Hey Everyone,

The title says it all!

Choose as many answers as apply -- and just for fun, the poll results will be visible.

Then, for the sake of conversation, tell us how you would feel in this situation (facing a large stack of chocolate chip cookies RIGHT THERE,) and what the results would be!:unsure::LOL:

Looking forward to hearing the playful banter that this will hopefully bring out. :D

Just a fun little no-nonsense thread to start out the week. :)

Depends... Are these homemade or did they come in a little crinkly package from the store? Store cookies are not very tempting. I'd take a whole plate of homemade cookies.

Same for my friends: I wouldn't even bother mentioning store cookies to my friends. I'd let EVERY-flipping-body know about the homemade ones... If there were any left.

When I used to go to church we would have lunch at the church afterwards where everybody would bring a dish of some sort. It all gets put on the middle table and everybody helps themselves. It could be either savory or sweet. An elderly lady would bring a plate of handmade chocolate chip cookies that were large. I mean the size of the palm of your hand. They were freshly baked that morning. They were the best I have ever had. The problem was the little kids would gravitate to them and touch each one of them before deciding which one they wanted which were of course the largest. Aghh when they did that I would pass on them. The trick was to get there first before them because once they were there, there was no chance lol.

I can give you the recipe. The secret is oat flour (just put some oatmeal in a blender) for the texture that modern chocolate chip cookies just don't have.

ok thanks, I wont say no to choc chip cookies recipe.
I also saw on TV a lady that made healthy choc donuts. She baked them not fried them and for the frosting she used chocolate hummus. That sounds gross to me but she swears that you should not knock it till you try it.

Chocolate... hummus?

Um. Yeah. I'll pass.

Anyway...
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups self-rising flour
2.5 cups oat flour
24 ounces chocolate chips
5 ounce chocolate bar grated

Grind up the chocolate bar when you make the oat flour. Bake at 350F for 10-12 minutes. Have someone hide the cookies so you won't eat too many.

Now that all depends. If it is at work I think of a few things. Who made the cookies? Will it make me sleepy? Or did they just put them out? Because some people are not very clean or cannot cook. Also sugar sometimes makes me sleepy at work. If they have been out for awhile nooooooooopeeeee, because I have seen people pick their nose then grab cookies ;) Just some words of thought. Free is not everything

Well....
I hand out the cookies to the kids coming through the door.

But only if I made them.

I'm really enjoying the various answers we're getting here -- it's what makes these threads so much fun! It's been a long time since I've been offered free cookies in a public setting, so these things weren't even on my mind when writing this. I'm glad people have brought this up though, especially in the times we're currently living in.

To explain the inspiration for this thread, I have to give a little bit of background information. I have often said here on the forum that I am definitely not a cook nor a baker. It's partially because I don't find cooking particularly enjoyable, but it's even more so because I have always battled eating disorder symptoms, specifically binge eating disorder and bulimic-type issues (I share this for the sake of anyone else who might also be dealing with this.)

Sometimes it's hard to explain this to people when they don't understand why I "just don't try." If I were to learn to cook or bake well, it would pretty much be the equivalent of giving someone who has a problem with alcohol the ability to make their own choice drink at home, thus making what they struggle with not only much cheaper, but readily available.

I try very hard to not buy things like cookies, cakes, ice cream, etc., because sugar is my biggest issue and those things will be devoured within a couple of days if I buy them.

However, I HAVE found a way to deal with my chocolate chip cookie vice -- I buy the slice-and-bake cookies from the refrigerated section, then only bake a few cookies at a time. Sometimes I still go overboard but one package of slice-and-bakes is still less than say, a package of Oreos, so... You've got to take your wins where you can, huh? :)

I've finally learned to resist the urge to bake (and eat) them all, and sure, I could down 8 and then bake the rest, but this also kicks in my backup safety mechanism -- it kicks in my inevitable lazy/cheap button, and I tell myself I don't want to waste the extra electricity by heating up the oven a second time!

Now if it's a plate of cookies I know I can trust, I am most definitely the person who will take 4 cookies and claim I have "friends" to share them with.

The only reason I don't try to take the whole plate is because then my guilt issues will also kick in, nagging at me that the polite thing to do is to leave some cookies for other people to enjoy.

However, the strength of that button may or may not depend on what I think I may or may not be able to get away with at that moment -- and how big of a bag I'm carrying at the time to stash them in.

It's great to see people having fun with this and I hope you will keep carrying on (cookie in hand, or not!)

I count my calories and, depending on its size, a chocolate chip cookie could have anywhere from 60 to 300 calories. That may be too much for me to stay within my 2500-cal / day limit. So, unless I can calorically "afford" it, I'll refrain.

I’m sure I would take one or 2 cookies. Or maybe more. People can’t say I can’t! Lol
