They just agreed that JD can never be a pastor again. But that he can repent and be restored to fellowship.
You haven't watched the full video I posted in post #21 or its analysis in post #29.

People need protection from Pumpkin Spice...not lousy preachers. They can learn about proper doctrines but they are putting pumpkin spice in everything lately

You can't protect people from themselves; you can only educate them.

I am Lutheran. All Lutheran churches have crucifixes behind the alter. They are not idols. They arent worshiped or prayed to or touched. They are there as a reminder of the sacrifice of our Lord for our sin

We all have to be careful. We can preach the right things the wrong way, preach wrong things the right way(usually because of ignorance), as well as preach wrong things the wrong way.
The Bible teaches to expose false teachers/preachers, but if we cause more harm than good with wrong motives & attitudes, we are no better than they are.
We are to 'build up' others in the faith, & expose wrongdoing for the safety of the flock.
Are we "having compassion, making a difference'? Are our words seasoned with grace?

It makes no difference which side we are on if our motives are corrupt.

I see this in CC all the time. Every large conflict is full of it.

Let's make sure that we don't get distracted from the big job like so many others have.

John 4:35
“Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”

Chris Roseborough has stated many time his is not a cessationist. Lutherans are not necessarily cessationists.
I could be mistaken but his arguments sounded like those of a cessationist to me.

Man you really don't get it (or maybe you do get it). It's not about trying to get false teachers to repent; that ship has sailed. It's about protecting the flock who still care about truth.
The best way to deal with this issue is to:
(a) lay out the true Bible doctrine from Scripture,
(b) post a quote(s) of the false teacher's heresy below it (so that the contrast is clear), and
(c) list all the other heresies of this person below that, so that
(d) everyone can see why this "pastor"/"teacher"/"prophet"/"apostle" is a liar and a fraud.

Ok but he has explained his position directly,
If you have a video where he does this, I would like to see it. He comes off as a cessationist to me. He said cessationists and continuationists have come to a stalemate in the debate? Really? Cessationists don't have much to draw from, unless your ammo is the language of a specific confession or church doctrinal statement or just plain human reasoning instead of scripture.

I just started watching one of his videos. He takes a clip from Francis Chan, unnecessarily interprets the wording in a negative light, and it felt like he was responding to a big strawman argument instead of what Francis Chan was already saying. His videos are too smarmy and smart-aleck for my liking. Why doesn't he just teach the Bible instead of taking unjustified digs at other people?

You defend a fellow Lutheran, big surprise. Chris Rosebrough uses double standards: one for people he doesn't like and another for his friends. This makes him a false and unreliable teacher.

If you need an idol to remind you of the Lord, you're already defeated. What will you do when you're not within sight of the idol to remind you?

I'll see if I can find the video where he states his beliefs concerning cessation.
I have watched many of his videos. I agree he can be snarky unto off putting. His teaching is sound. I have seen by do a video on mr Chan (not sure if its the same video you watched) his assessment was correct.

A crucifix is not an idol. Its art. Art that depicts the sacrifice of our Lord. If that is an idol all crosses, pictures, and sculptures are idols. I have never been in a single church in all my years that didnt have crosses, and depictions of the crucifixion. Most Christian homes have similar art. In fact I have never been in a home that doesnt have any art, come to think of it. So if you or your church have such art that make you the holder of a double standard.
In the video they clearly made the case that JD Hall can never be a pastor again, but that he can repent and be restored to fellowship. That is the standard for all pastors who are found to be in egregious sin. I have never once heard Chris say other wise

I think Elijah was a little more than 'snarky' when taunting the priests of Baal about their false god. And perhaps king David was more than a bit 'snarky' when he called Goliath an "uncircumcised philistine".

I think many people today expect Christians to be weak in the face of evil, which is why the church is often so ineffective and effeminate. I for one applaud Chris Rosebrough for calling out these wolves in sheepskins for what they are, in an honest, reasoned way that I don't believe brings Christ's name into disrepute.

There was a time when we heard people say"We need to do away with pictures of Jesus on the cross because He's risen & no longer there. Back then I agreed.
But you know what happened to those that did? They quit thinking about Jesus on the cross dying for their sins & started thinking about themselves.
The older folks who left the church were right.... we should have left it the way it was. The REAL reason it was changed was because WE changed, & no longer wanted it. We were fooled.
