4 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
These are the items that make us one
Heresy is a school of thought. Every single believer is in a heresy. But Peter talks about "damnable heresies" these are schools of thought that deny that Jesus has come in the flesh, or that Jesus is the Son of God, or that Jesus death redeemed us, etc.
Bending the knee to idols is clearly not doing this as you are bending the knee to something other than one God, one father, one Lord and One Spirit.
Denying the existence of Hell is also clearly in violation of this as that is part of the one faith that was once for all delivered to us by the apostles.

One who chooses heresy is a heretic, for sure.

Perhaps referring to how the Father sees us as perfect through the Blood of Jesus even though we are not perfect otherwise.

We have scriptures that indicate those that turn away from God, and serve other Gods, will not lose their eternal inheritance of heaven.
God said that he hated Esau. God says that he chastens those that he loves. God does not chasten the wicked (Psalms 73:5).
