Well we in Germany are running into worse issues than the US. The US can produce enough for their own people.. we cant. With these gas prices its only a matter of time that our electricity and water systems collaps unless our politicians stop this economic war nonsense. I always thought the people hoarding and preparing for a blackout were crazy.

Not only Germany but all Europe is being stressed it seems. I am surprised that here in Chicago a company from Germany, (Aldi"s) is a well known retailer of inexpensive quality foods primarily. Stock up on nuts if you can. I call myself a nut nut and eat them with quick rice out of the box. Real tasty and no prep required but very crunchy till the rice softens after a short while in your mouth. I wonder if the gas shortage is going to be a deal with Germany and U.S. being negotiated.

The gas from the US is waaay more expensive and they already said that theyll give it to the big companies and stuff only. And strange enough basically every week theres blackouts in different areas.
Yeah ive been investing piece by piece in all sorts of stuff in case of a longer blackout but still we arent wealthy enough to get too much good stuff. My next goal is a petroleum heater but even that is quite expensive

I seriously doubt you could live only Josephs kitchens bread without eventually having some serious health problems.

I seriously doubt you could live only Josephs kitchens bread without eventually having some serious health problems.

So what? If you can get 80% of your daily bread for $3 then whatever else you find will supplement that. You can eat dandelions. Sure if they are selling butter or jam by all means get that. Famine doesn't mean 0 food, it means a very significant shortage so that people do not get enough calories on a daily basis and slowly starve to death. Also, buy beans and rice.

Unfortunately it's hard to prepare for things while they are happening. You need to prioritize and prepare for things that may come about from the energy shortages you are having now. Food and water should be on top of the list. There are also things you can do when it's cold and can't heat, like moving into the warmest room in your house and closing off the other rooms and moving furniture and stacking items against outside walls to act as an insulating barrier and cover windows with heavy blankets.

I don't bother with the energy shortage. Food + Silver. If there is an EMP it doesn't matter if your appliances don't blow out if the power plant does. It doesn't matter if your car still runs if all the gas stations can't pump gas and if all the trucks are no longer running.

If there is an EMP you will need a good sleeping bag and good winter clothes. Then you will have to learn to cook on a fire.

Nope, you can live off of Joseph's kitchen for $3 a day. What you said and what I agree with is that over the long term this diet will not keep you fully healthy. After three months you will have lots and lots of people dying. The situation will change dramatically from what we are thinking. Also, If you have a loaf of bread you can barter that.

I got myself a little steel stove to burn wood on and cook in the worst case scenario. Theyre trying though to scare people off from getting wood from the forest by threathening with upto 100.000 euros if you get caught. Doubt that they would be able to enforce that though if hell breaks loose

I've read alot of stuff about Germany, their energy problems, and their economy in big trouble. I'd really like to hear from someone who is actually there, on the ground.

Do you mind giving your perspective on these things?
