When discussing gravity with a flat-earth proponent, it's well to keep in mind
that you and they will be using familiar term but will be talking about two
very different processes.
Standard gravity pulls down, whereas flat-earth gravity lifts up. In other
words: when suicidal folks jump off a bridge, they don't go down to meet the
Earth, rather, they hover while the Earth comes up to meet them. The
results are the same, but the process is different, viz: in one the jumper
moves down, in the other the Earth moves up because it's always moving
up though we don't notice it; sort of like riding an UP elevator. Once the
elevator is in motion, we don't notice because we're in sync with it; until
the car starts slowing down a bit too fast to a stop, and then we notice.
The Sun's movements are different too.
Actually the Sun never sets on a flat earth because instead of going around
the Earth like a hula hoop, instead it circles the perimeter of the flat Earth
like a halo. This is somewhat problematic because when you think about it,
that arrangement would never allow for darkness because the Sun would be
shinning everywhere all the time-- brighter in some spots while dimmer in
others but none would be dark.
For example: when it's high noon in San Diego on a normal Earth, it's
roughly midnight in Shanghai; whereas on a flat earth, there would be some
daylight in both locations.
Flatters insist water can't bend. But when drops of water contact a waxed
surface, they form beads; which are spherical rather than flat. You can also
pour water on a soccer ball and note that although not all the water stays
on, some does and the amount that does is bent to conform to the surface of
the ball.
