On the day of Pentecost, what happened was to the apostles which fulfilled the prophecy of Joel as well as what was said by John the Baptist, and consistent with what the Lord said to the apostles in Luke 24:49; to tarry in Jerusalem until they received power from on high. It was for them and them only. And it was by them that the miraculous gifts noted in 1 cor12:8-10 which included tongues, was passed on to others by the laying on of their hands. So, does it happen today? No.
really? Joel's prophecy:

And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28

obviously NOT just for the apostles....where you receive the understanding it was only for the apostles?

My recommendation to you is that you would simply answer the questions instead of subverting them through silence. If I were you, I would separate yourself from the majority of this group and enter into reasonable, rational, mature, and effective communication. Thus far, I have seen extremely little of it (in this thread).
I did answer your question. Sorry the answer was not satisfactory in your opinion.

I included the scriptures that provide this truth. The records meet the requirement necessary to establish one's understanding of the truth that the infilling of the Holy Ghost was evidenced by speaking in tongues. (2-3 witnesses) And those to whom this occurred encompassed all groups of humanity; Jews, Gentiles, Samaritans none were excluded. As such God revealed what He established was and would continue to be common to all. Everyone throughout history has been a descendant of one of these groups. And since the Lord is continuing to call their descendants the promise of receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost provides authentication that the experience did, and will continue to be the same until Jesus returns. (Acts 2:38-39)
I hear what you are saying and more, I find you to be Knowledgable regarding the Word of God.

2 Peter 1:3 NIV - "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness."

I do not speak in Tongues nor do I have that desire. I have already had the most unbelievable Spiritual Experience that is so, so much greater than Tongues. In fact, I was Powerfully delivered from the Sinful Nature in the Arizona desert. I have felt the Raw, Almighty Power of God, and enough Power to not only part the Red Sea, but I have felt the Power that created the entire Universe. If God had revealed much more of His Almighty Power to me, my flesh may have somehow been altered, and if I had been lucky, I would have died at that moment. To experience the Peace and Love of our Powerful God in such a manner that nearly killed me, I cannot imagine a greater Gift. For that Holy Day I received the Gift of the Holy Spirit as I had just moments before been Purified of the Sinful Nature. I was Powerfully cleansed by Christ, and saved from the wiles of the Devil, for the Lord (in that moment), saved me from the Terror of the Lord . . . another evil, Spiritual force that nearly killed me just minutes before the Lord Purified and saved me.

I will say it again . . . there is no greater Gift that I could ever hope for than what I have already been given. I am 100% assured of my Salvation, for I know that the Lord would have never granted me such a remarkable, and Holy experience if I were to simply throw it away . . . or as "Oyster67" charged today, that I must come into the "Light" (indicating that I am seemingly lost). And this is why the things that you people say do not offend me, for it is impossible for me to be more assured of my Salvation than I currently am. I do not seek the praise or acceptance from any human alive, but I seek the praise of God.

Romans 2:29 NIV - "No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person's praise is not from other people, but from God."

If you have not received our Lord's Circumcision of the Heart, it would be wise that you seek it . . . with complete and utter desperation.

Well, perhaps you should try again. Here they are:

"Would you elaborate on that for us? Thank you.

If Tongues are necessary, what am I missing? How am I incomplete? What do those who speak in Tongues have that I do not have?"

That's pretty convenient. It allows you to believe and practice anything you want with impunity.
apparently you interpret what is posted with the same enthusiasm with regards to believing and practicing anything you want with your own version of reality

you don't see that though

honestly though, I would be careful about attributing to the devil what is of God

the more a person does that kind of thing, the blinder they become

yes, I believe so, revelation, toward the end.
Rev_1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev_12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Rev_16:10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,
Rev_17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
Rev_17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.

Cant find it any know where it is ... Looking for "millennial kingdom"

One of the biggest problems with tongue speaking denominations is they elevate one thing (tongues or other miraculous sign gifts) above everything else. Tongue speaking has become to these sects what the Sabbath is to Seventh-Day Adventists.
Being the 3rd generation of a' Assemblies of God 'family . I so wish i did not agree with you!

Thank You Brother for responding and i do see what you are stating here and even agree in some aspects.

Please answer the following as numbered so that i can follow your thoughts on this - thank you

1.) Were the Apostles more spiritually mature when they were walking 'face to Face' with the Lord Jesus? - Yes/No

2.) When and how did/does God determine that we graduate from the "immature stage of Christianity".

3.) When is/was the "city of mighty warriors" made complete whereby the "tools" are no longer needed.

Peace
Well number one.. is hard to define. The point when maturity happened isn't in the individual faith walk but with the event of inspiration finishing. It's all of christendom coming to that point, not individual faith.

Also the 'face to face' in 1 Corinthians 13 is to do with seeing in a glass fully, with a complete reflection.. that's the finishing of inspiration.

So point 2 would be the point of finished inspiration.

Oneness Pentecostals teach that speaking in tongues is a necessary manifestation of the Holy Spirit and without it, a person is not truly saved.. I would not agree with that. Not all speak in tongues. (1 Corinthians 12:30)

I would thoroughly enjoy a face-to-face conversation with these folks and the more, the merrier.

This is remarkable.

How do we arrive to = "finished inspiration" ???

Are you serious? That is unbelievable . . . how sad. That guy used to be my favorite pastor of all time.
When i was first saved i would tune my radio in just to listen to him - greatly enjoyed much of his teachings in Christ.

Brother, forgive me if i said anything wrong yesterday.
i am very short in my posts and they do not convey all of my thoughts as i hate typing.

We share in His Love for each other

Concerning this subject, you have been proven to be a false witness by the Holy Spirit when you claim: "It was for them and them only."
This comes from a heart of unbelief.

Please seek Truthful understanding from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far offto all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself.”
Acts 2:38-39
