only legitimate reason for divorce.

But what if a man is physically abusive? In that case separation is in order. If the man will not repent or change the separation may become permanent unless the man finds this situation intolerable and asks his wife for a divorce. Paul give his advice in such cases: "But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace." 1 Corinthians 7:15 I think this advice may be instructive in many circumstances.

The ideal situation would be for a man and woman to never divorce, but sometimes it's better to divorce than to subject a woman or children to an abusive household. I do think some Christians divorce too easily though and ignore scriptural teaching on the matter. They just want what's easiest for them.

I would not advise any woman to stay in a marriage with a physically/ verbally abusive husband. Unfortunately, the ideal situation is lacking in some marriages.

I've been thru divorce. Its such a messy thing.

Whose fault is whose.. how possessions get split.. whether the other is leaving to get the possessions.

My wife left me. She now is living with a man in another city. They aren't married.

My story is similar, though the other man died a couple years later, and I don't know her current situation.

To the OP, I consider physical abuse to be grounds for divorce, pursuant to Malachi 2:16. You may have to read a few different translations; the language is difficult there.

Don't limit it to a man.

Your last paragraph I agree with you but as I say above dont limit it to the man.

i voted no , because I believe Jesus taught it as a concession and not an approval.

If someone cheats in a marriage , they have the right now to divorce , but better is to forgive and reconcile

a he didn’t say you must divorce for infidelity but that’s the only valid reason if that’s what we choose

divorce is really bad for children also and the family unit

Paul encouraged people to get married to prevent fornication, if they could not contain. It is better to marry than to burn.

I think you misworded that. All you have to do to have a right to divorce is cheat in a marriage? I think you meant something else.

I've got a question... Where did Jesus, Moses, or Paul say a woman could divorce a man for adultery...or anything else?

lol thats your wording haha

“All you have to do to have a right to divorce is cheat in a marriage? “

my word was this

If someone cheats in a marriage , they have the right now to divorce , but better is to forgive”

“And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So no I meant what I said when one of the spouses commits adultery cheating on thier spouse the other now has the right to divorce them

But my point was it’s not a commandment “ you must divorce your spouse who cheated” and that it’s better to reconcile if you are able to forgive what they did , also better for the children of there are any

If a spouse cheats the other has the right by Gods word to divorce. That’s the only rightful reason but it’s better to stay together of there is forgiveness

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

is what Jesus said in the gospel only for males ?

and is it okay for men to cheat on thier wives but not okay for a woman to cheat on her husband ?

I chose "sexual infidelity" instead of "any reasonable cause", but I'll explain that:

I feel that "any reasonable cause" is too vague and open-ended. One person's "reasonable" is often another person's "frivolous".

On the other hand, I believe that sexual infidelity, physical abuse, severe verbal abuse and abandonment (or any combination thereof) are all suitable grounds for divorce. Doesn't mean that a divorce MUST take place, but rather that it should be an option on the table.

Hi bro.

Not sure why your Bible verse posted is relevant.

The point I am trying to make is that the focus that I have seen is based on man in a marriage who abuses his wife or has an affair.

The opposite can happen and does happen.

hello brother great big brother

“the focus that I have seen is based on man in a marriage”

My point in sharing that was to just suggest that there’s another point revealed regarding men and women and equality

“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:27-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what jesus said is for believers in him even though it’s spoken from a male and to a male perspective

Gods looking at and speaking to the person in the gospel not the gender so I was sort of just suggesting to think outside the box

See that new creation where there’s no male or female ?

“Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:16-

So my opinion and why I shared that is there’s no difference between male and female regarding the gospel and what he taught the differences are physical not spiritual

What Jesus was teaching was for all believers who would go forward in belief even though he was answering men in that cannotation ot doesn’t really matter if he said it about a woman because there’s no difference to him

sorry if that makes no sense lol anyways good to see you here

Thinking out of the box?

Amen to that.

That is what I was trying to convey.

I think I get what you are trying to convey and certainly a pause for thought for me.

Father bless you my precious brother in Jesus.
