Ah.... except I don't think that scripture was describing prayer in the assembly. I think it was simply describing to us how the Spirit indwells and helps us individually.and do not forget the 'utterings' that no man understands but God only, unless there is someone with the gift to interpret
Peace
Hello Dear Brother,
You said: "that’s sort of where my Mind is brother we all have opinions and beliefs yours are respected and appreciated but what can the Bible explain about these many things we all have thoughts about ?"
Let us break Bread and look at the words written by the Holy Spirit thru the Apostle Paul in 1 Cor ch10
v13 - Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.
v14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
*** Paul never said that his prayers in tongues is unfruitful = praying to God is not unfruitful ***
*** Paul said = verse 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him;
however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. ***
*** the Holy Spirit says: v4 "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself,"
verse 15 - What is the conclusion then? = (let us follow the conclusion of the Holy Spirit)
a.) I will pray with the spirit,
b.) I will also pray with the understanding
c.) I will sing with the spirit
d.) I will also sing with the understanding
(All of the above is approved by God)
I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say?
For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.
I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all; yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in a tongue.
My two dear Brothers in Christ, Pilgrimshope & 2ndTimothyGroup, who the LORD loves and so do i, are you able to see what the Holy Spirit says to us in 1 Corinthians?
PLEASE examine Posts 130, 131, 133 & 134 as it is a clear example on human reasoning versus faith in the Word.
It was Jesus who said:Stop lying.
Good day, Rosemary! I hope you are well
I don't think I'd ever thought of it that way, as pertaining to the end.
At Pentecost, tongues of fire settled on those gathered in the upper room, when the Holy Spirit of God came:
They saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
Fire, too, is often used symbolically, in regards to separating the dross from gold.
Thinking about it now, that brings to mind our trials by fire, as it were, when/where we are:
placed under extreme pressure or stress as a means of testing one's ability and expected to learn or perform.
One of my conversion experiences was like that...
Thank you, Pilgrimshope, that is very kind of you to say. It is a fairly prevalent theme in Scripturesamen a refiners fire that is prophetic understanding you always surprise me sister with the depth of what you know , and how you express it
Thank you, Pilgrimshope, that is very kind of you to say. It is a fairly prevalent theme in Scriptures
that people's trails and tribulations ultimately train us to rely more fully on God and less on ourselves.
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces
perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame,
because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

yeah that’s sort of what I was thinking we have opinions and yours is always appreciated
lol - what about the 'opinion' of the Apostle Paul saying: (Direct Quote) = 1 Cor 14:2 v4 and versus 14-15
v2 - "For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him;
however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries."
v4 The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself,
v14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.
v15 What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
Paul was very = as you would say = 'opinionated'
Which means that the Holy Spirit is very 'opinionated' = because HE is speaking thru all these men since Genesis.
Whay say you Brother Pilgrimshope?
Do you believe the 'opinions' of God or of men???
Peace my Brother in Christ
I guess discernment isn't one of the gifts or humility a work of the Spirit either. Love is a far better exercise of the Spirit than any on display here.
Let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem other as better than himself.
I wonder how differently this thread would have turned out with even a modicum of love and humility on display.
yes brother you have opinions about scripture how your interpreting those scriptures and as I was saying your opinion and take is always appreciated and usually a good one to consider
Clearly, there is both consternation and love on here = i see both in action
Humility comes when we agree with what God has said and then we believe it as we bow our knees and hearts to His Word.
Peace
What really happens in my heart is that it saddens me to see you missing out thru unbelief.
i am going to press you because i believe you have the love and the maturity as i do for you and God does for us.
Where is my 'opinion' in Post 329 when giving the direct quote from the Apostle Paul.
Where do i add my opinion to his words???
i have to go now
Peace to all
I think you would find something to contend with no matter what.Clearly, there is both consternation and love on here = i see both in action
Humility comes when we agree with what God has said and then we believe it as we bow our knees and hearts to His Word.

Brother, you really, REALLY need to read 1 Corinthians 12 again.... read it for what Paul is saying, not for what you WANT him to be saying.
It's pretty clear.... we don't all receive the same gifts... we receive what the Spirit gives to us. It IS the same Spirit (there is only one), but there are several gifts, and the Word makes it clear that every believer does NOT receive every gift.
Read the whole discourse about how the church is like a body made up of different parts. Not every part is an ear, not every part is a leg, etc.... each believer has a part to play... a job to do... trying to say that every believer HAS to speak in tongues, or they are not truly infilled with the Spirit is the opposite of what the Word says.
We say that these Gifts are still applicable today, but who is issuing the same kinds of healings that Christ and His Disciples issued 2000 years ago? Someone today is raising the dead? Huh . . . how about that. I haven't heard their names as of yet, so perhaps someone can inform us who possesses this gift.
Who, today, has the ability to eliminate leprosy? Who can replace teeth? Who, today, is granting eyesight to those who were born with blindness from birth? Who, today, can restore a crippled set of hands, or legs? Right . . . there isn't one.
These gifts continue today? Really? {/quote]
Of Course they do. God doesn't change, and what He did in 54 A.D. He CAN (and DOES) also do at HIS Discretion in 2022.
If healings exist today, let me know, as I'd like a new set of teeth, knees, hips, back, eyes, and of course, I'd really appreciate not having prostate cancer . . . so, would one of you wizards of knowledge please inform me who can take care of these physical problems? I'd really like to be healed.
Chuckle!! So would I (13 heart attacks, two open hearts, 21 stents, Congestive heart failure, Degenerative lower Spine, and type 2 diabetes). Fact is, however, that (Unless all Full Gospel pastors, missionaries, and Christians who testify are all bald-faces LIARS) healings, including all of the above DO still happen today.
I PERSONALLY may never be healed (The Doctors gave me until 2004, so the joke's on them), but that doesn't mean that God doesn't (at HIS Discretion) Produce Miracles of Healing in 2022. He ALWAYS Gives me what I need.
This from James also came to mindyes when I was reading your comment I was remembering the concluding chapters of the prophets regarding the New Testament
“Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:”
Malachi 3:1-2
it happens often when I read your posts prophecy comes to Mind often is why I said that the idea or concept of “a refiners fire “ and a “ fullers soap “
is well explained in your prior comment is why I chimed in always surprised and impressed when I hear scriptures in what people are saying always a blessing and what a great explaination that was sister
