Witness -- A shot of nitro
Genesis 21:30 And he said, For these seven ewe lambs shalt thou take of my hand, that they may be a witness unto me, that I have digged this well.
Are you a witness for the Lord? Are you one of these seven ewe lambs that witnessed to this person? The Lord is a righteous judge, you have to have the evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. One witness is wrong more than 50% of the time. If you have two witnesses the odds of being right jumps to about 2 out of 3. If you have 7 witnesses confirming something they will be right about 99.9% of the time. This is one of the reasons we are called to be a witness, to confirm what the Lord has done so they have no excuse when they appear before the throne. God is love, He desires that all would be saved, God is also righteous, if you reject Jesus you will be convicted with evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.
Leviticus 5:1 And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity.
Paul said that he was required to speak and woe to him if he didn't speak. This is the law. If you know the way of salvation and keep quiet and as a result someone perishes, you will be held accountable. Lord please wash us with your blood so that all of these sins of omission and silence are washed away by your blood.
Numbers 17:7 And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness. 8 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
Did you know the tabernacle is a "tabernacle of witness"? The tabernacle is a type and shadow of the Lord Jesus who tabernacled among us. He is a witness. He will say "well done good and faithful servant" or He will say "depart from Me, I never knew you".
Deuteronomy 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.
Isn't this wonderful! If you speak with just one person and they can come forward and say this person's testimony helped save me, then you will not be put to death!
Deuteronomy 17:7 The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you.
This is just like they do in the movies. People in hell may come forward and witness against you. I knew this person and never once did they speak to me about the gospel or salvation. Instead they talked to me about sports teams, rap music, and other filth. If they had spoken to me I could have been saved but now I am in hell for eternity. Then they are the ones that get to drag you to hell to join them.
Deuteronomy 31:19 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.
Yes, you can witness to someone on the subway, or in the food court, but if you write a song that also can be a witness for you. Many people say that a song "saved them". Imagine that you wrote that song or you sang that song.
Deuteronomy 31:26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
The book of the law is the Torah which Moses wrote. You can write a book and it can be a witness. This is why I post every day. These witnesses can show up at my trial when I stand before the Lord. When I was in college we posted an article in the school paper each month. We paid $50 for a column a certain size. Someone from the church gave us the money for this, we used another brothers published ministry to come up with these articles and I would edit it to get it to the right size. 2,000 people at that campus read that paper cover to cover every month. It was very obvious to me that this article had a big impact because on April fool's they wouldn't let us pay for an article and instead the entire paper was focused on attacking us. The biggest issue of the year was completely focused on four or five brothers preaching the gospel on the campus! Just from those articles I will have thousands of witnesses at my trial!
Proverbs 14:25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
This is our mission, to deliver souls.
Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
When you witness for the Lord you are testifying that you are the Lord's servant who He has chosen.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
This matter of being a witness of the gospel is critical to the end of the age and the rapture. The rapture before the tribulation is not the end. During the tribulation you will have a great revival and the gospel will go forth as never before. It is like a race car getting a shot of nitro.
