I'll say it. I won't mention any names, but yeah, people stretch the truth and lie here all the time.

Another name of Satan: accuser. I never said any of the folks here are lying about their testimonies not even once
I used the word demos quoting you?
Wow.
Being ignored by someone who says the experienced the inside working of other demons after speaking in tongues. Well that I suppose is a good thing.
here is one of your bizarre responses to me saying I experienced the working of other demons after I said I was putting you on ignore

you didn't understand what I said, so in your kindness you applied demons to your interpretation

what is the matter with you?

You consider it in context of all of scripture. So one event may not be prescriptive for all events.
Peter stated the following in answer to those who wondered what was going on at Pentecost. Peter made the point that the message he presented was for those present...and as many as the Lord God would call.

"Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Actually Magenta, Paul says that tongues is equal to prophesy when it is interpreted. Here is what I addressed in my post 172 and the same in another post previous to that. Sure we should be following the biblical guidelines but many do not.

I would that you all spoke with tongues but rather that you prophesied: for greater is he that prophesies than he that speaks with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. (I Cor 12 and 14 are addressed to worship as believers together)

That, would actually put tongues on the same level as prophesying, as edification of the body was/is the goal and not using gifts, when in public, for your own benefit.

The emphasis is on understanding so that all are edified or built up.

Paul also said Forbid not to speak in tongues I Cor 14:39
this is what it says in 1cor 14, as you have correctly quoted.

The false narrative of tongues being a lesser gift is just not correct. The idea of this is not seen in 1cor 14 but in 1cor chapter 12:30-31

30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

31 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

Paul is not saying Tongues is not the best gift, nor is he saying it is the best gift of the Holy Spirit

Paul is saying to use the gifts that best achieve the following.

4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

The gifts all of them were given for the betterment of the Body of Christ

Right there. I quoted you.

You stated that. See above.

I don't know how many times I have heard or read that tongues is a so so gift...the least in fact. At one time I believed it myself cause I heard it all the time.

But in reality Paul is not saying that at all. It is equal to prophecy if interpreted!

Who knew?!? :) It's all there. We just have to read it in the sense in what it is written.

This goes for those who would state that tongues have ceased because of I Cor. 13:10 also

this is true.

The more excellent way is to use the gift that best need at the time the body is needing that gift.

Tongues and interpretation don't help to heal when a gift of Healing is needed. The HolySpirit knows what is best; therefore yield to the Holy Spirit so one can be used to Edify, comfort, and exhort the body of Christ.

some would have you believe that the five-fold is not needed because we have the bible. That is not what is said in 1cor chapters 12 through 14. Or in Ephesians 4:11-14

Your poll options aren’t clear.

1. I’m not going to agree with something the “holy sprite” said even if I am 99% sure it’s (most likely) a typo.
2. “Gods guidances” isn’t a valid answer for why you don’t speak in tongues. I mean, what did God say in guidance to you (or in the Bible) to inform you that it you’re aren’t able or it isn’t possible for you to speak in tongues?

Are you a prophet?

So this is all about a misunderstanding where I made a list of questions to him, but I misread denom as demon. Which is why I asked the questions, because the statement didnt make sense as I read it. Which was my mistake. Anyway it escalated from there.

As others have said, speaking in tongues is a gift.

If you haven’t been given that gift it doesn’t make you a second class Christian in the Kingdom of God.

Do not let anyone tell you that it’s a sign are saved.

I was told years ago because I didn’t speak in tongues it was evidence I was NOT saved.
Yup - That's claim of the "UPCI" (United Pentecostal Church International), a minor lunatic fringe Pentecostal bunch. NO MAJOR PENTECOSTAL OR CHARISMATIC GROUP associates "Speaking in tongues" with Being Born Again, or Salvation.

In my case I was Born Again in 1963, and "Baptized in the Holy Spirit" (to use "Assembly of God" Vernacular) in 1973. which had three effects:

One was that "Tongues" showed up in my mind, and would flow as long as I chose to speak them.

The second thing was that I also was burdened occasionally to INTERPRET tongues spoken in church, although I NEVER was burdened to SPEAK in tongues in church.

The third thing was that suddenly I was moved into an intense role as a Bible teacher in small groups, generally from NON-Pentecostal Liberal denominations, and given the materials to teach by the Holy Spirit generally the night before the meetings. This went on for over a decade up in central Ohio.

Bottom line: NOBODY "HAS GIFTS" in terms of "personal ownership". The HOLY SPIRIT has all the Gifts, and HE burdens people with them AS HE WILLS, and AT SUCH TIME AS HE CHOOSES. HE may choose to use a certain person with a certain gift on a fairly regular basis (Like me with "Interpretation of tongues"), but in and of myself, I couldn't "Interpret a tongue" if you held a gun to my head.

Are there Phonys?

BOY HOWDY!!! Anybody can speak in tongues with a little practice, or rip off a properly Biblical sounding "Prophesy", or "Interpretation".

SO when someone gives me a "Prophesy", or a "Word from the Lord", I file it in "Pending", and wait for confirmation. MOST "personal prophesies" die in "Pending".

On another occasion, my wife got a "prophetic word" from a visiting speaker, so we filed it in "Pending", and a month later another individual, totally unrelated to the first "prophet", and to the church itself, gave her the IDENTICAL Word. THAT'S when you start to take it seriously.

Paul (1 Cor 14) cautions that when a person speaks a "Word from God" in a meeting, that others should JUDGE that "word" as whether it be "fish", or "fowl".

Anybody who commits resources on the basis of an unconfirmed prophetic word IS A FOOL!!!! I've still got my copy of "88 reasons the rapture will happen in 1988". Some folks lost a BUNDLE because of that phony book.

The scripture in Acts 2:4 actually confirms they were all filled. And afterward Peter confirmed that the Gentiles experience was the same. (Acts 10:45-47 and Acts 11:13-15)

Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 10:44-47
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Acts 11:13-15
And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
AS your cites say: The Holy Spirit ON people.

the prophesying must do the following is not then correct the person :

  1. line up with the word of God must be Biblical
  2. edify , comfort, or exhort
  3. Bring Glory to God
  4. must be confirmed
  5. judge by others according to the word of God in light of scripture.

Yes but where is the promise that all will speak in tongues? It says all will receive the Holy Spirit. But not every instance was equipped with tongues. Just like Peter in healing a lame man doesn't always bring healing today in ministries that promote the promise of physical healing.

Its very strange how many folks focus on tongues but not prophecy or healings or miracles or faith.
The so called faith healers in the public eye that I know of are all charlatans, no one trys to do any miracles like Jesus did. I have never seen anyone say a word of knowledge.
I've been to churches that emphasize prophecy and healing more than tongues.

I don't know who you have seen 'in the public eye', but I have witnessed a lot of experiences with the word of knowledge in church meetings and in one-on-on situations, probably hours worth of them, over the years.
